The screwdriver has been designed so that it can be operated as a stick screwdriver or a pistol screwdriver. The safe use of this product requires an understanding of the information on the product and in this operator's manual as well as a knowledge of the project you are attempting. Before use of this product, familiarize yourself with all operating features and safety rules. TORQUE LED WORKLIGHT The LED worklight, located on the front of the tool, illuminates when the switch trigger is depressed. This provides extra light for increased visibility. The torque adjustment ring can be turned to select the right amount of torque for the application. GEAR TRAIN The two-speed gear train is designed for drilling or driving at LO or HI speeds. A slide switch is located on top of your screwdriver for selecting either LO or Hi speed. UNPACKING This product has been shipped completely assembled. Carefully remove the product and any accessories from the box. Make sure that all items listed in the packing list are included. SCREWDRIVER SWITCH The screwdriver is equipped with a rocker type switch which turns the screwdriver ON and OFF. This switch also controls the forward and reverse feature. BIT STORAGE Bits provided with the screwdriver can be placed in the storage area, located on the base of the screwdriver. • COMBINATION WARNING: If any parts are damaged or missing do not operate this product until the parts are replaced. The screwdriver has been designed so that it can be used as a stick screwdriver or a pistol screwdriver. A rotation button is located on the side of the screwdriver. To place the screwdriver in pistol position, hold it in normal operating position, depress rotation button and push down on handle. To place the screwdriver in stick position, hold it in normal operating position, depress rotation button and pull up on handle. WARNING: Do not use any attachments or accessories not recommended by the manufacturer of this product. The use of attachments or accessories not recommended can result in serious personal injury. ROTATION BUTTON APPLICATIONS You may use this product for the purposes listed below: [] Driving screws with screwdriver bits [] Light-duty drilling CHARGING THE SCREWDRIVER See Figure 2. This tool has been shipped in a low charge condition to prevent possible problems. Therefore, you should charge it overnight prior to use. NOTE: Batteries will not reach full charge the first time they are charged. Allow several cycles (driving screws followed by recharging) for them to become fully charged. If the charger does not charge the screwdriver under normal circumstances, return both the screwdriver and charger to the nearest Sears Service Center for electrical check. LED LIGHT Fig. 3 COLLET See Figure 4. The collet on the screwdriver accept 1/4 in. hex bits. To charge: TO INSERT/REMOVE [] Insert charger plug into input jack making sure they are properly connected. has been designed to BITS See Figure 4. Insert bit into collet as far as possible. To remove a bit, pull the bit straight out of the collet. [] Charger can be used with normal household voltage of 120 volts, 60 Hz, AC only. NOTE: When using 1/4 in. bits, use an extension. LIGHTEDLED INDICATESCHARGING COLLET INPUT JACK CHARGER CHARGER PLUG ___ ADJUSTABLE Fig. 4 TORQUE CLUTCH This product is equipped with an adjustable torque clutch for driving different types of screws into different materials. The proper setting depends on the type of material and the size of screw you are using. Fig. 2 10 ADJUSTINGTORQUE BIT STORAGE See Figure 5. There are twenty-four torque indicator settings located on the front of the screwdriver. See Figure 7. When not in use, bits provided with the screwdriver can be placed in the storage area located on the front of the screwdriver. LED LIGHT TO DECREASE TORQUE The screwdriver has a two-speed gear train designed for LO or HI speeds. A slide switch is located on top of the screwdriver to select either LO or HI speed. When using screwdriver in the LO speed range, speed will decrease and unit will have more power and torque. When using screwdriver in the HI speed range, speed will increase and unit will have less power and torque. When drilling use 1/4 in. hex shank drill bits only. Maximum drill size is 1/4 in. Use the HI speed setting to drill holes, and use the LO speed setting for driving screws. Fig. 5 LED WORKMGHT See Figure 5. The LED worklight on the front of the screwdriver will come on when the switch trigger is depressed. This provides additional lighting on the surface of the workpiece for operation in lower-light areas. DRIVING/REMOVING GEAR TRAIN SCREWS TWO-SPEED GEARTRAIN(HI-LO) See Figure 6. For driving screws, depress top of switch, for removing screws, depress bottom of switch. Avoid using solvents when cleaning plastic parts. Most plastics are susceptible to damage from various types of commercial solvents and may be damaged by their use. Use clean cloths to remove dirt, dust, oil, grease, etc. WARNING: Always wear safety goggles or safety glasses with side shields when using compressed air to clean products. If the operation is dusty, also wear a dust mask. ,,_IL WARNING: Only the parts shown on the parts list are intended to be repaired or replaced by the customer. All other parts should be replaced at a Sears Service Center. A AND PREPARATION TO REMOVE: • • Insert a flat blade screwdriver between the edge of the rotation button and the screwdriver body. Remove rotation button. • Remove the five screws securing motor housing cover then remove cover. • Lift batteries from motor housing enough to expose leads and battery terminals. Disconnect leads from battery terminals. NOTE: Be careful not to break battery leads when disconnecting them. Do not at any time let brake fluids, gasoline, petroleum-based products, penetrating oils, etc. come in contact with plastic parts. Chemicals can damage, weaken or destroy plastic which may result in serious personal injury. WARNING: To avoid serious personal injury, always remove the battery pack from the product when cleaning or performing any maintenance. BATTERY PACK REMOVAL FOR RECYCLING See Figures 9 - 10. MAINTENANCE WARNING: Upon removal, cover the battery pack's terminals with heavy-duty adhesive tape. Do not attempt to destroy or disassemble battery pack or remove any of its components. Nickel-cadmium batteries must be recycled or disposed of properly. Also, never touch both terminals with metal objects and/or body parts as short circuit may result. Keep away from children. Failure to comply with these warnings could result in fire and/or serious injury. BATTERIES The screwdriver is equipped with nickel-cadmium rechargeable batteries. Length of service from each charging will depend on the type of work you are doing. The batteries in this tool have been designed to provide maximum trouble free life.
