 31 Networking Basics  Please wait while the wizard applies the changes.    When the changes are complete, click Next.  Please wait while the wizard configures the computer.   This may take a few minutes.
 32 Networking Basics  In the window below, select the best option.  In this example, Create a Network Setup Disk has been selected.  You will run this disk on each of the computers on your network.  Click Next.   Insert a disk into the Floppy Disk Drive, in this case drive A:  Format the disk if you wish, and click Next.
 33  Networking Basics   Please wait while the wizard copies the files.   Please read the information under Here’s how in the screen below.  After you complete the Network Setup Wizard you will use the Network Setup Disk to run the Network Setup Wizard once on each of the computers on your network.  To continue, click Next.
 34 Networking Basics  Please read the information on this screen, then click Finish to complete the Network Setup Wizard.   The new settings will take effect when you restart the computer.  Click Yes to restart the computer.   You have completed configuring this computer.  Next, you will need to run the Network Setup Disk on all the other computers on your network.  After running the Network Setup Disk on all your computers, your new wireless network will be ready to use.

If you are using a DHCP-capable Gateway/Router you will not need to assign Static IP Addresses.  44 Networking Basics  Assigning a Static IP Address  • Select Use the following IP address   in the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties window,  • Input your IP address and subnet mask. (The IP Addresses on your network must be within the same range. For example, if one computer has an IP Address of 192.168.0.2, the other computers should have IP Addresses that are sequential, like 192.168.0.3 and 192.168.0.4.  The subnet mask must be the same for all the computers on the network.) • Input your DNS server addresses.   The DNS server information will be provided by your ISP (Internet Service Provider.)  • Click OK You have completed the assignment of a Static IP Address.  (You do not need to assign a Static IP Address if you have a DHCP-capable Gateway/Router.)
 45  Networking Basics  Adding and Sharing Printers in Windows XP After you have run the Network Setup Wizard on all the computers in your network (please see the Network Setup Wizard section at the beginning of Networking Basics,) you can use the Add Printer Wizard to add or share a printer on your network.   Whether you want to add a local printer (a printer connected directly to one computer,) share an LPR printer (a printer connected to a print server) or share a network printer (a printer connected to your network through a Gateway/Router,) use the Add Printer Wizard. Please follow the directions below: First, make sure that you have run the Network Setup Wizard on all of the computers on your network. We will show you 3 ways to use the Add Printer Wizard 1. Adding a local printer 2. Sharing an network printer 3. Sharing an LPR printer Adding a local printer                                                                   (A printer connected directly to a computer) A printer that is not shared on the network and is connected directly to one computer is called a local printer.  If you do not need to share your printer on a network, follow these directions to add the printer to one computer.  • Go to Start> Printers and Faxes

Please follow these directions to use the Add Printer Wizard to share a printer on your network:      • Go to Start> Printers and Faxes • Click on Add a Printer • Click Next

After you run the Add Printer Wizard on all the computers in the network, you can share the printer.
 53 Networking Basics  Sharing an LPR printer To share an LPR printer (using a print server,) you will need a Print Server such as the DP-101P+ or the DP-313 or a Gateway/Router with a printer port such as the DI-713P.  Please make sure that you have run the Network Setup Wizard on all the computers on your network. To share an LPR printer, please follow these directions:     • Go to Start>  Printers  and Faxes  • Click on   Add a Printer  The screen to the right will display.  • Click Next  • Select  A Network Printer         • Click Next
 54 Networking Basics  Sharing an LPR printer       • Select Create a new port  • From the pull-down menu, select Standard TCP/IP Port, as shown. • Click Next   • Please read the instructions on this screen. • Click Next • Enter the Printer IP Address and the Port Name, as shown.       • Click Next

 62 Limited Warranty and Registration D-Link Systems, Inc. (“D-Link”) provides this 3-Year warranty for its product only to the person or entity who originally purchased the product from:  • D-Link or its authorized reseller or distributor. • Products purchased and delivered with the fifty United States, the District of Columbia, US Possessions or Protectorates, US Military Installations, addresses with an APO or FPO.   3-Year Limited Hardware Warranty: D-Link warrants that the hardware portion of the D-Link products described below (“Hardware”) will be free from material defects in workmanship and materials from the date of original retail purchase of the Hardware, for the period set forth below applicable to the product type (“Warranty Period”).  3-Year Limited Warranty for the Product(s) is defined as follows • Hardware (excluding power supplies and fans)  • Spare parts and spare kits Ninety (90) days.  D-Link’s sole obligation shall be to repair or replace the defective Hardware at no charge to the original owner.
