SLOPE OPERATION
Slopesareamajorfactorrelatedto slipandfall accidents,

at all timesuntil fuelingiscomplete.Donot usea nozzlelock-opendevice.

Tocheckthe slope, proceedas follows:
1. Removethis pageand fold alongthe dashedline.
2. Locatea vertical object on or behindthe slope(e.g. a pole, building,fence, tree, etc.)
3. Align either side of the slope gaugewith the object (SeeFigure1 and Figure2 ).
4. Adjust gaugeup or down until the left cornertouchesthe slope (SeeFigure1 and Figure2).
5. If there is a gap belowthe gauge,the slope is too steepfor safe operation(SeeFigure2 above).

Slopes are a major factor relatedto tip-over and roll-overaccidents which can result in severe injury or death. Do not operate machine on slopes
in excess of 15 degrees. All slopes require extra caution. Always mow across the face of slopes, nevermow up and down slopes.

Rapidretraction of starter cord(kickback)will pull handand arm toward

Usingas Mulcher

Release
bladecontrolto stopthe engineandblade.

Formulchinggrass,removethe sidedischargechutefrom the mower.Foreffective
mulching,do not cutwetgrass.If thegrasshasbeenallowedto growin excessof
four inches,mulchingisnot recommended.
Usethe grasscatcherto bagclippings
instead.

Wait for the blade to stop completelybefore performinganyworkon the
mower or to removethe grasscatcher.

UsingYourLawnMower

If you strike a foreign object,stop the engine. Disconnect
the sparkplug
wire,thoroughly inspectmower for any damage,andrepair damage
before restarting andoperating. Extensivevibration ofmower during
operationisan indicationof damage.Theunit should be promptly
inspectedandrepaired.

Besurelawnisclearof stones,sticks,wire, or otherobjectswhichcoulddamage
lawnmoweror engine.Suchobjectscouldbeaccidentlythrownbythe mowerin
anydirectionandcauseseriouspersonalinjurytothe operatorandothers.

Theoperationof any lawn mowercan result inforeign objectsbeing
thrown intothe eyes,whichcandamageyour eyesseverely.Always
