Press the shoe's release button and slide shoe out to desired position. The shoe can be locked in any of 4 positions. 3. Fig. 11 Release the shoes release button to lock the shoe in desired position. To Pivot Shoe (Fig. 11) The shoe pivots to provide maximum control against the surface being cut. 1. Remove the battery pack. 2. Hold the saw securely, and then pivot the shoe to the desired position. 26314 ManuaLRevlsed_07-0322 Page 20 ORBITAL ADJUSTMENT KNOB This saw has an orbital control with three positions that allows you to choose the best cutting action for your material, • Position 2 is for maximum orbital action (most aggressive). position should be used when cutting soft materials. In general, the "2" Position I is for less orbital action. In general, the "1" position should be used when cutting hard materials. Position 0 is for normal up and down action (no orbital actions), "0" position should be used when cutting metals. o To increase the orbital action, turn the knob to a higher setting. 2. To decrease the orbital action, turn the knob to a lower setting. In general, the GENERAL CUTTING 1. Firmly hold the saw in front of you and away from you. 2. Make sure that the saw blade is clear of any foreign material 3. Make sure that the material to be cut is securely supported. Small work pieces must be securely clamped in a vise or with clamps to a workbench or table. 4. Clearly mark the line of cut. 5o Push the lock-off button to left side, then depress trigger switch to start the cutting action. 6. Place the base assembly (shoe) against the work, then move the blade into the work. 7. Do not force. Use only enough pressure to keep the saw cutting. Let the blade and saw do the work. Use of excessive pressure that causes bending or twisting of the blade may result in broken blades. PLUNGE CUTTING 1. Clearly mark the line of cut. 2. Choose a convenient starting point inside the area to be cut out, and place the tip of the blade above that point° 3. Rest the front edge of base assembly firmly in position_ 4. Push the lock-off button to the left side, then depress the trigger switch to start the cutting action. 5. With the saw blade at full cutting speed, slowly tilt saw downward blade starts cutting the work piece. 6, After the blade penetrates the work piece, tilt the saw until the blade is perpendicular to the work piece, 26314 ManuaLRevtsed_07-0322 (shoe) on the work piece and hold it until tip of Page21 METAL CUTTING Metals such as sheet steel, pipe, steel rods, aluminum, brass, and copper may be cut with the saw. Be careful not to twist or bend the saw blade. Do not force. The use of cutting oil is recommended when cutting soft metals and steel. Cutting oil will keep the blade cool, increase cutting action, and prolong blade life. Never use gasoline; normal sparking could ignite fumes. Securely clamp the work piece, and make the cut close to the clamping point to minimize vibration of the work being cut. When cutting conduit pipe or angle iron, clamp the work in a vise, if possible, and cut close to the vise. To cut thin sheet material, "sandwich" the material between hardboard or plywood and clamp the layers to eliminate vibration and material tearing. GENERAL MAINTENANCE Avoid using solvents when cteaning plastic parts. Most plastics are susceptible to damage from commercial solvents and may be damaged by their use.
