CHARGED BEFORE USE. FAILURE TO CHARGE
BATTERY CAN RESULT iN A SHORTENED BATTERY
LIFE.
Charge battery at a rate of 6 amperes for I hour. Use
a 12 volt battery charger. Observe all safety precaut{ons required for battery charging.
Checkthe acid level after the battery is charged. If the
acid has fallen below the correct level, add distilled or
iron free water.

o

•

H

Install the vent caps to cover the vent wells. Wash the
top of the battery with water to remove any acid, then
:wipe dry.
Check battery case for leakage to make sure that no
damage has occurred in handling.
Dispose of excess battery acid. Neutralize acid for
disposal by adding it to two gallons of water in a five
gallon plastic container. Stir with a wooden or plastic
paddle while adding baking soda until the addition of
more soda causes no more foaming,

Always operate engine at full throttle,
•
Operating engine at tess than full throttle reduces the
battery charging rate.
•
Full thrott{e offers the best bagging and mower performance.

*POSITION

PARKING BRAKE

,:

.......,I

Turn ignition key to "OFF" position and remove key.
Always remove key when leaving tractor to prevent
unauthorized use.
•
Never use choke to stop engine,
NOTE: Under certain conditions when unit is standing idle
with the engine running, hot engine exhaust gases may
cause "browning" of grass. To eliminate this possibility,
always stop engine when stopping tractor on grass areas,

TO SET PARKING
BRAKE (See Fig. 9)
Your tractor is equipped with an operator presence sensing
switch. When engine is running, any attempt by the
operator to leave the seat without first setting the parking
brake will shut off the engine.
•
Depress clutch/brake pedal intofuil "BRAKE" position

ENGINE •
Move throttle control to slow (,_=t) position.
NOTE: Failure to move throttle control to slow (,at)

height,

(1_-'_)to lower cutting

The cutting height range is approximately 1-I/2" to 4", The
heights are measured from the ground to the blade tip with
the engine not running. These heights are approximate
and may vary depending upon soil conditions, height of
grass and types of grass being mowed.

12

•

The average lawn should be cut to approximately2-1/2
inches during the cool season and to over 3 inches
during hot months, For healthier and better looking
lawns, mow often and after moderate growth,

•

For best cutting performance, grass over 6 inches in
height should be mowed twice. Make the first cut
relatively high; the second to desired height,
