INSTALLA ON
INSTALLING YOUR FF915
Selecting the Installation Location
Select a location tor the FF915 that avoids excessive heat or humidity
(as in a kitchen or bathroom) The Base Unit 0! your FF915 can be placed
on a desk or tabletop near a standard 120 V AC outlet and telephone line
jack. mounted on a standard ATE-T or GTE wall plate, or mounted directly
on the wall. Keep the Base Unit and Handsel away lrorn sources ot
electrical noise (motors, lluorescent lighting, etc).
Connecting the Telephone Line
There are three types ol phone outlets:
' Modular
- 4»prong jack
~ Hard-Wired
Modular Jack
lug the telephone line card lrom the Base Unit into a standard modular
elephone lack. Il you do not have a modular jack. contact your local
telephone company tor information on the installation at these jacks.
4-Prong Jack
An adapter (not included) is required. The adapter plugs into the 4-prong
jack and the telephone line cord plugs into the adapter.
Hard-wired Jack
A modular jack converter [not included) is required. You may need to
rewire when connecting the converter (making color-coded connections)
' Your Southwestern Bell Freedom Phone“ dealer or a telephone supply
store can advtse you on the proper adapter or converter.
CAUTION
~ Never install telephone wiring during a lightning storm.
~ Never install telephone jacks in wet locations, unless the jack is
specifically designed lor wet locations.
~ Never touch uninsulated telephone wires or terminals unless the
telephone line has been disconnected at the network interlace.
- Use caution when installing or modilying telephone lines.
Desk or Table Installation '
1 To connect Desk/Wall mount bracket In the desk/table posltlon,
simply align the bracket with the bracket slots on the base
until it Is securely In place.
2 Plug the AC adapter card into the av Dc Input jack on the Base
Unit.
Place the AC adapter cord inside the molded straimreliel.
3 Plug one end 01 the long telephone cord Into the TEL LINE lack
on the Base Unit.
4 Raise the antenna on the Base Unlt.
5 Plug the other end ol the telephone cord into the telephone
wall jack.
Plug the AC Adapter into a standard 120 V AC wall outlet.
Use only the AC Adapter supplied with the FFSls.
To AC outlet

Place the telephone and power cords where they will not
create a trip hazard, or where they could become chaled
and create a tire or other electrical hazards.

WALL MOUNTING
The FF915 may be mounted on a wall phone plate or onto two screws
(not included) that you tasten to the wall. For either type at installation,
complete the lollowing steps tirsl,
1 In case or using the standard wall plate, this step ls not
necessary.
Place the Desk/Wall bracket on the wall and mark the location
at the screws. lnstall the screws leaving 3/16" extending out
from the wall. Use anchors to secure screws.
2 To connect the Desk/Wall bracket In the wall mount position,
simply align the bracket with the slots on the base until It is
securely in place.
3 insert the AC adapter into the back at the unit.
4 Plug one end of the short telephone line cord Into the TEL LlNE
lack on the Base unit.
5 Thread the adapter cord and telephone cord Ilne through the
grooves in the back at the unit The cord will exlt trom the
bottom. l
DO NOT CONNECT THE AC ADAPTER TO THE WALL POWER
OUTLET YET. ‘
6 Plug the other end at the line cord Into the wall lack.
7 Mount the phone on the wallplete studs and gently press ml"
the unit locks In place.
8 Plug the AC adapter into the power outlet.

REPLACING THE BATTERY PACK
Always return the handset to the base when you replace the Battery
Pack. The channel and 10 codes are cleared when the battery pack is
removed making it impossible to tunher use the cordless telephone. The
two touch dial memory and Caller ID memory are stored in the Handset
EEPFlOM and are not attected.
To install or replace the rechargeable battery in your phone, lollow these steps:
1 Remove the Handset battery cover.
2 Remove the old battery.
3 Plug the battery's cable into the
Handsett
NOTE
The plastic connectors will lit together onlyv \
one way. It you have dilliculty, make sure
- the battery's connector is properly aligned.
4 Replace the battery cover.
For optimum battery performance
~ Charge the new battery overnight betore usrng your phone.
~ Do not let the battery become lully discharged.
' Be sure to return the Handset to the base at night.
Charging the Handset
Place the Handset on the base to charge. In a desktop rnstallation. the
handset can either be placed lace up or lace down, but only lace up in a
wall mount installation.
Low Battery indicator
When the Battery Pack in the Handset is low and needs to be charged.
the seIt-Iit TALK button llashes With an acoustical alarm.
it this occurs while you are on the phone. you will also hear an acoustical
alarm. Complete your call as quickly as possible. and return the Handset
to the Base Unit (orcharging.
Allow 12 to 16 hours Without any interruption lor the Handset to lully
recharge.
Cleaning the Battery Contacts
To maintain a good charge, it is important |o clean all battery contacts on
the Handset and Base Unit about once a month. Use a pencil eraser or
other contact cleaner. Do not use any liquids or solvents.

DIAL MODE SWITCH
Set the DIAL MODE switch to TONE it you subscribe to a touch tone
service. otherwise set it to PULSE. It you do not know which service you
have, check with your local telephone company.
LANGUAGE SELECTION
The unit otters a choice ol three LCD display languages: English (the
delault value), French or Spanish. Follow the instructions given below to
set your language choice.
1 Hold down the DEL button tor more
than 2 seconds or press the TALK
button twice to clear any displayed an_
number and return to stand-by modet -
2 Press the PROGRAM button. A woo
button 3 times.
5 Press the PROGRAM button again to
store the new language. The display
shown below will appear tor 3
seconds. A confirmation tone will
sound indicating that the selected
language has been stored and the
programming mode will be
terminated.

iPLACING A CALL
Manual dialing
1 Pick up the handset and press the
TALK button. The unit enters the talk
mode and the sell-II! TALK button
lights
2 Dial the number you are calling.
The call duration time display will
appear 10 seconds after dialing.
‘ 3 When you have tinished the call,
return the handset to the base unit,
or press the TALK button to hang up.
Using the REDIAL button
The unit stores the last dialed number in memory, Numbers that can be
redialed include any number up to 32 digits in lengm. This includes redialed
numbers, the last number sequence in a chain dial and numbers dialed
in temporary tone dial mode. You can automatically redial such numbers
by pertorming the lollowing steps:
1 Press the TALK button The sell-lit TALK button lights.
2 Press the REDIAL button.
NOTE
Numbers that are longer than 32 digits will clear the redial memory,

1 In the standby mode, you have the following direct dial options:
redial the last number called by pressing the REDIAL button,
retrieve trom the two-touch dial memory or retrieve from the
, caller list.

The following actions will clear the displayed’number:
(1)No operation is perlormed tor more than 30 seconds alter
entering the number,
(2) The TALK button is pressed.
(3) The DEL button is held down tor more than 2 seconds.
Settlng the receiver volume
You can set the handset receiver volume to one at three levels: Normal
(the delault setting), Mid or High. The volume control can be set only in
the TALK mode.

You can use your FF915 cordless telephone with special services such
as Catt Wailing (Special subscription lrorn your local telephone company
is required).
Simply press the FLASH button which puts the tirst caller on hold and
connects you to the incoming call. Press the FLASH button again to return
to the original call.
NOTE.
In order to take advantage ol this lealure. you must subscribe tor Caller
ID service, Call Wailing service and Caller (D with Call Wailing service
With your local telephone company. Some areas do not otter all oi these
. teatures and some areas otter number only,
Temporary Tone Feature
; It you live in a Pulse or Rotary dialing area and you use custom services.
such as banking by telephone, telephone answering machines or any
i other service that requires Touchtone dialing, your FFQtS can provide
temporary tone. Follow the instructions below.
In the pulse mode, press the TALK button lollowed by the number dialed
in the pulse setting. Then press the ' button to change to temporary tone
mode while you are dialing. When you complete your call. your FF915
will return to pulse dialing mode.

SETTING THE RINGER ON/OFF CONTROL
Ii you wish to turn ott the ringer, set the ringer switch on the side ot the
handset to "OFF".
There are three types oi rings:
- incoming call ring: Two-lone ring synchronized with an incoming
call signal.
- Priority ring (VIP): A dillerent ring sound that allows you to
distinguish the caller. To set this tunction, see the Section, "VIP
(Priority Ring)" below.
~ Paging ring: Single tone three short beeps. Press the page button
for at least three seconds to extend the paging time to 30 seconds

The auto talk mode will work even when the ringer switch is set to OFF

You can edit or erase received telephone number and name data in the
caller list using the iollowing steps
Since the 4 or> button cannot be used when editing telephone numbers,
digits can only be inserted or deleted starting irom the lirsi digit. When
editing characters, no such restrictions apply. You can both delete and
overwrite characters,
