Failure to comply with these instructions can lead to injury to persons and damage to the machine. The manufacturer is not liable for damage deriving from the failure to comply with the user instructions. - Symbols used in these instructions Important warnings are identified by the symbols below. It is important to respect the warnings. Failure to respect the warnings could lead to electric shock, serious injury, burns, fire or damage to the appliance. - Danger! Failure to observe the warning may result in life threatening injury by electric shock. - Important! Failure to observe the warning could result in injury or damage to the appliance. Danger of burns!! Do not rest the power cable on hot elements. WARNING: In order to avoid overheating, never under any circumstances cover the appliances during operation, as this would lead to dangerous overheating. Danger of burns!! Failure to observe the warning could result in burns or scalds. Please note: This symbol indicates recommendations and important information for the user. - SAFETY WARNINGS - Danger! As the appliance operates using electricity, electric shocks can not be excluded. Therefore, follow the safety recommendations given: - To avoid risk of cable overheating, extension leads must not be used in powering this appliance. - If the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or an authorised service centre in order to eliminate all risk. Please contact Customer Experience, see enclosed guarantee. - Do not use the heater in a bathroom or in the vicinity of bathtubs, washbasins, showers or swimming pools. - use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. The heater must be positioned at least 50cm from furniture or other objects. Do not use this appliance in rooms measuring less than 4m². Do not place items over the radiator (such as to dry washing). In order to avoid a hazard due to inadvertent resetting of the thermal cutout, this appliance must not be supplied through an external switching device such as a timer, or connected to a circuit that is regularly switched on and off by the utility. - - Important! The appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning - 3 Please note: The appliance must not be placed immediately under a fixed power socket. The power cord should be fully removed from the cord storage unit when in use. The appliance is fitted with a tilt-switch which turns the appliance off if it should fall over. To restart the appliance, simply place it upright again. Always use the radiator in the vertical position. When you turn the appliance on for the first time, operate it at maximum for at least two hours. It is normal for the appliance to make "creaking" noises when first turned on. In order to eliminate the radiator’s “new” smell, set it to maximum power for at least a few hours when used for the first time. During this operation, the room in which the radiator is located must be ventilated. This appliance is filled with a precise quantity of oil and repairs requiring it to be opened must be carried out by the manufacturer or an authorised technical assistance centre only. In the event of oil leaks, please contact Customer Experience, see enclosed guarantee. As with any electrical appliance, whilst the instructions aim to cover as many eventualities as possible, caution and common sense should be applied when operating your - appliance, particularly in the vicinity of young children. A safety device will turn the radiator off. To reset, contact the technical assistance service. Fig. 1 Use in compliance with intended use Use this heater only as described in this manual. All other use is considered improper. This appliance is not suitable for commercial use. The manufacturer is not liable for damage deriving from improper use of the appliance. This is a household appliance only. It is not intended to be used in: • staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments; • farm houses; • by clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments; • bed and breakfast type environments. Use in this manner will invalidate the manufacturers warranty. Location The heater must not be placed immediately below a power outlet. Do not use this radiator in rooms having a surface area of less than 43 square feet (4 sq.m.). Power connection Electrical connection - Before plugging the radiator into the mains, check that your supply voltage is the same as that shown on the rating plate of the appliance. - If using more than one radiator at a time, it is important to ensure that the house mains is adequate to cope with the power requirements. - It is important to ensure that the socket is adequately earthed. - This appliance complies with directive 2004/108/ec on electromagnetic compatibility. The appliance will be set in the stand-by condition. The display will show the symbol. Keep loose clothing or bedding, furniture and flammable material away from the power outlet where the heater is plugged in. After an interruption of the power supply (power failure or appliance unplugged) the unit always reverts to off. When the unit is switched on by pressing the on-standby button, the operating conditions will be the same ones previously set. Introduction Thank you for choosing the TRD Oil Filled Radiator. We hope you enjoy using your new appliance. Take a few minutes to read these instructions. This will avoid all risks and damage to the appliance. DESCRIPTION (see figure on pag. 2). The terminology below will be used repeatedly in the following pages. A Display B On-standby button C Power button D Decrease button E Increase button F Timer button G Brightness button H Eco button I Cord holder L Easy wheels First use The first time the appliance is used, run it at the maximum power for at least two hours. During this time, ventilate the room thoroughly to eliminate the “new” smell released by the appliance. It is completely normal for the appliance to emit “creaking” sounds the first time it is run. USE "Easy wheel" system Heating Turn the radiator upside down on a rug or a soft surface in order to prevent damaging the paint finish. Fully unfold the wheels by turning them outwards (Fig. 1). Turn the radiator back to its upright position. To turn the appliance on, press the (B) button. Press button (C) to set the required power level: MIN ( ); MED ( ); MAX ( ). To select the desired temperature, press button + or - (E or D). By pushing the + or - button once, the temperature (shown 4 Brightness of the display on the display) will increase or decrease by 1°C. Keeping the + or - button depressed the value will increase or decrease rapidly. The appliance allows to set the temperature from 5° to 28°C. The appliance allows two different brightness settings for the display. The highest is active when any key button is pressed. After a few seconds of keyboard inactivity, the brightness will decrease to the operating brightness level. This lower level can be adjusted by means of the light button (G). Press the light button repeatedly until the desired brightness is reached (three brightness levels available). Anti-freeze function Key lock Setting the temperature to 5°C with the "-" button, the appliance will activate the Antifreeze function. The display will show the symbol, in this way the appliance will turn on automatically, at the max power, only if the room temperature falls below 5°C, to prevent freezing conditions. If you wish to go back to the Heating function, press the "+" button once. In order to avoid accidental operation, you can lock the keyboard using the keylock function. To activate this function press buttons + and - together for at least 3 seconds. The display shows the symbol and a double acoustic signal will be emitted. To deactivate the function proceed in the same way. Timer function Eco function This function can be activated in two different ways. Delayed start: With the appliance on-standby, press the timer button (F) . The symbol is displayed flashing together with the hours left before the appliance comes on. Change the hours using the + and - buttons, then wait a few seconds for the program to be stored. The display will return to off and the symbols remains on. When the programmed time has elapsed, the appliance will come on with the previous settings. When this function is active the appliance automatically sets the most appropriate power level to guarantee optimum comfort while reducing energy consumption. To activate this function press the "ECO" (H) button. The display will show symbol. If the selected temperature is much higher then the actual room temperature, the appliance will start automatically and heat the room rapidly. The appliance will automatically select the most economical power level (MAX-MED-MIN-OFF). If MAX power level has been selected using the button, the appliance will cycle between: MAX-MED-MINOFF. If MED power level has been selected, the appliance will cycle between: MED-MIN-OFF. If MIN power level has been selected, the appliance will cycle between: MIN-OFF. Delayed stop: with the appliance on, press the timer button . The symbol is displayed flashing together with the hours left before the appliance goes on-standby. Change the hours using the + and - buttons, then wait a few seconds for the program to be stored. The current settings and symbol are displayed. At the end of the set time the appliance switches on-standby automatically. To go back to operating without the timer, press the timer button twice. The timer symbol disappears from the display. Note: the time is settable from 0.5 to 24 hours. Working indicator The symbol colors. indicates the heating status by means of its RED: the unit is heating at the maximum power. YELLOW: the unit is heating at the medium power. GREEN: the unit is heating at the minimum power. Changing of the temperature scale absent: the unit is not heating. The display can show the temperature in both °F (Fahrenheit) and °C (Celsius). To select the desired temperature scale, 5 when the unit is in standby position, press and hold the "+" and "ECO" keys for at least 10 seconds, then release. The change of scale will be indicated by two short beeps. and store the appliance in a dry place. This appliance has been made to last many years without problems. In the event of malfunction or doubt, do not try and repair on your own. There would be the danger of fire or electric shock. Please refer to the enclosed guarantee leaflet for service and assistance details. Alarms The appliance has a diagnostic system that makes it possible to signal malfunctions. In case of problems, the display will show an alarm message: (Product failure) With this alarm the appliance does not operate. Check if the appliance is correctly positioned. If the problem persists, contact the nearest Customer Experience. (High temperature) When the product’s internal temperature is too high, the heating power will progressively and automatically be reduced. The display shows for two seconds, on and off. To remove the cause of this alarm check that the unit is not covered or obstructed. Safety device A safety device shuts the radiator down in the case of overheating. To start the radiator up again, contact Customer Experience. See enclosed guarantee leaflet. MAINTENANCE AND SERVICE Before performing any operations on the appliance, always unplug from the mains socket and leave to cool. Wipe the radiator with a soft damp cloth without using detergents or abrasives. If the radiator is not to be used for a long period of time, wrap the cable around the cable tidy TROUBLESHOOTING PROBLEM CAUSE SOLUTION The appliance doesn't - Be sure it is plugged in and that the electrical - Plug into the power outlet. work outlet is working. - Check for any obstruction. - Remove the obstruction and let the appliance cool down.
