FOR TWO YEARS from the date of purchase, all non-expendable parts of this riding equipment are

warranted against any defects in material or workmanship. A defective non-expendable part will

receive free in-home repair or replacement if repair is impossible.

FOR FIVE YEARS from the date of purchase, the frame and front axle of this riding equipment are

warranted against any defects in material or workmanship. A defective frame or front axle will receive

free in-home repair or replacement if repair is impossible.

All of the above warranty coverage applies for only one year from the date of purchase if this riding

equipment is ever used while providing commercial services or if rented to another person.

FOR 90 DAYS from the date of purchase, the battery (an expendable part) of this riding equipment

is warranted against any defects in material or workmanship (our testing proves that it will not hold

a charge). A defective battery will receive free in-home replacement.

ADDiTiONAL LiFETiME LiMiTED WARRANTY on CAST iRON FRONT AXLE (if equipped)

FOR AS LONG AS IT IS USED by the original owner after the fifth year from the date of purchase, the

cast iron front axle (if equipped) of this riding equipment is warranted against any defects in material or

workmanship. With proof of purchase, a defective cast front axle will receive free in-home replacement.

In all cases above, if part repair or replacement

is impossible, the riding equipment will be

replaced free of charge with the same or an

equivalent model.

This warranty covers ONLY defects in material

and workmanship. Warranty coverage does

NOT include:

• Expendable parts (except for battery) that can

wear out from normal use within the warranty

period, including but not limited to blades,

spark plugs, air cleaners, belts, and oil filters.

• Standard maintenance servicing, oil changes,

or tune-ups.

• Tire replacement or repair caused by

punctures from outside objects, such as

nails, thorns, stumps, or glass.

• Tire or wheel replacement or repair resulting

from normal wear, accident, or improper

operation or maintenance.

• Repairs necessary because of operator

abuse, including but not limited to damage

caused by towing objects beyond the

capability of the riding equipment, impacting

objects that bend the frame, axle assembly or

crankshaft, or over-speeding the engine.

= Repairs necessary because of operator

negligence, including but not limited to,

electrical and mechanical damage caused

by improper storage, failure to use the proper

grade and amount of engine oil, failure to

keep the deck clear of flammable debris,

or failure to maintain the riding equipment

according to the instructions contained in the

operator's manual.

= Engine (fuel system) cleaning or repairs

caused by fuel determined to be contaminated

or oxidized (stale). In general, fuel should be

used within 30 days of its purchase date.

= Normal deterioration and wear of the exterior

finishes, or product label replacement.

This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and

you may also have other rights which vary from

state to state.

IMPORTANT: This cutting machine is capable of amputating hands and feet and throw-

ing objects. Failure to observe the following safety instructions could result in serious

injury or death.

TRAINING

Read the Owner's Manual carefully. Be

thoroughly familiar with the controls and

the proper use of the equipment. Know 2

how to stop the unit and disengage the

controls quickly.

Never allow children to operate the equip-

ment. Never allow adults to operate the

equipment without proper instruction.

•Keep the area of operation clear of all

persons, particularly small children, and

pets.

PREPARATION

•Thoroughly inspect the area where the

equipment is to be used and remove all

foreign objects.

•Disengage all clutches and shift into neu-

tral before starting the engine (motor).

•Do not operate the equipment with-

out wearing adequate outer garments.

Wear footwear that will improve footing

on slippery surfaces.

•Handle fuel with care; it is highly flam-

mable.

•Use an approved fuel container.

•Never add fuel to a running engine or

hot engine.

•Fill fue! tank outdoors with extreme

care. Never fill fuel tank indoors.

•Replace gasoline cap securely and

clean up spilled fue! before restarting.

•Use extension cords and receptacles

as specified by the manufacturer for

all units with electric drive motors or

electric starting motors.

•Never attempt to make any adjustments

while the engine (motor) is running

(except where specifically recommend-

ed by manufacturer).

OPERATION

•Do not put hands or feet near or under

rotating parts.

•Exercise extreme caution when operat-

ing on or crossing gravel drives, walks,

or roads. Stay alert for hidden hazards

or traffic. Do not carry passengers.

•After striking a foreign object, stop the

engine (motor), remove the wire from

the spark plug, thoroughly inspect the

tiller for any damage, and repair the

damage before restarting and operating

the tiller.

•Exercise caution to avoid slipping or

falling.

•If the unit should start to vibrate ab-

normally, stop the engine (motor) and

check immediately for the cause. Vibra-

tion is generally a warning of trouble.

•Stop the engine (motor) when leaving

the operating position.

•Take all possible precautions when

leaving the machine unattended. Dis-

engage the tines, shift into neutral, and

stop the engine.

•Before cleaning, repairing, or inspect-

ing, shut off the engine and make

certain all moving parts have stopped. 3

Disconnect the spark plug wire, and

keep the wire away from the plug to

prevent accidental starting. Disconnect

the cord on electric motors.

•Do not run the engine indoors; exhaust

fumes are dangerous.

•Never operate the tiller without proper

guards, plates, or other safety protec-

tive devices in place.

•Keep children and pets away.

•Do not overload the machine capacity

by attempting to till too deep at too fast

a rate.

•Never operate the machine at high

speeds on slippery surfaces. Look

behind and use care when backing.

•Never allow bystanders near the unit.

•Use only attachments and accessories

approved by the manufacturer of the

tiller.

•Never operate the tiller without good

visibility or light.

•Be careful when tilling in hard ground.

The tines may catch in the ground and

propel the tiller forward. If this occurs,

let go of the handlebars and do not

restrain the machine.

MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE

•Keep machine, attachments, and ac-

cessories in safe working condition.

•Check shear pins, engine mounting

bolts, and other bolts at frequent inter-

vals for proper tightness to be sure the

equipment is in safe working condition.

•Never store the machine with fuel in

the fuel tank inside a building where

ignition sources are present, such as

hot water and space heaters, clothes

dryers, and the like. Allow the engine to

cool before storing in any enclosure.

•Always refer to the operator's guide

instructions for important details if the

tiller is to be stored for an extended

period.

_,CAUTION: Always disconnect spark

plug wire and place wire where it cannot

contact spark plug in order to prevent

accidental starting when setting up, trans-

orting, adjusting or making repairs.

Please read and retain this manual. The

instructions will enable you to assemble

and maintain your tiller properly. Always

observe the "SAFETY RULES".

Your new tiller has been assembled at the

factory with exception of those parts left

unassembled for shipping purposes. To

ensure safe and proper operation of your

tiller all parts and hardware you assemble

must be tightened securely. Use the cor-

rect tools as necessary to insure proper

tightness.

CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITIES

•Read and observe the safety rules.

•Follow a regular schedule in maintain-

ing, caring for and using your tiller.

•Follow the instructions under the "Main-

tenance" and "Storage" sections of this

Owner's Manual.

_WARNING: This unit is equipped with

an internal combustion engine and should

not be used on or near any unimproved

forest-covered, brush-covered or grass

covered land unless the engine's exhaust

system is equipped with a spark arrester

meeting applicable local or state laws (if

any). If a spark arrester is used, it should

be maintained in effective working order

by the operator.

In the state of California the above is

required by law (Section 4442 of the

California Public Resources Code). Other

states may have similar laws. Federal

laws apply on federal lands. A spark ar-

rester for the muffler is available through

your nearest Sears service center (See

REPAIR PARTS section of this manual).

Your new tiller has been assembled at the factory with the exception of those parts left

unassembled for shipping purposes. To ensure safe and proper operation of your tiller

as necessary to insure proper tightness.

TOOLS REQUIRED FOR ASSEMBLY

A socket wrench set will make assembly

easier. Standard wrench sizes are listed.

OPERATOR'S POSITION

When right or left hand is mentioned in this

manual, it means when you are in the operat-

ing position (standing behind tiller handles).

1. Cut cable ties securing handles.

2. The handle may be assembled in high

or low position. Slowly lift handle as-

sembly up and align handle holes with

desired handle panel hole and slot.

3. Loosely assemble hardware as shown.

Be sure the shorter (1" long) hex bolt

is assembled in lower hole of handle.

Repeat for opposite side. Tighten all

hardware securely.

NOTE: Cables must not touch the muffler.

4. Cut cable ties securing tiller to skid

and remove tiller from skid.

5. Remove screws securing depth stake

to skid and discard screws.

INSTALL DEPTH STAKE ASSEMBLY

1. Loosen nut "A".

2. Insert stake support between engine

bracket halves with stake spring down.

3. Bolt stake support to engine brackets

with bolts, Iockwashers and nuts. Tighten

securely. Tighten nut "A".

4. Depth stake must move freely. If it does

not, loosen support bolt.

Our tillers conform to the safety standards of the American National Standards Institute.

CHOKE CONTROL =Used when starting

a cold engine.

DEPTH STAKE =Controls forward speed

and the depth at which tiller will dig.

The operation of any tiller can result in foreign objects thrown into the eyes,

which can result in severe eye damage. Always wear safety glasses or eye

shields before starting your tiller and while tilling. We recommend standard

safety glassesor a wide vision safety maskworn overspectacles.

HOW TO USE YOUR TILLER WHEELS

ing fuel and oil or attempting to start engine.

TINE OPERATION

•Squeeze tine control to handle.

TILLING

The speed and depth of tilling is regulated

bythe position of the depth stake and wheel

height.

The depth stake should always be belowthe

wheels for digging. It serves as a brake to

slow the tiller's forward motion to enable the

tinesto penetrate the ground. Also, the more

the depth stake is lowered into the ground

the deeper the tines will dig.

DEPTH STAKE

Adjust depth stake by removing the hairpin

clip and clevis pin. Change depth stake to

desired position. Replace the clevis pin

and hairpin clip.

•For normal tilling, set depth stake at the

second or third hole from the top. 8

TO TRANSPORT

,_CAUTION: Before lifting or transport-

ing, allow tiller engine and muffler to

cool. Disconnect spark plug wire. Drain

gasoline from fuel tank.

AROUND THE YARD

1. Tip depth stake forward until it is held by

the stake spring.

2. Push tiller handles down, raising tines

off the ground.

3. Push or pull tiller to desired location.

AROUND TOWN

1. Disconnect spark plug wire.

2. Drain fuel tank.

3. Transport in upright position to prevent

oil leakage.

BEFORE STARTING ENGINE

iMPORTANT: Be very careful not to allow

dirt to enter the engine when checking or

adding oil or fuel. Use clean oil and fuel and

store in approved, clean, covered contain-

ers. use clean fill funnels.

FILL ENGINE WITH OIL

Remove hangtag from engine.

With engine level, remove engine oil filler

plug.

Fill engine with oil to point of overflow-

ing. For approximate capacity see

"PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS" on page

4 of this manual. All oil must meet A.RI.

Service Classification SG-SL.

4. Tilt tiller back on its wheels and then

re-level.

5. With engine level, refill to point of over-

flowing if necessary. Replace oil filler

plug.

For cold weather operation you should

change oil for easier starting (See "OIL

VISCOSITYCHART"in the Maintenance

section of this manual).

ADD GASOLINE

Fill fuel tank to bottom of filler neck. Do

not overfill. Use fresh, clean, regular

unleaded gasoline with a minimum of

87 octane. (Use of leaded gasoline will

increase carbon and lead oxide deposits

and reduce valve life). Do not mix oil with

gasoline. Purchase fuel in quantities that

can be used within 30 days to assure fuel

freshness.

_ILCAUTION: Fill to within 1/2" of top of fuel

tank to prevent spills and to allow for fuel

expansion. If gasoline is accidentally spilled,

move machine awayfrom area of spill. Avoid

creating any source of ignition until gasoline

vapors have disappeared.

Wipe off any spilled oil or fuel. Do not store,

spill or use gasoline near an open flame.

IMPORTANT: When operating in tempera-

tures below32°F(0°C), use fresh, clean winter

grade gasoline to help insure good cold

weather starting.

_ILCAUTION: Alcohol blended fuels (called

gasohol or using ethanol or methanol) can

attract moisture which leads to separation

and formation of acids during storage. Acidic

gas can damage the fuel system of an engine

while in storage. To avoid engine problems,

the fuel system should be emptied before

storage of 30 days or longer. Drain the gas

tank, start the engine and let it run until the

fuel lines and carburetor are empty. Use

fresh fuel next season. See Storage Instruc-

tions for additional information. Never use

engine or carburetor cleaner products in the

fuel tank or permanent damage may occur.

TO START ENGINE

_I, CAUTION: Keep tine control in "OFF"

position when starting engine.

When starting engine for the first time or if

engine has run out of fuel, it will take extra

pulls of the recoil starter to move fuel from

the tank to the engine.

1. Make sure spark plug wire is properly

connected.

2. Place throttle control in "FAST" position.

3. Movechokecontroltofull"CHOKE"posi-

tion. Grasp recoil starter handle with one

hand and grasp tiller handle with other

hand. Pull rope out slowly until engine

reaches start of compression cycle (rope

will pull slightly harder at this point).

4. Pull recoil starter handle quickly. Do

not let starter handle snap back against

starter. Repeat if necessary.

NOTE: If engine fires but does not start,

move choke control to half choke position.

Pull recoil starter handle until engine starts.

5. When engine starts, slowly move choke

control to "RUN" position as engine

warms up.

NOTE: A warm engine requires less chok-

ing to start.

6. Move throttle control to desired running

position.

7. AIIowenginetowarm upforafewminutes

before engaging tines.

NOTE: If at a high altitude (3000 feet) or

in cold temperatures (below 32°F/0°C), the

carburetor fuel mixture may need to be

adjusted for best engine performance. See

"TO ADJUST CARBURETOR" in the Service

and Adjustments section of this manual.

NOTE: Ifengine does not start, see trouble-

shooting points.

BREAKING iN YOUR TILLER

Break-in your belt(s), pulleys and tine control

before you actually begin tilling.

•Start engine, tip tines off ground by press-

ing handles down and engage tine control

to start tine rotation. Allow tines to rotate

for five minutes.

•Check tine operation and adjust if neces-

sary. See "TINE OPERATION CHECK" in

the Service and Adjustments section of

this manual.

TILLING HINTS

,_k,CAUTION: Until you are accustomed to

handling your tiller, start actual field use with

throttle in slow position.

To help tiller move forward, lift up the

handles slightly (thus lifting depth stake out

of ground). To slow down the tiller, press

down on handles.

If you are straining or tiller is shaking, the

wheels and depth stake are not set properly

in the soil being tilled. The proper setting of

the wheels and depth stake is through trial

and error and depends upon the soil condi-

tion. (The harder or wetter the ground, the

slower the engine and tine speed needed.

Under these poor conditions, at fast speed

the tiller will run and jump over the ground).

A properly adjusted tiller will dig with little

effort from the operator.

•Tilling is digging into, turning over, and

breaking up packed soil before planting.

Loose, unpacked soil helps root growth.

Best tilling depth is 4"-6". A tiller will also

clear the soil of unwanted vegetation.

The decomposition of this vegetable

matter enriches the soil. Depending on

the climate (rainfall and wind), it may be

advisable to till the soil at the end of the

growing season to further condition the

soil.

•Soil conditions are important for proper

tilling. Tines will not readily penetrate

dry, hard soil which may contribute to

excessive bounce and difficult handling of

your tiller. Hard soil should be moistened

before tilling; however, extremely wet soil

will "ball-up" or clump during tilling. Wait

until the soil is less wet in order to achieve

the best results. When tilling in the fall,

remove vines and long grass to prevent

them from wrapping around the tine shaft

and slowing your tilling operation.

•You will find tilling much easier ifyou leave

a row untilled between passes. Then go

back between tilled rows There are two

reasons for doing this. First, wide turns

are much easier to negotiate than about-

faces. Second, the tiller won't be pulling

itself, and you, toward the row next to it.

•Set depth stake and wheel height for

shallow tilling when working extremely

hard soil or sod. Then work across the

first cuts at normal depth.

CU LTIVATI NG

Cultivating is destroying the weeds between

rows to prevent them from robbing nourish-

ment and moisture from the plants. At the

same time, breaking up the upper layer of

soil crust will help retain moisture in the soil.

Best digging depth is 1"-3".

•You will probably not need to use the

depth stake. Begin by tipping the depth

stake forward until it is held by the stake

spring.

•Cultivate up and down the rows at a speed

which will allow tines to uproot weeds

and leave the ground in rough condition,

promoting no further growth of weeds and

grass.

GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS

The warranty on this tiller does not cover

items that have been subjected to operator

abuse or negligence. To receive full value

from the warranty, the operator must main-

Some adjustments will need to be made

periodically to properly maintain your tiller.

All adjustments in the Service and Adjust-

ments section of this manual should be

checked at least once each season.

• Once a year you should replace the spark

plug, clean or replace air filter, and check

tines and belts for wear. A new spark plug

and clean air filter assure proper air-fuel

mixture and help your engine run better

and last longer.

BEFORE EACH USE

1. Check engine oil level.

2. Check tine operation.

3. Check for loose fasteners.

LUBRICATION

Keep unit well lubricated (See "LUBRICA-

TION CHART") .

tank before tipping unit for maintenance.

Clean muffler area of all grass, dirt, and

debris.

Do not touch hot muffler or cylinder fins as

contact may cause burns.

ENGINE

LUBRICATION

Use only high quality detergent oil rated with

API service classification SG-SL Select the

oil's SAE viscosity grade according to your

expected temperature.

NOTE: Although multi-viscosity oils (5W-

30, 10W-30, etc.) improve starting in cold

weather, these multi-viscosity oils will result in

increased oil consumption when used above

32°F (0°C). Checkyour engine oil level more

frequently to avoid possible engine damage

from running low on oil.

Change the oil after every 50 hours of opera-

tion or at least once a year if the tiller is not

used for 50 hours in one year.

Check the crankcase oil level before starting

the engine and after each five (5) hours of

continuous use. Add SAE 30 motor oil or

equivalent. Tighten oil filler plug securely

each time you check the oil level.

TO CHANGE ENGINE OIL

Determine temperature range expected

before oil change. All oil must meet API

service classification SG-SL

• Be sure tiller is on level surface.

• Oil will drain more freely when warm.

• Catch oil in a suitable container.

1. Remove drain plug.

2. Tip tiller forward to drain oil.

3. After oil has drained completely, replace

oil drain plug and tighten securely.

4. Remove oil filler plug. Be careful not to

allow dirt to enter the engine.

5. Refill engine with oil. See "FILL ENGINE

WITH OIL " in the Operation section of

this manual.

AIR CLEANER

Service air cleaner cartridge every 50 hours,

more often if engine is used in very dusty

conditions.

1. Loosen air cleaner screw.

2. Remove air cleaner cover.

3. Carefully remove air cleaner cartridge.

Be careful. Do not allow dirt or debris to

fall into carburetor.

4. Clean bytapping gentlyon aflatsurface.

NOTE: If very dirty or damaged, replace

cartridge.

5. Clean and replace cover. Tighten screw

securely.

&CAUTION: Petroleum solvents, such

as kerosene, are not to be used to clean

cartridge. They may cause deterioration of

the cartridge. Do not oil cartridge. Do not

use pressurized airto clean or dry cartridge.

COOLING SYSTEM

Your engine is air cooled. For proper en-

gine performance and long life keep your

engine clean.

• Clean air screen frequently using a stiff-

bristled brush.

• Remove blower housing and clean as

necessary.

• Keep cylinder fins free of dirt and chaff.

MUFFLER

Do not operate tiller without muffler. Do

not tamper with exhaust system. Dam-

aged mufflers or spark arresters could

create a fire hazard. Inspect periodically

and replace if necessary. If your engine is

equipped with a spark arrester screen as-

sembly, remove every 50 hours for clean-

ing and inspection. Replace if damaged.

SPARK PLUG

Replace spark plugs at the beginning of

each tilling season or after every 50 hours

of use, whichever comes first. Spark plug

type and gap setting are shown in "PROD-

UCT SPECIFICATIONS" on page 4 of this

manual.

TRANSMISSION

Your transmission is sealed and will not re-

quire lubrication unless serviced.

CLEANING

Do not clean your tiller when the engine and

transmission are hot. We do not recommend

using pressurized water (garden hose, etc.)

to clean your unit unless the gasket area

around thetransmission and the engine muf-

fler, air filter and carburetor are covered to

keep water out. Water in engine will shorten

the useful life of your tiller.

•Clean engine, wheels, finish, etc. of all

foreign matter.

•Keep finished surfaces and wheels free

of all gasoline, oil, etc.

•Protect painted surfaces with automotive

type wax.

TO ADJUST HANDLE HEIGHT

Factory assembly has provided lowest han-

dle height. Select handle height best suited

foryourtilling conditions. Handle heightwill

be different when tiller digs into soil.

1. If a higher handle height is desired,

loosen the four nuts securing handle

panel to engine brackets.

2. Slide handle panel to desired location.

3. Tighten the four nuts securely.

TINE OPERATION CHECK

_I:_WARNING: Disconnect spark plug wire

from spark plug to prevent starting while

checking tine operation.

For proper tine operation, tine control lever

must be against control body and all slack

removed from inner wire of control cable

when control is in the "OFF" (up) position.

If lever and cable are loose, loosen cable

clip at lower end of cable. Pull up on cable

to remove slack, without extending spring

on end of cable, and retighten cable clip.

TINE ARRANGEMENT

Your outer tines can be assembled in several

different ways to suit your tilling or cultivat-

ing needs.

_,CAUTION: Tines are sharp. Wear gloves

or other protection when handling tines.

FINAL CHECK "OFF" POSITION

1. With tine control "OFF" (up), push down

on handle to raise tines off the ground.

2. Slowly pull recoil starter handle while

observing tines. Tines should not rotate.

3. Iftines rotate, innerwire ofcontrol cable is

too tight which is extending lower spring

and engaging tines. Loosen cable clip

and push down on cable only enough

to relieve spring tension. Tighten cable

clip.

4. Recheck in "OFF" position and adjust if

necessary.

FINAL CHECK "ON" POSITION

5. With tine control "ON" (held down to

handle) push down on handle to raise

tines off the ground.

6. Slowly pull recoil starter handle while

observing tines. Tines should rotate

forward.

7. Iftines do not rotate, innerwire ofcontro!

cable is too loose. Loosen cable clip

and pull cable up to remove slack and

retighten clip.

8. Recheck in "ON" position and adjust if

necessary.

NOTE: If "ON" position check required

adjustment, recheck "OFF" position ad-

justment to insure tines do not rotate when

control is "OFF" (up).

Pull belt guard out and away from unit.

Replace belt guard by reversing above

procedure. Be sure slot in bottom of belt

guard is under head of tine shield bolt

Replace V-belt if it has stretched consider-

ably or if it has cracks or frayed edges.

ENGINE

Maintenance, repair, or replacement of the

emission control devices and systems, which

are being done at the customers expense,

may be performed by any non-road engine

repair establishment or individual. Warranty

repairs must be performed by an authorized

engine manufacturer's service outlet.

TO ADJUST CARBURETOR

The carburetor has been preset at the factory

and adjustment should not be necessary.

However, engine performance can be af-

fected by differences in fuel, temperature,

altitude or load. If the carburetor does need

adjustment, contact your nearest authorized

service center/department

IMPORTANT: Never tamper with the engine

governor, which is factory set for proper

engine speed. Overspeeding the engine

above the factory high speed setting can be

dangerous. If you thinkthe engine-governed

high speed needs adjusting, contact your

nearest sears or other qualified service

center which has the proper equipment

and experience to make any necessary

adjustments.

Immediately prepare your tiller for storage

at the end of the season or if the unit will

not be used for 30 days or more.

_,Warning: Never store the tiller with

gasoline in the tank inside a building where

fumes may reach an open flame or spark.

Allow the engine to cool before storing in

any enclosure.

TILLER

1. Clean entire tiller (See "CLEANING" in

the Maintenance section of this manual).

2. Inspect and replace belts, if necessary

(See belt replacement instructions in the

Service and Adjustments section of this

manual).

3. Lubricate as shown in the Maintenance

section of this manual.

4. Be sure that all nuts, bolts and screws

are securely fastened. Inspect moving

parts for damage, breakage and wear.

Replace if necessary.

5. Touch up a!l rusted or chipped paint

surfaces; sand lightly before painting.

•Use fresh fuel next season.

NOTE: Fuel stabilizer is an acceptable

alternative in minimizing the formation of

fue! gum deposits during storage. Add

stabilizer to gasoline in fuel tank or storage

container. Always follow the mix ratio found

on stabilizer container. Run engine at least

10 minutes after adding stabilizer to allow

the stabilizer to reach the carburetor. Do

not empty the gas tank and carburetor if

using fuel stabilizer.

ENGINE OIL

Drain oil (with enginewarm) and replace with

clean oil. (See "ENGINE" inthe Maintenance

section of this manual).

CYLINDER

1. Remove spark plug.

2. Pour 1 ounce (29ml) ofoilthroughspark

plug hole into cylinder.

3. Pull starter handle slowly several times

to distribute oil.

4. Replace with new spark plug.

ENGINE

FUEL SYSTEM

IMPORTANT: It is important to prevent

gum deposits from forming in essential

fuel system parts such as the carburetor,

fuel filter, fuel hose, or tank during storage.

Also, alcohol blended fuels (called gasohol

or using ethanol or methanol) can attract

moisture which leads to separation and

formation of acids during storage. Acidic gas

can damage the fuel system of an engine

while in storage.

•Empty the fuel tank by starting the engine

and letting it run until the fuel lines and

carburetor are empty.

•Never use engine or carburetor cleaner

products in the fuel tank or permanent

damage may occur.

OTHER

•Do not store gasoline from one season

to another.

•Replace your gasoline can if your can

starts to rust. Rust and/or dirt in your

gasoline will cause problems.

•If possible, store your tiller indoors and

cover it to give protection from dust and

dirt.

•Cover your tiller with a suitable protective

cover that does not retain moisture. Do

not use plastic. Plastic cannot breathe

which allows condensation to form and

will cause your unit to rust.

IMPORTANT: Never cover tiller while engine

and exhaust areas are still warm.

pada con un motor de combusti6n interno y no

se debe usar sobre, o cerca, de un terreno no

desarrollado cubierto de bosques, de arbustos

o de cesped, a menos que el sistema de escape

del motor venga equipado con un amortiguador

de chispas que cumpla con las leyes locales o

estatales (si existen). Si se usa un amortiguador

de chispas, el operador debe mantenerlo en

DESEMPAQUE DE LA CAJA DE CARTON

APRECAUCION:Tenga cuidado con las grapas

expuestas cuando maneje o deseche los mate-

riales de la caja de carton.

IMPORTANTE: Cuando desempaque y monte

la cultivadora, tenga cuidado de no estirar o

enredar los cables.

1. Corte las ligaduras del cable que aseguran

2. El mango puede ser montado en la posicion

alta o baja. Lentamente, levante el conjunto

del mango hacia arriba y alihe los agujeros

del mango con el agujero y ranura del panel

del mango.

3. Afloje el montaje de la quincalleria como

mostrado. AsegQrese que el perno hexago-

nal m_.s corto (1" de largo) este montado en

el agujero inferior del mango. Repita este

procedimiento en el otto lado. Apriete toda

la quincalleria con seguridad.

AViSO: Los cables no deben tocar el silenciador.

4. Corte las ligaduras del cable que aseguran

la cultivadora al rodillo y remueva la cultiva-

dora del rodillo.

5. Quitar el tornillo de fijacion del pilote de

profundidad para girar y remover el tornillo.

INSTALACION DEL CONJUNTO DE LA

Afloje la tuercas "A".

Inserte el soporte de la estaca entre las mita-

des del puntal del motor, con el resorte de la

estaca hacia abajo.

Aperen el soporte de la estaca en los pun-

tales del motor con los pernos hexagonales,

las arandelas de seguridad y las tuercas.

Apri@elos en forma segura. Tambien apriete

las tuercas "A".

La estaca de profundidad se tiene que mover

libremente. Si no Io hace, suelte el perno de

soporte.

SEGURIDAD

La operaci6n de cualquier cultivadora puede hacer que salten objetos extrahos dentro

de sus ojos, Io que puede producir dahos graves en estos. Siempre use anteojos de

seguridad o protecciones para los ojos antes de hacer arrancar su cultivadora o mientras

este labrando con efla. Recomendamos el uso de la mascara de seguridad de visi6n

ampfia, para uso sobre los espejuelos o anteojos de seguridad est_tndar.

COMO USAR SU CULTIVADORA

Sepa como operar todos los controles antes de

agregar combustible y aceite o antes de tratar

de hacer arrancar el motor.

OPERACION DE LOS BRAZOS

• Apriete el control de los brazos contrael mango.

LABRADO

La velocidad y la profundidad del labrado son

reguladas por medio de la posici6n de la estaca

de profundidad y por la altura de la rueda. La es-

taca de profundidad siempre tiene que estar por

debajo de las ruedas para excavar. Sirve de freno

para retardar el movimiento de marcha hacia

adelante de la cultivadora, para permitir que los

brazos penetren en el suelo. Tambien, mientras

m&s se baje la estaca de profundidad dentro del

suelo, mas profunda sera la excavaci6n realizada

con los brazos.

ESTACA DE PROFUNDIDAD

Ajuste la estaca de profundidad removiendo la

abrazadera de horquilla y la clavija de horquilla.

Cambie la estaca de profundidad a la posici6n

deseada. Vuelva a colocar la clavija de horquilla

y la abrazadera de horquifla.

• Para el labrado normal, ajuste la estaca de

profundidad en el segundo o tercer agujero a

partir de la parte superior.

RUEDAS

Ajuste las ruedas removiendo la abrazadera

de horquilla y la clavija de horquilla. Cambie la

posicion de la rueda. Vuelva a colocar la abraza-

dera de horquilla y la clavija de horquilla.

PARA EL TRANSPORTE

_PRECAUCKSN: Antes de levantarla o trans-

portarla, permita que el motor de la cultivadora y

el silenciador se enfrien. Desconecte el alambre

de la bujia. Drene la gasolina del estanque de

combustible.

EN EL JARDiN

1. Incline la estaca de profundidad hacia adel-

ante, hasta que quede sujeta con el resorte

de la estaca.

2. Empuje los mangos de la cultivadora hacia

abajo, levantando los brazos por encima del

suelo.

3. Tire o empuje la cultivadora a la ubicaci6n

deseada.

EN LA ClUDAD

1. Desconecte el alambre de la bujia.

2. Drene el estanque de combustible.

3. Transp6rtela en la posici6n derecha hacia

arriba para evitar la fuga del aceite.

ANTES DE HACER ARRANCAR EL

MOTOR

IMPORTANTE: Tenga mucho cuidado de no

permitir que entre mugre al motor cua do re-

vise o anada aceiteo combustible. Use aceite

y combustible limpios y gu&rdelos en envases

aprobados, limpios y con tapa. Use embudos

para relleno limpios.

RELLENO DEL ACEITE DEL MOTOR

1. Remueva la etiqueta del motor.

2. Con el motor nivelado, remueva el tapon del

dep6sito de relleno del aceite del motor.

3. Llene el motor con aceite hasta el punto

de derramarse. Para verificar la capacidad

aproximada vea "ESPECIFICACIONES DEL

PRODUCTO" de este manual.

_I_PREOAUOi6N: Llene el estanque de com-

bustible hasta dentro de 1/2 pulgada de la parte

superior para evitar los derrames y para permitir

que se expanda el combustible. Si pot casualidad

se derrama la gasolina, aleje la ma.quina del a.rea

del derrame. Evite crear cualquiera fuente de

ignici6n hasta que se hayan desaparecido los

gases de la gasolina.

Limpie el aceite o el combustible derramado. No

almacene, derrame o use gasolina cerca de una

llama expuesta.

IMPORTANTE: Cuando se opere en temperatu-

ras pot debajo de 32°F (0°C) use gasolina de

invierno limpia y nueva para auedar a asegurar

un buen arra,nque en clima frio.

PREOAUOION: Combustibles mezclados con

alcohol (conocidos como gasohol, o el uso de

etanol o metanol) pueden atraer la humedad,

la que conduce a la separaci6n y formaci6n de

a.cidos durante el almacenamiento. La gasolina

acidica puede dafiar el sistema del combustible

de un motor durante el almacenamiento. Para

evitar los problemas con el motor, se debe vaciar

el sistema de combustible antes de guardarlo pot

un periodo de 30 dias o mas. Vac[e el estanque

de combustible, haga arrancar el motor y hagalo

funcionar hasta que las lineas del combustible

y el carburador queden vacios. La pr6xima

temporada use combustible nuevo. Vea las Ins-

trucciones para el AImacenamiento para mas

informaci6n. Nunca use productos de limpieza

para el motor o para el carburador en el estanque

del combustible pues se pueden producir dafios

permanentes.

PARA HACER ARRANCAR EL MOTOR

,_PRECAUCI6N: Mantenga la barra de control

de la impulsi6n en la posici6n "DESENGANCHA-

DO" cuando haga arrancar el motor.

Cuando intente arrancar el motor por la primera

vez o si al motor se le ha acabado la gasolina,

ser& necesario que estire varias veces del mango

arrancador de culateo para desplazar la gasolina

del estanque al motor.

1. AsegOrese que el alambre de la bujia este

conectado en forma adecuada.

2. Ponga el control de la aceleraci6n en la

posici6n de "RAPIDO" (FAST).

3. Con el motor completamente en la posici6n

de estrangulaci6n "CHOKE. Agarre el mango

del arrancador de culateo con una mano y

el mango de la cultivadora con la otra mano.

Tire el cordon hacia afuera, lentamente, hasta

que el motor Ilegue al comienzo del ciclo de

la compresi6n (el cord6n se sentira un poco

mas duro en este momento).

4. Tire el mango del arrancador de culateo

rapidamente. No permita que el mango del

arrancador se devuelva abruptamente en

contra del arrancador. Vuelva a repetir en

la posici6n de semiestrangulaci6n si Io es

necesario.

AViSO: Si los fuegos del motor se encienden

pero no arranca, mueva el control della estran-

gulaci6n a la posici6n de semiestrangulaci6n.

Tire del mando arrancador de culateo hasta que

el motor arranque.

5. Cuando arranque el motor, lentamente,

mueva el control de la estrangulaci6n a la

posici6n de "FUNCIONAMIENTO" (RUN) a

medida que se calienta el motor.

AVlSO: Un motor caliente requiere menos es-

trangulaci6n para empezar.

6. Mueva el control de la aceleraci6n a la

posici6n de funcionamiento deseada.

7. Permita que se caliente el motor por unos cu-

antos minutos antes de enganchar los brazos.

AVlSO: A mucha altura (sobre 3000 pies) o en

climas frios (debajo de 32 ° F [0° C]) puede que la

mezcla del combustible del carburador necesite

ajuste, para obtener el mejor resultado del motor.

RODAJE DE SU CULTIVADORA

Use su(s) correa(s), las poleas y el control de los

brazos antes de empezar a labrar.

• Haga arrancar el motor, saque los brazos fuera

del suelo presionando los mangos hacia abajo

y enganche el control de los brazos para hacer

arrancar la rotacion de los brazos. Permita que

los brazos roten pot cinco minutos.

• Revise la operacion de los brazos y ajOstelos,

si es necesario. Vea "REVISION DE LA OP-

ERACION DE LOS BRAZOS" en la seccion de

Servicio y Ajustes de este manual.

CONSEJOS PARA LABRAR

_k, PRECAUCI6N: Antes de acostumbrarse a

manejar su cultivadora, empiece el uso de esta

en el terreno con la aceleraci6n en la posicion

de "lento" (SLOW).

Para ayudarle a la cultivadora a moverse hacia

adelante, levante los mangos un poco (levantan-

do en esta forma la estaca de profundidad fuera

del suelo). Para hacer que la cultivadora ande

m&s lento presione los mangos hacia abajo.

Si est& forzandola o si la cultivadora esta vib-

rando, quiere decir que las ruedas y la estaca

de profundidad no estan ajustadas en forma

adecuada para el terreno que se esta labrando.

El ajuste adecuado de las ruedas y de la estaca

de profundidad se Iogra al probarlas en acci6n y

depende de las condiciones del suelo. (Mientras

mas duro o mas mojado este el suelo, menor

es la velocidad necesaria del motor y de los

brazos. La cultivadora va a cotter y saltar sobre

el terreno si se usa en estas malas condiciones

a una velocidad rapida.)

Si la cuWvadora est& bien ajustada, excavara con

poco esfuerzo pot parte del operador.

• El labrar quiere decir el excavar, dar vuelta y

romper el suelo duro antes de plantar. El suelo

suelto y blando permite el desarrollo de las

raices. La mejor profundidad de labrar es 4"

a 6". La cultivadora tambien puede despejar

el suelo de la mala hierba indeseables. La

descomposicion de esta mala hierba en-

riquece el suelo. Dependiendo del clima (lluvia

o viento), puede set recomendable labrar el

suelo a fines de la temporada de cultivo para

acondicionar el suelo aOn mas.

• Las condiciones del suelo son importantes

si se desea obtener un labrado adecuado.

Los brazos no van a penetrar facilmente en el

suelo seco y duro, Io que puede contribuir a un

rebote excesivo y a dificultades en el manejo

de su cultivadora. El terreno duro tiene que set

humedecido antes de labrarlo, sin embargo, si

el suelo esta demasiado mojado se convertir&

en bolas o se amontonara durante el labrado.

Espere a que el suelo este menos mojado

para poder obtener los mejores resultados.

Cuando se hagan labrados en el otofio, rem-

ueva las vides y el cesped alto para evitar que

se envuelvan alrededor del eje de los brazos

y retarden su operaci6n para el labrado.

• Va a descrubrir que el labrado se facilita si deja

una fila sin labrar entre las pasadas. Entonces 27

vuelva de nuevo entre las filas de cultivo. Hay

dos razones para hacer esto. Primero, las

vueltas amplias se pueden realizar con m&s

facilidad que las cerradas. Segundo, la culti-

vadora no estara empujandose a si misma y

a usted hacia la proxima hilera.

Ajuste la estaca de profundidad y la altura de

la rueda para labrado poco profundo cuando

RECOMENDACIONES GENERALES

La garantia de esta cultivadora no cubre los

articulos que hart estado sujetos al abuso o a

la negligencia del operador. Para recibir todo el

valor de la garantia, el operador tiene que

mantener la cultivadora segQn las instrucciones

descritas en este manual.

Hay algunos ajustes que se tienen que hacer en

forma peri6dica para poder mantener su cultiva-

dora adecuadamente.

Todos los ajustes en la seccion de Servicio y

Ajustes de este manual tienen que ser revisados

por Io menos una vez por cada temporada.

• Una vez al afio, cambie la bujia, limpie o cam-

bie el filtro de aire y revise si los brazos y las

correas est&n desgastadas. Una bujia nueva

y un filtro de aire limpio aseguran una mezcla

de aire-combustible adecuada y le ayuda a

que su motor funcione mejor y que dure mas.

ANTES DE CADA USO

1. Revise el nivel del aceite del motor.

2. Revise la operaci6n de los brazos.

3. Revise si hay sujetadores sueltos.

AVlSO: A pesar de que los aceites de multivisco-

sidad (5W-30, 10W-30, etc.) mejoran el arranque

en clima frio, estos aceites de multiviscosidad van

a aumentar el consumo de aceite cuando se usan

en temperaturas sobre 32°F (0°C). Revise el nivel

del aceite del motor m_ts amenudo, para evJtar un

posible daho en el motor, debido a que no tiene

suficiente aceite. Cambie el aceite despues de

50 horas de operaci6n o pot !o menos una vez

al aho si el tiller se utiliza menos 50 horas el aho.

Revise el nivel del aceite del carter antes dehacer

arrancar el motor y despues de cada inco (5)

horas de uso continuado. Agregue aceite de

motor SAE 30 o su equivalente. Apriete el tapon

del dep6sito de relleno del aceite en forma segura

cada vez que revise el nivel del aceJte.

PARA CAMBIAR EL ACEITE DEL MOTOR

Determine la gama de temperatura esperada

antes del cambJo del aceite. Todos los aceites

deben cumplir con los requisitos de la clasifi-

cacion de servJcio API SG-SL.

• AsegOrese que la cultivadora este en una

superficie nivelada.

• El aceite drenara mas facilmente cuando esta

caliente.

• 0tJlice un embudo para impedir el derrame de

aceite sobre la cultivadora, y recoja el aceJte

en un envase adecuado.

1. Remueva el tap6n del drenaje.

2. Incline la cultivadora hacia adelante para

drenar el aceJte.

3. Despues de que el aceite se haya drenado-

completamente, vuelva a colocar el tapon

del drenaje del aceite y aprJ6telo en forma

segura.

4. Remueva el tap6n del dep6sito de relleno

de aceite. Tenga cuidado de no permJtir que

la mugre entre al motor. 29

5. Vuelva a Ilenar el motor con aceJte. Yea

"RELLENO DEL MOTOR CON ACEITE" en

la seccion de Operacion de este manual.

Dele servicio al cartucho del filtro de aire cada

50 horas y mas a menudo si el motor se usa en

condiciones muy polvorosas.

1. Suelte los tornillo del filtro de aire.

2. Remueva la cubierta del filtro de aire.

3. Cuidadosamente, remueva el cartucho del

filtro de aJre. Tenga cuidado. No permita que

mugre o basura caigan dentro del carbura-

dot.

4. Limpielo golpeandolo suavemente en una

superficie plan&

reempla, celo.

5. LJmpie y vuelva a colocar la cubierta. AprJete

los tornillo en forma segura.

tales como el kerosene, no deben set utilizado

para IJmpiar el cartucho. Pueden ocasionar el

deterioro de este. No aceite el cartucho. No use

SJSTEMA DE ENFRIAMIENTO

Su motor se enfria con aire. Para obtener el ren-

dimiento del motor adecuado y larga duracion

mantenga su motor limpio.

• Limpie la rejilla de aire frecuentemente usando

un cepillo de cerdas duras.

• Remueva la caja del ventilador y limpJela si

es necesario.

• Mantenga las aletas del cilindro sin mugre o

paja.

No opere la cultivadora sin el silenciador. No ma-

nipulee el sistema de escape. Los silenciadores o

los amortiguadores de chispas dafiados pueden

crear un peligro de incendio.

Inspecci6nelos peri6dicamente y ca.mbielos si

es necesario. Si su motor viene equipado con

un conjunto de rejilla para el amortiguador de

chispas, remuevalo cada 50 horas para limpiarlo

e inspeccionarlo. Cambielo si es necesario.

BUJiA

Cambie las bujias al comienzo de cada tempo-

rada de cultivo, o despues de 50 horas de uso, Io

que suceda primero. El tipo de bujia y la abertura

aparece en las

"ESPECIFICAC!ONES DEL PRODUCTO" en la

p&gina 21 de este manual.

TRANSMISION

Su transmision est& sellada y no va a necesitar

lubricaci6n.

LIMPIEZA

No limpie su cultivadora cuando el motor y la

transmision esten calientes. No recomendamos

el uso de agua presurizada (manguera del

jardin, etc.) para limpiar su unidad a menos que

el Area de la junta alrededor de la transmision y

del silenciador del motor, del filtro de aire y del

carburador se cubran ara protejeMos del agua.

El agua en la transmisi6n y/o el motor acortara

la vida de su cultivadora.

• Limpie todo material extrafio del motor, las

ruedas, el pulido, etc.

• Mantenga las superficies pulidas y las

ruedas sin derrames de gasolina, aceite, etc.

• Proteja las superficies pintadas con cera tipo

automotriz.

_,PRECAUCl6N: Desconecte el alambre de

la bujia y pongalo en donde no pueda entrar en

contacto con la bujia.

CULTIVADORA

PARA AJUSTAR LA ALTURA DEL MANGO

El montaje en la f&brica se ha realizado usando la

altura m&s baja del mango. Seleccione la altura

del mango que mejor se acomode a sus condi-

clones de labracion. La altura del mango ser&

diferente cuando la cultivadora excave el suelo.

1. Si se desea una mayor altura para el

mango, suelte las cuatro tuercas que ase-

guran el panel del mango en los puntales

del motor.

2. Deslice el panel del mango a la ubicacion

deseada.

3. Apriete las cuatro tuercas en forma segura.

exteriores, asegOrese que el conjunto del brazo

derecho (marcado con "R") y el conjunto del

brazo izquierdo (marcado con "E') esten mon-

tados en el lado correcto del eje de los brazos.

REVISION DE LA OPERACION DE LOS

BRAZOS

_IPRECAUCi6N: Desconecte el alambre de la

bujia para evitar que arranque mientras se est&

revisando la operaci6n de los brazos.

Para obtener una operaci6n de los brazos adec-

uada, la palanca de control de los brazos tiene

que estar en contra del cuerpo del control y se

tiene que remover toda la soltura del alambre

interior del cable de control, cuando el control

est& en la posicion de "APAGADO" (OFF) (arriba).

Si la palanca y el cable est&n sueltos, suelte la

abrazadera del cable en el extremo inferior de

este. Tire el cable hacia arriba para remover la

soltura, sin extender el resorte en el extremo del

cable, y,vuelva a apretar la abrazadera del cable.

REVISION FINAL EN LA POSICION DE

"APAGADO" (OFF)

1. Con el control de los brazos en la posici6n

de "APAGADO" (OFF) (arriba), empuje hacia

abajo el mango para levantar los brazos fuera

del suelo.

2. Lentamente, tire el mango del arrancador de

culateo mientras se observan los brazos. Los

brazos no deben rotar.

3. Si los brazos rotan, el alambre interior del

cable de control esta demasiado apretado,

extendiendo el resorte inferior y esta engan-

chando los brazos. Suelte la abrazadera del

cable y empuje el cable hacia abajo, solo Io

suficiente como para aliviar la tension del

resorte. Apriete la abrazadera del cable.

4. Vuelva a revisar en la posicion de "APAGADO"

(OFF) y aj0stelo si es necesario.

REVISION FINAL EN LA POSICION DE "ENCEN-

DIDO" (ON)

5. Con el control de los brazos en la posici6n

de "ENCENDIDO" (ON) (sujeto abajo en el

mango), empuje hacia abajo el mango para

levantar los brazos fuera del suelo.

6. Lentamente, tire el mango del arrancador de

culateo mientras se observan los brazos. Los

brazos deben rotar hacia adelante.

Cambie la correa V si se ha estirado consider-

ablemente o si est& partida o si los bordes estan

desgastados.

1. La protecci6n de la correa tiene que remov-

erse para darle servicio a la correa. Vea

MOTOR

El mantenimiento, la reparacion, o el reemplazo

de cualquier dispositivos o sistemas del control

de la emisi6n, los cuales sean hechos al costo

del cliente, pueden ser realizados por cualquier

individuo o establecimJento de reparaci6n de

motor. Los reparos que caen bajo garantia deben

ser realizados por un establecimiento de servicio

de reparacion de motor autorizado.

PARA AJUSTAR EL CARBURADOR

El carburador tiene un chorro de alta velocidad

y ha sido preajustado en la f&brica y no deberia

necesitar ajustes. Sin embargo, se pueden

necesitar ajustes de menor importancia para

compensar por las diferencias en el combustible,

temperatura, altura o carga. Si el carburador

necesita ajustes, pongase en contacto con su

centro/departamento de servicio autorizado

m&s cercano.

IMPORTANTE: Nunca manipule el regulador del

motor el que ha sido ajusta do en la fabrica para

la velocidad del motor adecuada puede set pelf

groso hacer funcionar el motor a una velocidad

pot sobre elajuste de lata velocidad de la fabrica.

Si cree que la velocidad alta regulada del motor

necesita ajuste, p6ngase en contacto con su

centro de servicio cualificado, el cual cuenta con

el equipoa decuado y la experiencia para hacer

321os ajustes necesarJos.

Inmediatamente prepare su cultivadora para el

almacenamiento al final de la temporada o si la

unidad no se va a usar pot 30 dias o m&s.

_ILPREOAUOI6N: Nunca almacene la cultiva-

dora con gasolina en el estanque dentro de un

edificio en donde los gases pueden alcanzar una

llama expuesta o una chispa. Permita que el mo-

tor se enfrie antes de almacenarlo en cualquier

recinto privado.

la seccion de Mantenimiento en este manual).

2. Inspeccione y cambie las correas, si es nece-

sario (vea las instrucciones para el cambio de

la correa en la secci6n de Servicio y Ajustes

3. Lubriquela segOn se muestra en la seccion

de Mantenimiento en este manual.

4. AsegOrese que todas las tuercas, pernos y

tornillos esten apretados en forma segura.

Inspeccione las partes movibles para verifi-

car si est&n dafiadas, rotas o desgastadas.

Cambielas si es necesario.

5. Retoque todas las superficies pintadas que

esten oxidadas o picadas; use una lija suave-

mente antes de pintar.

MOTOR

SISTEMA DE COMBUSTIBLE

IMPORTANTE: Es importante evitar que se

formen depositos de goma en partes fundamen-

tales del sistema de combustible tales como el

carburador, el filtro del combustible, la manguera

del combustible o en el estanque durante el

almacenamiento. La experiencia tambien indica

que los combustibles mezclados con alcohol

(conocido como gasohol o que tienen etanol

o metanol) pueden atraer humedad, Io que

conduce a la separaci6n de &cidos durante el

almacenamiento. La gasolina &cidica puede

dafiar el sistema de combustible de un motor

durante el periodo de almacenamiento.

• Vaciar el dep6sito del carburante poniendo en

marcha el motor y dej&ndolo funcionar hasta

que el carburante termine el carburador este

vacio.

• Nunca use los productos para limpieza del

carburador o del motor en el estanque de

combustible pues se pueden producir dafios

permanentes.

• Use combustible nuevo la proximatemporada.

AVlSO: El estabilizador de combustible es una

alternativa aceptable para reducir a un minimo

la formaci6n de depositos de goma en el com-

bustible durante el periodo de almacenamiento.

Agregue estabilizador a la gasolina en el es-

tanque de combustible o en el envase para el

almacenamiento. Siempre siga la proporci6n de

mezcla que se encuentra en el envase del esta-

bilizador. Haga funcionar el motor por Io menos

10 minutos despues de agregar el estabilizador,

para permitir que este Ilegue al carburador. No

vaciar la gasolina del estanque de gasolina y el

carburador si se est& usando estabilizador de

combustible.

ACEITE DEL MOTOR

Drene el aceite (con el motor caliente) y c&mbielo

con aceite de motor limpio. (Vea "MOTOR" en

la secci6n de Mantenimiento de este manual.)

1. Remueva la bujia.

2. Vacie una onza de aceite atraves del agujero

de la bujia en el cilindro.

3. Tire el mango del arrancador, lentamente,

varias veces para distribuir el aceite.

4. Cambie por una bujia nueva.

OTROS

• No guarde la gasolina de una temporada a

la otra.

• Cambie el envase de la gasolina si se emp-

ieza a oxidar. La oxidaci6n y/o la mugre en su

gasolina producir&n problemas.

• Si es posible, guarde su unidad en un recinto

cerrado y cObrala para protegerla contra el

polvo y la mugre.

• Cubra su unidad con un forro protector ad-

ecuado que no retenga la humedad. No use

pl&stico. El pl&stico no puede respirar, Io que

permite la formaci6n de condensaci6n, Io que

producir& la oxidaci6n de su unidad.

IMPORTANTE: Nunca cubra la cultivadora

mientras el motor y las areas de escape toda-

via estan calientes.
