START GUIDE
Charging The Battery
Please fully charge the battery prior to using RIR-900. The battery can be charged using the
AC adaptor, or by making a USB connection with a PC or MAC. It takes approximately 4hrs to
fully charge the battery using either method.
To Power on the unit, hold the PLAY button for 1-2 seconds.
To Power off the unit, hold the PLAY button for 1-2 seconds.
☞If the HOLD switch is in the ON position, all buttons are disabled and the power on/off
function will NOT work. In this case, slide the HOLD switch
off.
Using a Memory Card
When inserting a memory card in the unit, carefully insert the memory card properly (as
shown in the diagram taking note of the correct side up) or you may damage the card
and/or Ext card slot.
☞You may need to format the memory card to the FAT file system prior to using it. Please
refer the user manual for more information.
How to Use Buttons
* ━ means press the button normally, while ━ ━ means press the button and hold
down for approximately 2 seconds.

Precautions before recording
These should be checked and followed before starting Radio Record (FM/AM record),
MIC Record (INT/EXT MIC record), record from AUDIO device (LINE-IN), and Record
reservations.
-Select memory to store in recording.
-Check the bit-rate. --- Setup in Main menu
*In general, it is recommended to record by initial bit-rate (Default), taking memory
capacity into consideration.
-Check the battery capacity.
*The capacity of battery is displayed in upper right on screen.
-Check the remaining memory

Internal (On-board) memory will be used if there is no external memory.
But, if there is external Memory,
select memory by pressing A-B/REPEAT key
Manual Record
-- Files recorded using the RIR-900 will be encoded as MP3 files.
To record Radio (FM/AM RECORD)
① Select the FM/AM broadcasting station you want to record.
② Press the Record button as shown in the diagram on the right to start recording.
When recording:
--- Upper right Record LED is ON (RED).
--- The screen display should change as shown when recording is in progress.
--- A file for the recording is created automatically.
--- The recorded file from FM radio is saved to the FM folder, and AM radio to the AM
folder.
*You can select the FM/AM folder by choosing NORMAL STYLE from PLAY Style.
* It is recommended that recording is carried out in an area with good reception
because when recording conditions are not good you may get noise/interference.
Receiving FM/AM radio
Use earphones to listen to FM/AM radio at the best possible sound quality, and use the
antenna provided by inserting earphone jack when listening by speaker.

▪ Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
▪ Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver
▪ Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which
the receiver is connected.
Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.
