You will know what is happening day or night with built in night vision, motion and sound detection sending notifications to the mydlink™ app. The rotatable head makes discrete installations easy even on ceilings. Do not open the device or attempt to repair or service it. 2. Make sure the the SD card slot cover is securely fastened before placing the camera outside. 3. Do not submerge the device in liquid or attempt to clean it with liquids or solvents. To clean the device, disconnect from the power outlet and use a damp towel. Before you Begin Plan the location of your camera: 1. Verify that your camera is electrically rated to operate with the power available in your location. 2. Connect the camera's power adapter into electrical outlets that are not controlled by a wall switch. This will help you to avoid accidentally turning off power to the device. 3. Be sure to plug the power cables into properly grounded electrical outlets in order to help prevent against electrical shock. D-Link DCS-8600LH User Manual Section 2 - Installation Wireless Installation Considerations The D-Link wireless router lets you access your network using a wireless connection from virtually anywhere within the operating range of your wireless network. Keep in mind that the number, thickness and location of walls, ceilings, or other objects that the wireless signals must pass through may limit the range. Typical ranges vary depending on the types of materials and background RF (radio frequency) noise in your home or business. The key to maximizing wireless range is to follow these basic guidelines: 1. Keep the number of walls and ceilings between the D-Link router and other network devices to a minimum - each wall or ceiling can reduce your adapter’s range from 1 to 30 meters (3 to 90 feet). Position your devices so that the number of walls or ceilings is minimized. 2. Be aware of the direct line between network devices. A wall that is 0.5 meters (1.5 feet) thick, at a 45-degree angle appears to be almost 1 meter (3 feet) thick. At a 2-degree angle it looks over 14 meters (42 feet) thick! Position devices so that the signal will travel straight through a wall or ceiling (instead of at an angle) for better reception. 3. Building materials make a difference. A solid metal door or aluminum studs may have a negative effect on range. Try to position access points, wireless routers, and computers so that the signal passes through drywall or open doorways. Materials and objects such as glass, steel, metal, walls with insulation, water (fish tanks), mirrors, file cabinets, brick, and concrete will degrade your wireless signal. 4. Keep your product away at least 1 to 2 meters (3 to 6 feet) from electrical devices or appliances that generate RF noise. 5. If you are using 2.4 GHz cordless phones or X-10 (wireless products such as ceiling fans, lights, and home security systems), your wireless connection may degrade dramatically or drop completely. Make sure your 2.4 GHz phone base is as far away from your wireless devices as possible. The base transmits a signal even if the phone is not in use. D-Link DCS-8600LH User Manual Section 2 - Installation Getting Started Mounting the Camera Step 1 Place the baseplate at the desired location, assuring that it is at least 20cm from the ceiling. Make sure the screw is facing up and the holes are level. Use a pencil to mark the holes. Step 2 Using a 6.35 mm drill bit, drill two 25 mm deep holes over the pencil marks. For a plaster, drywall, or concrete wall, insert the plastic anchors to support the screws first. Step 3 Place the baseplate over the holes. Use the supplied screws to attach the baseplate to the wall. D-Link DCS-8600LH User Manual 10 Section 2 - Installation Step 4 Align the large top screw with the largest hole on the snap mount. Slide the mount down to lock into place. Step 5 Attach the back of the camera to the mount. Adjust the angle as desired. D-Link DCS-8600LH User Manual 11 Section 2 - Installation Mounting the Power Supply Step 6 Place the baseplate at the desired location, assuring that it is placed where close enough for the cord to reach a power outlet. Make sure the release tab facing up. Use a pencil to mark the holes. Step 7 Using a 6 mm drill bit, drill two 25 mm deep holes over the pencil marks. For a plaster, drywall, or concrete wall, insert the plastic anchors to support the screws first. 72 Step 8 Place the baseplate over the holes. Use the supplied screws to attach the baseplate to the wall. D-Link DCS-8600LH User Manual 12 Section 2 - Installation Step 9 Align the power supply with the baseplate. Press towards the wall to snap into place. Step 10 Connect the USB cable from the camera to the power supply. Plug the power supply into the power outlet. 10 Note: Both power cords can be used both indoors and out. D-Link DCS-8600LH User Manual 13 Section 2 - Installation Setting up the Canera Through mydlink App Please follow the instructions below to set up your Full HD Outdoor Wi-Fi Camera. Step 1: Download the mydlink app from the App Store (iPhone or iPad) or Google Play (Android). Note: Ensure your device is connected wirelessly to the network that DCS-8600LH will be in. Step 2: Launch the mydlink app and create a new account or sign in to your existing account. Note: If you are asked about allowing the app to access your location, select Allow. Make sure location services are turned on in your phone’s settings. D-Link DCS-8600LH User Manual 14 Section 2 - Installation Step 3: After logging in, tap the Menu icon in the top-left corner, select Add New Device and follow the on-screen instructions to connect to your camera. Bluetooth needs to be enabled on your phone. Step 4: When you are asked to scan a QR code, select Yes or No. If you selected Yes: Scan the QR code on the bottom of the the camera from the list, then press Next. If you selected No: Select the DCS-8600LH camera from the list, then press Next. Select Next. Final Step: Congratulations, your Full HD Outdoor Wi-Fi Camera is now ready to use! Be sure to check the www.mydlink.com website periodically for the latest firmware updates to keep your product secure and up to date with the latest features. Note: If you experience issues registering this camera with your mydlink account, or if you purchased an open box or resold unit, perform a hard reset by pressing and holding the recessed reset button on the device for 10 seconds while the device is powered on. D-Link DCS-8600LH User Manual 15 Section 3 - mydlink Using the mydlink App Controlling Your Device After setting up your DCS-8600LH camera with a mydlink account in the mydlink app, you will be able to remotely access your camera through the app. After signing in to your mydlink account, you will see a screen similar to the following. If you have previously enabled "Add to shortcut" option while installing the camera, you will see a quick link to your camera directly on the home screen. Note: Screenshots are representative only. The mydlink app is constantly improving and so may appear different. Click on the shortcut link to your camera on the home screen and by default you will see a live video feed of your camera on the top half of the app. Or, you can access your DCS-8600LH by tapping the Menu icon in the top-left corner, select Control, and select Camera. In the selected device group page, you can select the specific camera in the carousel by tapping its icon. Click on this button to take a snapshot from the video stream. 17 Section 3 - mydlink Device The Device page contains several options for you to configure your camera. In the camera control page, after you have selected the specific camera you wish to configure, tap the of the camera’s name to enter the Device page. button to the right Device Photo Tap to add a customized photo of this device. Device Name Tap to change the device’s name. Device Location Tap to change or add a new location for this device. Wi-Fi Tap to change the wireless network this device will use to connect to the Internet. Note: The network must be the same as all your other mydlink devices that you wish to use the same account for. Microphone Motion Setting Tap to further configure sensitivity and active area of motion detection of camera. Night Vision Click to change night vision detection to on/off/ auto. Privacy Mode Click to enable Privacy Mode. Privacy mode will disable camera feed until you disable it again. Toggle sound recording on or off. You can also subscribe to mydlink Cloud from here and view your current subscription plan. 10 Upgrade Time Shows time of auto firmware upgrade. Tap to enter the firmware upgrade settings. You can choose the most suitable time for automatic updates. 11 Device ID 12 Current Firmware Version This displays the installed version of the firmware on your device. 13 Remove Device Tap this button to disconnect this device from your mydlink account. Identifies the device for support issues. 19 Section 3 - Usage Firmware Upgrade You can update the firmware for a specific device in this section. Auto-Upgrade Tap to enable/disable automatic Over-The-Air firmware updates. Note: It’s recommended you enable Auto-Upgrade to make sure you have the most up-to-date security updates. Upgrade Time Tap to change the time for automatic firmware updates to be downloaded and installed. Upgrade Reminder Tap to change the notification time whenever there is a new update. D-Link DCS-8600LH User Manual 20 Section 4 - Troubleshooting Troubleshooting 1. How can I access my DCS-8600LH remotely through the Internet? In order to use your DCS-8600LH remotely through the Internet using the mydlink app, you must register your camera with a mydlink account. You can do this using the free mydlink app. Please go to Using the mydlink™ App on page 14 for more information. 2. How do I update the firmware of my device? You can update your camera’s firmware by using the mydlink app. For more information, please see page 18. 3. What do I need to do before I upgrade from the mydlink Lite app to the mydlink app? Please refer to the app's store page for device compatibility requirements. Note: You can use the same mydlink account to log into the mydlink app. 4. Do I have to sign up for a new mydlink account when transferring to the mydlink app? No, you don’t need to sign up for a new mydlink account.
