Introduction
The Clipcomm Bluetooth headset HCM-100 is a light weight wireless headset utilizing Bluetooth
technology.
This product can be used as an audio accessory for devices supporting either the Bluetooth
Headset or Handsfree Profiles.

Using the headset
[Wearing a headset]
You can wear the headset with the adjustable ear loop that can be worn on the left or right ear as
below.

[Charging]
- Remove the cover on the charging port as below and connect the charger.
When the charger is connected properly, the LED indicator will show a solid red light. (With
power on, the headset will turn off while connected to the charger.)
z The button stops working while the device is charging.
z 2 hours of charging time is estimated to charge the headset fully.
z When charging is completed, the LED indicator will turn off.
!note: Do not use other chargers except the approved charger. Using other brand charger will cause
a malfunction or damage of the device.
[Low battery]
If the headset’s rechargeable battery is less than 5% out of full charging, the red light on The LED
indicator will flash and a short tone will sound.
z Battery charging is needed in above case.
z When the battery is not charged, the LED indicator will flash red and then turn off.
[Turning on]
z To turn the headset on, press and hold the multifunction button for 2 seconds.
z Short and high-pitched tones will sound, and then the blue light on LED will flash fast 5 times.
[Turning off]
z To turn the headset off, press and hold the multifunction button for 5 seconds.
z Short and low-pitched tone will sound, and then the blue light will flash 5 times. When it stops
flashing, the headset turns off.
Paring
Paring is the process of associating Bluetooth devices with each other. When two devices are
paired, they establish a permanent, secure link with each other, enabling quick access to services
provided without having to enter passwords every time either device is activated.
Paired devices remain paired even when one of the devices is not powered up, the service
connection is stopped or interrupted, or one or both of the devices are rebooted.
[Initial Paring]
When you connect the HCM-100 with Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone, you need to go through the
paring process. Follow the below instruction for paring.
z With the HCM-100 off, press and hold the multifunction button for 5 seconds.
z Two short and high-pitched tones will sound with the LED indicator flickering in red and blue
alternately when the device enters into the pairing mode.
z Find the Bluetooth Menu from the Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone and "search for" or "add” a
new device.
z Select the ”Clipcomm HCM-100” from the list of devices.
z Enter “0000” (4 zeros, the default PIN of the headset) on the mobile phone when it requests a
password.
z
When paring is successful, short and high-pitched tone will sound and the blue light on LED will
flash 5 times.
To connect the headset to another type of device (a PDA, for example), the device must
support Headset or Handsfree Profiles. Refer to the user manual of the other device to set up
the headset and follow above instruction again.
If the HCM-100 is in "Pairing Mode" over 3 minutes without being paired to any device, the
headset will turn off automatically.
[Auto connection]
z Power off in connection with a mobile phone
When the HCM-100 is turned off when it is already connected to a mobile phone, the
headset and mobile phone will be disconnected. The Headset and mobile phone will be
automatically reconnected when the HCM-100 is back to power on without pairing process.
(The mobile phone connected to the headset recently should be in range of 10m)
Out of cover range from a headset
When the HCM-100 and your mobile phone are placed with distance of over 10m, the
headset and mobile phone will be disconnected. They will be automatically reconnected
when both devices are brought back in a required range (10m) within 3minutes after
disconnection. If time has been passed over 3 minutes after disconnection, maximum 10
minutes will be required for auto-reconnection. If you want to connect it manually, briefly
press the multifunction button once.
[Volume control]
Briefly press the VOLUME UP [▲] or VOLUME DOWN button [▼] to adjust the speaker volume.
Eight levels of volume control is available.
Handling Calls
[Answering calls]
The Headset and mobile phone will ring when there is an incoming call. You can answer a call by
pressing the multifunction button briefly. (Receiving a call through a mobile phone is also available)
[Making calls]
A call from the mobile phone will be transferred to the headset automatically subject to the function
set up of the mobile phone. If it is not automatically transferred, you can transfer it manually by brief
pressing the multifunction button on the HCM-100 (headset and mobile phone must
be paired prior to this process).
[Voice dialing*]
-If your mobile phone supports the voice dialing function, the headset will activate this function by
brief pressing the multifunction button once. A short tone will sound when you briefly press the
multifunction button and say the registered name on the voice dialing list.
* Note: If the mobile phone does not support the voice dialing function, it will try the last number you
dialed. Due to the design of some mobile phones, the Headset may auto-disconnect even if it is
powered on, and will not beep when receiving an incoming call.
[Last number redial*]
Press and hold the multifunction button for 1 second to hear the “beep” and "Last Number Redial"
function will be activated to call the last number dialed.
[Ending calls]
Briefly press the multifunction button.
Additional function during a call
[Transferring calls*]
Briefly press the multifunction button to transfer a call from a mobile phone to a headset while
talking over the phone, (The headset and mobile phone must be paired prior to this process).
To transfer a call from a headset to a mobile phone, press and hold VOLUME UP button [▲] for 5
seconds.
[Call waiting*]
Answer the second call without hanging up the first call by pressing the multifunction button for 1
second. Press the multifunction button for 1 second again to return to the original call.
[Call rejecting*]
Activate the call reject function by pressing the multifunction button for 1 second to reject an
incoming call.
[Call mute]
Activate the call mute function by pressing volume down button [▼] for 5 seconds and you will hear
a beep will sound and it will cut off the transmission ring from the headset to the receiver. When the
call mute function is activated, the headset user will hear a signal sound periodically. The headset
user can cancel the call mute function by pressing the volume down button [▼] for 5 seconds again.
Note: The functions with *(star) mark are available when the compatible mobile phone
supports these functions only. For additional information upon those functions, refer the
user manual of the compatible mobile phone.

Caution
Changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for
compliance could void the user's authority to operate the equipment.
There is a risk of explosion if the battery is replaced with incorrect type.
The ear loop is made of a durable plastic that does not break but bend. However,
repetition of bending is not recommended.
Additional Information
z The cover range of wireless communication is within maximum 10m and the conditions
vary according to obstacles.
z HCM-100 can be connected to the mobile phone which supports the Headset or Handsfree
Profiles only. This product is not compatible with the general wireless phones used at
home.
z The user should keep a safe distance from the devices which use the same frequency with
HCM-100. HCM-100 uses ISM (2.402 ~ 2.480Ghz) frequency and it can be affected by the
devices which use the same frequency such as wireless LAN, Microwave, Medical
appliances.
z Turn off your headset in an area with potentially explosive atmosphere. It is rare, but your
headset could generate sparks. Spark in such areas could cause an explosion or fire
resulting in bodily injury. Therefore, follow the warning notice in areas with a potentially
explosive atmosphere.
z A Rechargeable battery has a longer service life if treated properly. A new battery or one
that has not been used for a long period of time could have reduced capacity the first few
times it is used.
z Do not expose the battery in extreme temperatures, never above +60(+140 f) or under -20
(-4 f ) . If the battery is used in extreme temperature, the battery capacity will be reduced.
Charge the battery in temperature between 10 and 45C only.

Subject to the conditions of this Limited Warranty, Clipcomm warrants this product to be
free from defects in design, material and workmanship at the time of its original purchase
by a consumer, and for a subsequent period of one (1) year.
z Should your product need warranty service, please return it to the dealer from whom it was
purchased.

z The warranty is valid only if the original receipt issued to the original purchaser by the
dealer, specifying the date of purchase and serial number, is presented with the product to
be repaired or replaced.

z Clipcomm Inc. reserves the right to refuse warranty service if this information has been

product, the repaired or replaced product shall be warranted for the remaining time of the

z Repair or replacement may involve the use of functionally equivalent reconditioned units.
Replaced parts or components will become the property of Clipcomm Inc.
z This warranty does not cover any failure of the product due to normal wear and tear, or
due to misuse, including but not limited to use in other than the normal and customary
manner, in accordance with instructions for use and maintenance of the product.
z Nor does this warranty cover any failure of the product due to accident, modification or
adjustment, acts of God or damage resulting from liquid.
z This warranty does not cover product failures due to improper repair installations,
modifications or service performed by a non- Clipcomm Inc. authorized person.
z Some countries/states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or
consequential damages, or limitation of the duration of implied warranties, so the
preceding limitations or exclusions may not apply to you. The warranty provided does not
affect the consumer's statutory rights under applicable national legislation in force, nor the
consumer's rights against the dealer arising from their sales/purchase contract.
