Introduction
Crest Audio, the first company to offer computer controlled amplification now raises the bar.
With the introduction of the CKi series of amplifiers,
Crest Audio has added many standard features that
other manufactures either charge additional for or
don’t offer at all.Whether your requirements are simple or extremely complex, CKi series amplification systems are perfect for permanent installations of any
size. As with all Crest Audio amplifiers, reliability and
sonic performance are the most important factors in
the amplifiers design.
With three different types of amplifiers, two
add-on modules, and plug in options, the CKi series of
amplifiers allows you the flexibility to install exactly
what you need to do the job. CKiS amplifiers are the
low impedance series, CKiV units are specially
designed for distributed systems, and CKiX is the 100
Volt, transformer isolated version of the amplifier.
Module options include NxEtherNet and
NxCobraNet cards which can be ordered installed in
the amplifiers or easily added later. The NxEtherNet
card is an ethernet based network module that enables
the amplifier to communicate with NexSys and
MediaMatrix software for control and reporting of
amplifier functions by remote computer control. The
NxCobraNet card incorporates all of the functionality
of the NxEtherNet module plus the ability to decode
2 channels of CobraNet digital audio.
CKi amplifiers standard features include

Fault I/O for connection to monitoring systems

(x20, 0dB / .775V, and x40), mode switch (stereo, parallel, bridged), ground lift switch, and removable detented potentiometers. In addition, status LEDs are provided on the front and rear of the unit for signal, ACL,
IGM, and protect conditions. Power monitoring is by
two LEDs, one which displays that power is present to
the amplifier and one that signifies that the amplifier is
operating (Active LED). Input is through 3-pin euro
style connectors and output is provided on 4 position
barrier strips. Fault I/O closure outputs are provided
on a three pin euro-style connector to alert external
supervisory systems, such as a control room display, if
an amp problem exists.
Amplifier options available include NxDSP
processor plug-in board and the transformer input isolation board. The NxDSP option allows control of
speaker related functions such as delay, EQ, and limiting.The transformer isolation board helps to eliminate
problems with improper audio grounding and impedance mis-matches between equipment.
Crest TourClass protection includes active clip
limiting (ACL) which prevents speaker damage by providing gentle gain reduction at the onset of clipping.
Instantaneous gain modulation (IGM) monitors speaker loads to detect conditions that overstress amplifiers. Autoramp gradually increases gain to the preset
amplifier setting when the amplifier is turned on.

NxCobraNet Module
Optional Module for NexSys Control and CobraNet Digital Audio

The NxCobraNet® module supports all NexSys control and monitoring functions
as well as delivering two channels of CobraNet digital audio to the amplifier on one ethernet cable. Supported computer controlled NexSys functions include gain, sequential
power, and real time load monitoring.Amplifier monitoring includes input and output level
(VU), DC protect, thermal protect, IGM, clip status, power state,AC mains, heatsink temperature, gain selection, ground lift status, and audio return.
The LED display allows easy in rack readout and monitoring of temperature,
gain, AC voltage, IP address, amplifier ID, as well as CobraNet bundle and channel status.
Individual indicators display fault and mute status by channel as well as ethernet link and
data indicators.
The NxCobraNet module requires no other additions to make it network ready.
The module has an RJ-45 ethernet connection that is made through a Category 5 compliant Neutrik EtherCon connector to ensure a secure connection.
Both the NxCobraNet and the NxEthernet modules can be ordered with CKi
amplifiers or easily installed in the field with two screws and a ribbon cable connection.

The Crest Audio NxEthernet module is designed for clients who need the control of
NexSys but do not need the digital audio delivery that the NxCobraNet module provides.

NxDSP
Optional DSP for NExSys Control and CobraNet Digital Audio

The Crest Audio NxDSP plug in board
for NxCobraNet and NxEthernet performs
various functions depending on which module
it is used with.
NxEthernet module: provides speaker
processing including limiting, equalization,
speaker alignment, delay and gain.
NxCobraNet module: in addition to
speaker processing the DSP installed in the
NxCobraNet module provides 8 channels of
CobraNet audio decoded to analog outputs
on the back of the module

Input Transformers
Optional Plug-in Input Transformers

Input isolation transformers are available for all CKi amplifiers. The plug- in module
can be specified with Sescom or Jensen isolation transformers.The modules can be installed
in the amplifier if ordered with the amplifiers or
easily added in the field.
