This manual depicts the steps of how to setup the needed system components in order to
successfully control furniture pieces with Alexa.
Setup Alexa from Amazon
In order to setup the echo dot from amazon, please make sure that you already have an amazon
account. Then:



Download the Alexa APP from the App Store.
Open the Alexa App and login with your amazon account.
Follow the steps in the Alexa APP in order to setup the echo dot.
At the end of this step, you should be able to speak to Alexa and ask her for example to play your
favorite music.
1.1 Okin Commander App
To access the Okin Bed Commander and Okin Chair Commander skills, you need to change the
country/region settings of your account to USA using a web browser. This will allow you to use the
live skills from the store directly:







Go to Amazon website.
Go to "Your Account".
Click on "Content and Devices" under "Digital content and devices".
Go the "Settings" tab.
Click "Change" under "Country/Region Settings".
Fill the form with any valid American address and phone number (ex: 371 7th Ave, New York, NY
10001, USA and 15417543010)
Click "Update", a "Success" message should be displayed.
Note: We recommend applying these settings on a dedicated account for testing and not a personal
accout, because this will change the default store to amazon.com in addition to changes in Kindle
store.
Note:The steps must be undertaken due to a limitation in Amazon system that prevents users from
accessing digital content in a language othrt than the one spoken at the user's country of residence.
Setup Okin Commander
2.1 Okin Commander App
In order to connect your Okin smart Gateway with the amazon Internet of Thing infrastructure, you
will need to install the Okin Commander iOS App on your phone first . To do so:

Download the App from the App Store or Testflight
2.2 Creation of an account in the OKIN Commander App
As soon as you start your Okin Commander App on your phone, you will be receiving the following
screen.

Go ahead and hit the “create an account” link in order to create a new account.
Note: By the account creation, you should provide an Email address as a username
Note: This account has nothing to do with your amazon account. Your amazon account is only used
to setup Alexa. This account will be created in the amazon Internet of Things infrastructure in order
to link to Okin Commander Skills to your Echo dot.
Skill for the Alexa App:
Once the Okin Commander account is successfully created and the Amazon account is configured,
you will need to download and activate the Okin skills in the Alexa App:



Using your phone, open the Alexa App.
Click on "Skills".
In the search box enter "okincommander". "Okin Bed Commander" and "Okin Chair Commander"
should come up as results.

Go through each set of skills and click "Enable".
2.3 Configure your first Gateway
Now that you have setup the Echo dot from amazon, downloaded the Okin Commander App and
activated the Okin custom skills, you could just go ahead and open again the Okin Commander App
in order to configure your first Gateway. To get this done, just follow the instruction in the App.
2.4 Update of the Gateway
After setup check if there is an update for the gateway available.
