Kartina LIKE Quick reference guide
Introduction
Kartina LIKE is the universal solution for playback of Full HD video, high-quality audio,
IPTV and VOD content Kartina TV.
Main Features
1. The newest Sigma Designs 8756 processor: provides excellent playback and high
operation speed.
2. The newest video codec of HEVC (H.265): the ratio of quality of the picture and
necessary speed of the Internet channel improved twice.
3. The newest format of broadcasting of DASH: an automatic choice of the best quality of
the picture depending on Internet channel speed (it is available in Kartina TV settings).
4. HDMI 1.4: provides the best quality of video and audio.
5. Resolution (upscaling): high-quality increase of resolution of SD video to Full HD (1080p)
or other HD resolution.
6. Flexible system of an output video: in any resolution and a format (from SD to 1080p,
24p/PAL/NTSC).

The remote control when working with Kartina TV
1. Command indicator — lashes in response to RC button pressing.
2. MUTE — turn the sound on/of. TV — switch to TV mode.
MOVIES — video library. POWER — toggle the standby mode.
3. 0–9 — selecting a channel number.
4. SEARCH — jump to a speciied playback position in the archive.
ZOOM —change the zoom factor for the video content being played.
RECENT — recently used objects.
5. V+/V- (volume up / volume down) — adjust the volume.
6. P+/P- (page up / page down) — fast channel switching, scroll up and
down in various lists.

Use alkaline AAA batteries.
Observe polarity when inserting batteries.
Direct the remote control to the player. There must be no obstacles between the RC and
the player. If the player is installed behind a tinted glass, the manufacturer may not
guarantee an undisturbed functioning of RC.
If RC functions only at short distances or stopps functioning, make sure to replace the
Batteries.
Some RC buttons may have several functions depending on the current player mode.
Some RC buttons may be available only in certain player modes or only during playback of
a certain content.

Installation
You can install the player on a horizontal surface. When installing the player in a hidden
location, such as enclosed cabinet or behind a TV set, you can use the IR extender cable to
allow the infrared signal from the remote control to reach the player.
To Prevent Overheating
Ensure there is enough space around the player for proper cooling. The space at each side
should be not less than 10 cm. When installing the player in an enclosed cabinet, please
ensure proper airlow and cooling inside the cabinet.
To avoid troubles, please read this manual carefully before using
the device. Keep the manual for future reference.
1. In case of malfunctioning, please contact an authorized service center. There are no
userserviceable parts inside the device; only a qualiied engineer may attempt repairing it.
Opening the device case voids the warranty.
2. To avoid electric shock, do not touch the plugged-in player with wet hands and do not allow
moisture within the case. If it happened, immediately unplug the device and contact an
authorized service center.
3. Clean the device only with a dry soft cloth. Do not use any liquid detergents or scouring
powder. In case of hard dirt, use special wipes suitable for PC cleaning. Make sure that the
wipe is dry enough (otherwise luid drops may get inside).

4. The device is intended for indoor use only. Do not expose it to direct sunlight, do not leave
it near a heater or radiator.
5. Do not use the device in rooms with high humidity such as bathroom.
6. Do not plug in the player immediately after moving it from a cold place into a warm one;
unpack it and leave for 1.5−2 hours in order to allow evaporation of condensate on internal
parts.
7. Please make sure to switch of the player and all relevant AV equipment before connecting
them.
8. Do not place any items on top of the player. The device needs some space for proper heat
dissipation. Do not place any vessels with liquid close to the device.
9. Severe voltage surge in AC mains may result in improper operation of the device. In this
case, please unplug the player or turn it of with the POWER button on the back panel of
the player, wait for at least 15 seconds, then turn it back on. The media player will restart,
and its functionality will be restored.
10. If you intend not to use the media player for a long period of time, for safety and power
saving reasons please make sure to unplug it from the AC mains. Please be aware that in
the standby mode the player still consumes signiicant power

wait for at least 15 seconds before turning it on again.

Before Getting Started
After switching on, the player performs automatic startup procedure, including boot-up of
the embedded operating system. It may take about 1 minute. After that you will get to the
Main screen (the ile browser showing the root folder).
Please connect relevant AV appliances only if all devices are switched of.
Please refer to the "Connections" section below for description of the majority of
connections.
Ensure the RC has batteries installed. Use alkaline AAA batteries. Observe polarity when
inserting batteries.
CAUTION: Danger of explosion if the battery is incorrectly replaced.
Replace only with the same or equivalent type recommended by the equipment manufacturer.
Dispose of used batteries according to manufacturer’s instructions.

Getting Started
1. Ensure there is enough space around the player for proper cooling. The space at each side
should be not less than 10 cm.
2. Ensure the RC has batteries installed.
3. Connect the player to your TV and to other A/V equipment in an appropriate way. Use HDMI
connection to get the best possible quality of video and audio. Make sure to switch of the
player and all relevant A/V equipment before connecting them. Ensure your TV and other
A/V equipment are conigured to use proper inputs.
4. Connect the power cable to the player and switch the player on using the power switch on
the back panel of the player. The player will perform its initial loading procedure,
which may take up to about 1 minute.
During the loading procedure, boot logo is shown on the TV screen.

If you do not see boot logo on the TV screen when you switch on the player, it may mean
some problem with the connection between the player and the TV or that a wrong video
input is chosen in the TV or A/V receiver/switch. In this case, recheck the cables and the
settings of the TV or A/V receiver/switch, or try to use diferent cables or a diferent way of
connecting the player to the TV.
●
If you see boot logo on the TV screen when you switch on the player, but then the picture
disappears and the other picture does not appears during at least 10 seconds, it may
mean that a wrong video output mode is conigured in the player. In this case, press the
"MODE" RC button, and then press one of the RC buttons "1", "2", "3", "4" or "5" to
switch to a diferent video output mode (see "Quick Setting of Video Output Mode" for
more information).
5.Finally, you should see the initial setup wizard, which will allow you to perform the initial
player coniguration. After that you should see the main screen of the player menu.

6. The main screen shows menu items which allow the use of diferent player functions and
access to all storage devices and network drives connected to the player. Adjust the player
settings as needed using "Setup" menu.
7. Use the menus in the “Setup/General/Interface language“screen to set user interface
display language for the media player.
8. Use the RC buttons "LEFT", "RIGHT", "UP", "DOWN", "ENTER", "RETURN" to navigate
through the player menu. Use the "POP UP MENU" RC button to show the list of available
commands. Use the "INFO" RC button to show the information about the selected item.
Quick Setting of Video Output Mode
The “MODE” RC button allows quick setting of video output mode without entering the player
setup menu. This way of video output coniguration may be required if you see no picture on
the screen after connecting your player to a TV.
Press the “MODE” RC button and then one of the RC buttons “1”, “2”, “3”, “4”, or “5” to
switch to one of the following video output modes respectively:
1. Composite PAL
2. Composite NTSC
3. HDMI, 480i, 60 Hz
4. HDMI, 720p, 60 Hz
5. HDMI, 1080i, 60 Hz
After you see a picture on the TV screen, press the “ENTER” RC button, and then go to the
player setup menu to perform a more precise coniguration of the video output mode if
needed.

NOTE: The procedure of quick setting of video output mode cannot be used during playback
and in some other cases. To ensure this procedure can be used, switch the player of, then
switch the player on, and then wait about 1 minute to ensure the player loading is inished.
After that press "STOP" RC button to ensure playback is stopped. Then use "MODE" RC
button.

Ethernet Network Setup (LAN)
Follow these steps to automatically set up a wired network connection:
1. Plug an Ethernet cable into the Ethernet connector on the media player. Plug the opposite
end of the Ethernet cable directly into a LAN port on a router or network switch.
2. Turn on the router, if it was turned of, and wait for a full load (1-3 min).
3. Connect the power cable to the player and switch the player on using the power switch on
the back panel of the player. It takes around 1minute for the player to boot up completely.
The media player is instructed to automatically receive an IP address and other parameters
required for TCP/IP network. Adjust the Kartina TV settings as needed using “Kartina. TV”
menu. Use RC remote control to input the “Subscription” and “Password” manually.

Wireless Network Setup (Wi-Fi)
Follow these steps to set up Wi-Fi connection:
1. Turn on the router, if it was turned of, and wait for a full load (1-3 min).
2. Connect the power cable to the player and switch the player on using the power switch on
the back panel of the player. It takes around 1minute for the player to boot up completely.
3. To enter the setup menu, press SETUP on your RC or enter the Setup folder in the Main
screen of the player (the ile browser showing the root folder). Then select the section
“Network”.
4. Select section “Connection: Wireless (Wi-Fi)”. Click the "Scan for Wi-Fi networks ..."
to search for WiFi networks and select your network SSID. Click to select ENTER. Either enter
the your name of the network in section “Wi-Fi network ID (SSID):”. If necessary, use the
RC buttons to type in the passcode for the access point, select “OK”, then press ENTER.
5. Click "Apply" and wait until the player will get IP-address (for example 192.168.0.199).
Return to the main menu by pressing the button Return.
If you see your network scanning, but can not connect to it, check the settings “Security”
and “Password”. They must match the settings on your router.

Setting subscription Kartina. TV
Change subscription settings may be needed to eliminate the problems associated with the
broadcast.
1. Connect the power cable to the player and switch the player on using the power switch on
the back panel of the player. It takes around 1minute for the player to boot up completely.
2. To enter the setup menu, press SETUP on your RC or enter the Setup folder in the Main
screen of the player (the ile browser showing the root folder). Then select the section
“Kartina. TV”.

Television viewing
Select the section of the menu Kartina. TV. Enter your subscription number and password. These
data you received from the operator after the purchase of the subscription (sent to the e-mail). Once
you have entered your data, there will be subscription settings, and then group channels. Select the
appropriate group and press ENTER. You should see a list of channels. Select the desired channel
and press ENTER to begin viewing. To see a list of channels while watching, press ENTER or Pop
Up Menu. Press the Top Menu button to exit to the main menu. To change the subscription settings
while watching the channel, press SETUP.
Creating a "Favorites" list
Adding channels to the "Favorites" list is possible both in the main channel list, and when you call
on-screen menu navigation through the channels during playback ( you must press the button
ENTER).
1. Move the cursor to the desired channel from the list and press the D (blue button). To the right of
the channel name will be an asterisk, indicating that the channel is added to your "Favorites" list.
2. To sort selected channels, go to the "Favorites" and arrange the channels in the desired order
using the buttons B (green button) (pick up the channel) and C (yellow button) (omit the channel
down).
Broadcast delay
Delay broadcasting - a feature that improves the convenience of viewing Internet TV. With this
function, people from different time zones can watch programs broadcast in another time zone,
convenient for yourself time. This allows residents to America to watch the morning evening
transmission and day view the most channels, although at this time Russian night. Broadcast delay is
designed for people in Europe and the United States. Offset You can set a maximum of 12 hours with
respect to Moscow time.

Why so? The diference between Moscow and the European average time is 2 hours, between
Moscow and Los Angeles (West Coast) - 11 hours. You can adjust the delay so that, the morning

Archive
To start working with the Archive, call the program guide button ENTER button on the remote.
Press the RIGHT ARROW to go to the program guide. Now you can see what all programs,
which already passed, marked red on the left the letter «R» - «Record». Each such record can
be call from the archive to see.
Select with the buttons | ◄◄ and ►► | desired day (selected day you can see at the top, for
example, "Tuesday, 01/27/2015"), then press the UP, DOWN to select the desired program
and press ENTER. After a few seconds, playback will start recording the desired transmission.
Press PLAY / PAUSE button, you can stop and continue playback. Start of transmission is
sometimes not exactly coincide with the time speciied in the program, which is due to the
technical features of Internet TV. You can ix this by rewinding. If you press once and release
the ►►, the on-screen scroll bar will appear. After the button is pressed again or ►► ◄◄, after a
few seconds will start the same record, but a minute later. If you press the ►► ◄◄ or several
times in succession, it will rewind the number of minutes corresponding to the number of clicks
(you can also just hold down the rewind button and follow the increase in the time). Likewise, it
acts fast in the opposite direction. In addition, to fast, you can use the buttons:
Up ARROW / Down ARROW - 1 minute, LEFT ARROW / RIGHT ARROW - 10 seconds.

Turning on and of the player
Press the remote POWER button to transfer the player to standby mode. Press this button
again to exit from standby mode. Depending on the player it can be used in hardware standby
mode or software standby. In hardware standby mode, the player's power is almost completely
of and set-top box is in power saving mode. In software standby mode, set-top box does not
give a signal to the video, but continues to operate. Exit standby mode takes just a few
seconds.
When the console is in the software standby mode, it still consumes a signiicant
amount of power. Not recommended for a long time to leave the console in software
standby mode unnecessarily.
To completely turn of the player, disconnect the power supply from the wall socket.
NOTE: After a complete turn of the player or the transfer of the player in the hardware
standby mode, it is recommended to wait about 1 minute before turning it on again.

Limitations
Compatibility of the player with a particular hardware (A/V equipment, network equipment,
disk drives, etc) may depend on various factors (particular hardware model, speciics of
hardware installation and usage, coniguration of the player and the hardware, etc). If the
player does not work correctly with a particular hardware, try to adjust the coniguration of the
player or hardware, try to use the hardware in a diferent way, or try to use some other
hardware.
Compatibility of the player with a particular media content (iles, discs, etc) may depend on
various factors (speciics of media content encoding, speciics of the coniguration of the
player, etc).) If the player does not play correctly a particular media content, try to adjust the
coniguration of the player, or try to use media content encoded in a diferent way.
