Never install telephone jacks during a lightning storm 2. Never install telephone lacks in wet locations unless the lack is specifically deSigned tor wet locations 3. Never touch uninsulated telephone wires or terminals unless the telephone line has been disconnected at the network intertace. 4. Use caution when installing or modifying telephone lines Modular Outlet The FF915 cordless telephone operates trom a standard 110/120 volt outlet. The handset is powered by a rechargeable battery pack. Batteries are charged automatically when the handset is placed in the cradle of the base unit. 10 INS TION Desk or Table Installation 1. To connect Desk/Wall mount bracket in the desk/table position. simply align the bracket With th ebracket slots on the Base until it is securely in place. 2 Plug the AC adaptor cord into the SV DC input jack on the Base unit. NOTE Place the AC adaptor cord inside the molded strainrreliel 3. Plug one end oi the telephone cord into the TEL LlNE jack on the Base Unit a. Raise the antenna on the Base unit. 5. Plug the other end oi the telephone cord into the telephone wall jack. 6. Plug the AC adaptor into a standard 120V AC wall outlet. NOTE Use onlt with the AC adaptor supplied with FF915. To AC curler tAc 120 v sonl not create a trip hazard, or where they could become z Place the telephone and power cords where they will chafed and create a fire or other electrical hazards, 11 IN A LATION (CONT) Wall Mounting The FF915 may be mounted on a wall phone plate or onto two screws (not included) that you laslen to the wall. For either type oi installation, complete the loliowing steps first. 1. in case oi usrng the standard wall plate, this step is not necessary. Place the Desk/Wall bracket on the wall and mark the location at the screws. Install the screws leaving 3/16" ectendlng out from the wall. Use anchors to secure screws. 2. To connect the Desk/Wall bracket in the wall mount position, simply align the bracket with the slots on the base until it is securely in place 3. Insert the AC adaptor into the back oi the unit, 4. Plug one end at the telephone line cord into the TEL LINE lack on the Base unit 5. Thread the adaptor cord and telephone line cord through the grooves in the back oi the unit. The cord Will exit lrom the bottom. DO NOT CONNECT THE AC ADAPTOR TO THE WALL POWER OUTLET VET. 6. Plug the other end 0! the line cord into the wall jack 7. Mount the phone on the wallplate studs and press until the unit locks in place. 8. Plug the AC adaptor into the power outlet. INS LLATION (CONT) Handset Batten! Charging: The battery pack in the handset must be lully charged for about 10-14 hours before using the telephone. Alter connecting to AC power, leave the handset unused in the cradle tor ten to lourteen hours, Later, it will take less time lor the battery to recharge. The CHARGE LED on the base will be lit when the handset is in the cradle. NOTE: 3. When the battery gets low. the TALK LED will flash. and the unit will beep lor 30 seconds. b lt the battery becomes low while you are on a call, you will be disconnected after about 3 minutes. Terminate the call quickly, and put the handset in the base to recharge the battery c, The battery erI hold its charge for several days out oi the cradle, depending on use. NOTE: The handset will not ring when the ringer is in the “OFF" position If the handset is out ol the cradle, the TALK LED will llash during an incoming call. To Replace Batteries: ®; 1. Flemove battery cover, l . 2. Remove old battery. 3. Plug the cord of the battery pack into the handset and place the battery in the case. 4. Slide battery cover until it clicks in place Charge 10-14 \ hours belore lirst use. To maximize your battery‘s lite, we recommend that you periodically lully discharge the battery, and then recharge it, To do this, unplug your phone line cord from the wall phone lack Press the TALK button, and allow the handset to remain on for 10 to 12 hours. Reconnect the phone cord to the wall phone lack. Return the handset to the base and allow it to lully charge lor 12 hours. ll this process is completed monthly, it Will reduce the memory buildup that occurs from frequent partial charging. 13 CALLER ID SETUP To Set Language 1. After the Handset battery is fully charged, the LCD display will show “SET LANGUAGE". SET LHNGUHGE 2. Press the REVlEW "A" or “V" button to select ENGLlSH. FRENCH or SPANISH. Ct. Press the DEL key to confirm the displayed language. The unit Will beep once and Will begin to set area code ENGLISH To Set Area Code 1. Press “A" or "V" button to select the correct tirst digit oi your local area code. Press the DEL key to move to the next digit it there is no input within 20 seconds. the programme will go back to the “SET LANGUAGE“ step. 2. Repeat step i for the programming oi the second and the third digit ol your local area code. "El 3. NOTE: 1. The Caller lD setup procedure Will not begin until the handset is lully charged 2. To set up your FF915 again. press the Caller lD “CALLS" button tor 2 seconds in Date/Time screen. 3. Your FF915 will always stay in setup mode, until you complete the setup steps. However. it will still record the Caller lD lnlormations. 4. To adlust the LCD display contrast while in the standby or reView mode. press and hold the "A" and “V“ buttons at the same time tor 2 seconds. 14 TELEPHONE OPERATION Tone / Pulse Operation The FF915 will operate on tone or rotary (pulse) systems. 1. it your house is wired tor rotary service, move the Tone/Pulse much to the Pulse position, 2. It your house is wired tor Tone Service. move the Tone/Pulse switch to the Tone position, 3. Il you are unsure oi the type ol dialing service you have. set the swttch to Tone. On the handset. press the TALK button and dial any digit on the keypad. lithe dial tone persists. switch to Pulse. To disconnect. press the TALK button again, or set the handset in the cradle, ' _'_ © 1 TONE/PULSE Digital Security System Vour FF915 Cordless Telephone is equipped with a digital security coding system to protect your base unit from being accessed by other cordless telephones. The code allows your base and handset to recognize each other so that other cordless phones will not make calls on your line. It the AC adaptor is disconnected or a loss of power occurs while the handset is away irom the base unit, the security code will be lost and the phone will be inoperable. It this occurs, reconnect the AC adaptor and return the handset to the base unit so that the security code is IESEI When the handset is not in the base. only a handset having the identical security code and operating on the same channel can access the base and use your phone line. When the handset is in the base. no other handset, even those having the identical security code and operating on the same channel can access the base and use your phone line. Digital security coding will also eliminate the “false" ringing associated with cordless telephones not equipped with this teature, 15 TELEPHONE OPERATION (CONT) 40 Channel AutoScan Operation Your cordless telephone has 40 operating channels. The phone will automatically search and select the clearest channel when you press the TALK button if you hear noise or other interference during your conversation. you can manually select a cIearer channel by pressing and reieasmg the CHANNEL button on the handset to switch to another spare channel.
