If you purchased this router to share your high-speed Internet connection with other computers, you must have either an Ethernet-based Cable or DSL modem with an established Internet account from an Internet Service Provider (ISP).2.  It’s best to use the same computer that is connected to your modem for confi guring the DI-624 Multimode Wireless Router. The DI-624 acts as a DHCP server and will assign all the necessary IP address information on your network. See Appendix at the end of this Quick Installation Guide or the Manual on the       CD-ROM for setting each network adapter to automatically obtain an IP address.Check Your Package ContentsDI-624 Air Plus Xtreme G 2.4GHz Wireless RouterCD-ROM (containing Manual and Warranty)Ethernet (Straight Through) Cable        Using a power supply            with  a  different  volt-age rating will damage and void  the  warranty  of  this product.If any of the above items are missing, please contact your reseller.This product can be set up using any current web browser, i.e., Internet Explorer 6 or Netscape Navigator 7
2Connecting The DI-624 Wireless Router ToYour Network A. First, connect the power adapter to the receptor at the back panel of theDI-624 and then plug the other end of the power adapter to a wall outlet or powerstrip. The Power LED will turn ON to indicate proper operation. B. 1. Power off your Cable or DSL modem; some devices may not have a on/offswitch and will require you to unplug the power adapter. Now, the DI-624 shouldbe powered on and the Cable / DSL modem should be turned off.2. Cable / DSL modem (Power Off) – DI-624 (Power On)Connect an Ethernet cable to the Ethernet jack located on the Cable / DSLmodem. After the Ethernet cable is securely connected, power on the Cable /DSL modem by turning on the unit or plugging in the power adapter.3. Cable / DSL modem (Power On) – DI-624 (Power On)Insert the other end of the Ethernet cable to the WAN PORT on the back panelof the DI-624. The WAN LED light will illuminate to indicate proper connection. Ifthe WAN LED is not illuminated, please go back to step B1 and repeat theinstructions. C. Insert an Ethernet cable to LAN port 1 on the back panel of the DI-624 and anavailable Ethernet port on the network adapter in the computer you will use toconfigure the DI-624. The LED light for LAN Port 1 will illuminate to indicateproper connection. (Note: The LAN Ports on the DI-624 are Auto-MDI/MDIX.Meaning you can use a straight-through or crossover Ethernet cable to the LANPorts.) D. Computers equipped with 802.11g wireless adapters will be able to connect tothe DI-624. The DWL-G650 AirPlus Xtreme G Wireless Cardbus Adapter and theDWL-G520 AirPlus Xtreme G Wireless PCI Adapter will be able to connect outof the box with the router using their default wireless settings.B. WAN PORTThis is for the connectionof an Ethernet cable to theCable or DSL modemD. AntennasUsed towirelesslyconnect to802.11g or802.11badapters.C. LAN PORTSThese are theconnections for Ethernetcables to Ethernetenabled computers.A. Receptor forPower Adapter.Reset ButtonPressing this button restores the Router to its originalfactory default settings.
3Restart Your ComputerConnecting Additional ComputersTo The DI-624LOCAL NETWORK LEDs – asolid light on the port indicatesa connection to an Ethernetenabled computer on ports 1-4.This LED blinks during datatransmission.Power LED – a solidlight indicates a properconnection to the powersupply.WLAN LED – a solid lightindicates that the wirelesssegment is ready.  This LEDblinks during wireless datatransmission.Status LED – a blinking lightindicates that the DI-624 isfunctioning properly.When you have completed the steps in this Quick Installation Guide, your connectednetwork should look similar to this:Using additional Ethernet (CAT5 UTP) cables, connect your Ethernet-equippedcomputers to the remaining Ethernet LAN ports on the back panel of the DI-624WAN LED – a solid lightindicates connection on theWAN port.  This LED blinksduring data transmission.
4Once you have logged in, theHome screen will appear.Click Run WizardUsing The Setup WizardThe logon pop-up screen will appear.Open your Web browser andtype “http://192.168.0.1” into theURL address box. Then press theEnter or Return key.Type “admin” for the username andleave the password field blank.Click OK
5The Setup Wizard (continued)You will see the following screensSet up your new password.You have the option to establisha password.Click NextClick NextChoose your time zone fromthe drop down list.Click Next
6If you selected Dynamic IP Ad-dress, this screen will appear:(Used mainly for Cable Internetservice.)Click the “Clone MAC Address”button to automatically copy theMAC address of the networkadapter in your computer. You canalso manually type in the MACaddress.The Setup Wizard (continued)Select your Internet Connection.You will be prompted to select thetype of Internet connection for yourrouter.       If you are unsure of which settingto select, please contact yourInternet Service Provider.Click NextClick Next       This setup should be done on       the computer that is registered       on the ISP’s network.Please continue to Wireless Setup.A this point, the setup wizard will tryto auto-detect your Internet connec-tion type.  If you have a Dynamic orPPPoE connection, you will bebrought to the corresponding page.Otherwise, you will see the following screen:

You will need to complete allthe required fields.Click NextPlease continue to Wireless Setup.If your ISP uses PPPoE (Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet), andthis option is selected, then thisscreen will appear: (Used mainly forDSL Internet service.)Please be sure to remove anyexisting PPPoE client softwareinstalled on your computers.Enter in the username and pass-word provided to you by your ISP.Click NextPlease continue to Wireless Setup.
8If you wish to use encryption foryour 802.11g network, the DI-624 iscapable of two levels of wirelessencryption - 64-bit and 128-bit.  Bydefault the encryption is dis-abled. You can change the encryp-tion settings for more securewireless communication.The Setup Wizard (continued)The default wireless settings foryour 802.11g wireless network are:SSID = defaultChannel = 6You can change these settings tomatch an existing wireless network.Click NextWireless SetupClick Next
9Your Setup is Complete!Click RestartClick CloseTest Internet ConnectionYou will be returned to the Home tab.For additional settings or information,refer to the Advanced, Tools, orStatus tabs on the web-managementinterface; or to the Manual located onthe CD.Then relaunch your Web browser(i.e., Internet Explorer or NetscapeNavigator), to link to your favorite Website to test your Internet connection.Click to Exit
10To connect to the network, make sure thenetwork adapter in your computer is configuredproperly.
