Selecting the Installation Location
Do not place the FF920 where there is excessive heat or humidity (85 in a kitchen
or balhroom). Your FF920 can be placed on a desk or tabletop near a standard /
120V AC outlet and telephone line jack or mounted on a standard ATS-T or GTE /
wall plate. Keep the unit away tram healing appliances and devices that generate /
electrical noise (motors. fluorescent lighting. etc.).
CAUTION
- Never install a telephone during a lightning storm. '
- Neverinstall a telephone in a wet location. /
- Never touch uninsulated telephone wires or terminals,
- Use cautlon when installing a telephone line. /

fi/ Mounting on a Standard Wall Plate
The FF920 can be mounted on a standard wall plate. /
If one Is not avallable, it can also be mounted on two screws (not included).
installed 3 1/4' vertically apart in the wall. Leave 3/16" at each screw exposed for /
mounting the unit. See page 31 for template.
1 Plug the AC adapter cord Into the 9V power lack on the base /
unit.Threed the cord through the guldes.
2 Insert one and of the short telephone cord into the/
TELEPHONE LINE jack on the base unlt.
3 Plug the other end of the telephone cord Into the telephone /
wall jack
4 Position the unit on the wall phone plate.The studs of the wall
phone plate shouhfi be inserted into the slots on the base wall /
, mount holes. Pull down and lock into place.
5 Raise the antenna on the base unit to the uprlght posltlon. /
6 Plug the Ac adapter Into a standard 120V AC wall outlet. /
Use only the AC adapter supplied with the FF920. /
Route the telephone and power cords where they
will not create a trip hazard, or where they will not

The battery pack in the handset must be luIIy charged for 10 hours before first /
using the telephone. To charge the handset. leave the handset unused in the /
cradle for 10 hours.
For Optimum Battery Performance: /
0 Do not let the battery become lulty discharged. /
- Be sure to return the handset to the base at night. /
Low Battery Indicator

Once the battery charge becomes low, the TALK button will flash, and the unit
will beep hrs minutes. Even though the flashing indicator and beeping sound /
will stop alter 5 minutes, the handset cannot be Lsed until the battery is recharged.
To recharge the handset, place the handset in the base cradle. The CHARGE /
LED is lit while the handset is charging. /
Allow 10 hours without any interruption lor the handset to luliy recharge. /
Replacing the Battery Pack
To replace the rechargeable battery in your phone. lollow these steps:
1 Remove the handset battery cover. -’
2 Remove the old battery. /
3 Plug the battery's cable Into the
handset.
The plastic connectors will fit together
only one way it you have difficulty, make
sure the battery connector is properly
aligned.
Replace the battery cover. /
Charge 10 hours before the first use. /.

Cleaning the Charge Contacts
To maintain a good charge, it is imponanl (0 clean all charge contacts on lhe /
handset and base unil about once a monlh. /
Use a pencil eraser or other contact cleaner. Do not use any quulds at solvents. /

FLASH button
The FLASH button functions in the same way thatthe hook switch does '/
on a corded phone. The FLASH button is used to access special
a telephone services like call wailing. /

' You may access some features of a PBX (Large business phone
system) using the FLASH button. In this case, follow the /
procedure for hook switch operation which is required by the
PBX.

1 It you are havlng a conversation wlth someone and
another party calls, you will hear a call waiting tone.
2 Press the FLASH button on the handset. /
o The first call is put on hold and you can answer the second /
call.

- The first caller will be connected again and the second call /
is put on hold.
To MUTE
With the Mute lunction, you can temporarily turn oil the microphone ,/
This prevents the person on the other end of the line from hearing you. ./
(5 Press and hold the MUTE button to turn oil the microphone. Release ~/
the button to exit the mute function and relum to the microphone mode.

You can insert a 4-seoond PAUSE into the speed dialing oi long distance
, numbers by pressing the FtEDIAL/PAUSE button on the handset or base
I unit. It is also useiul when the phone is connected to a PBX system and

When you program a telephone number in speed dialing memory, press
the required number (usually 9) to access the outside liner Press the /
HEDIALIPAUSE button to insert a pause. and continue to enter the /
telephone numbers.

This unit has 40 operating channels. The phone will automatically search
and select the clearest channel when you pick up ma handset and press /
“5 / the TALK button It you hear noise or other interference during your
conversation, press the handset CHANNEL button to switch to a clearer
channel.
Automatic Security Coding
Every time you place the handset in the base unit, your phone randomty selects
one at 65,000 possible security codes, much like an electronic password.
With this Automatic Security Coding. your handset and base unit can recognize
each other automaticalty, mlnimizing the chance that another cordless phone
will use your telephone line.

ON. ll these switches are set to OFF. the units will not ring. The SPEAKERPHONE and -
TALK LEDs will flash to let you know there is an incoming call. /
