START GUIDE Charging The Battery Please fully charge the battery prior to using RIR-900. The battery can be charged using the AC adaptor, or by making a USB connection with a PC or MAC. It takes approximately 4hrs to fully charge the battery using either method. To Power on the unit, hold the PLAY button for 1-2 seconds. To Power off the unit, hold the PLAY button for 1-2 seconds. ☞If the HOLD switch is in the ON position, all buttons are disabled and the power on/off function will NOT work. In this case, slide the HOLD switch off. Using a Memory Card When inserting a memory card in the unit, carefully insert the memory card properly (as shown in the diagram taking note of the correct side up) or you may damage the card and/or Ext card slot. ☞You may need to format the memory card to the FAT file system prior to using it. Please refer the user manual for more information. How to Use Buttons * ━ means press the button normally, while ━ ━ means press the button and hold down for approximately 2 seconds. Button ▶/■(Play/Stop) Operation and description (Power ON/OFF) ━ ━: Turns on or off. (MUSIC/VOICE Mode) ━ : Starts to play or stop a file. (FM/AM Menu/Main Menu/Play style) ━ : Select an item and confirm it. (FM/AM Mode) ━ : Gets into PRESET storage mode. (Recording/Pause) ━ : Pauses recording. ▲ (FILE UP) (MUSIC/VOICE Mode) ▼ (FILE DOWN) ◊ File selection window ◊ ━ : Moves the file list upward. ━ ━: Moves the file list consecutively. ◊ Playing ◊ ━ : Skips the previous file ━ ━ : Skips the previous files successively ◊ Stop ◊ ━ : Returns to the file selection window (FM/AM Mode) ━ : Searches for the preset stations (REW) (FF) (MUSIC/VOICE Mode) ◊ Playing ◊ ━ : Skips through a file 10 times faster than normal ◊ Stop ◊ ━ ━ : Skips through a file 100 times faster than normal ◊ Selecting a folder in the file selection window ◊ ━ :Selects a folder (FM/AM Mode) ━ : Searches up from the current frequency ━ ━ : Automatically selects the next frequency up from the current frequency MENU (MUSIC/VOICE/FM/AM Mode) ━ : Displays main menu window Info (Music/Voice Mode) ◊ Playing ◊ ━: Changes Equalizer DELETE/BACK (MUSIC/VOICE Mode) ◊ File selection window ◊ ━ : Deletes selected file /folder A-B /REPEAT (MUSIC/VOICE Mode) ━━ : Changes file repeating mode ◊ File selection window◊ ━ :Selects external memory (SD card/MMC) and embedded memory ◊ Playing ◊ ━ : Selects A-B section repeating (one touch repeater) (FM/AM Mode) ━: Selects external memory (SD card/MMC) and embedded memory MODE KEY ━ : Selects MUSIC, VOICE, FM, AM Mode (MUSIC/VOICE Mode) ━━ : Selects a play style Record (MUSIC/VOICE Mode) ◊ File selection window◊ ━ : Records with built in microphone or external microphone (FM/AM Mode) ━ : Records the radio station you are listening to (Recording) ━ : Pauses recording (Paused recording) ━ : Resumes recording RECODE Precautions before recording These should be checked and followed before starting Radio Record (FM/AM record), MIC Record (INT/EXT MIC record), record from AUDIO device (LINE-IN), and Record reservations. -Select memory to store in recording. -Check the bit-rate. --- Setup in Main menu *In general, it is recommended to record by initial bit-rate (Default), taking memory capacity into consideration. -Check the battery capacity. *The capacity of battery is displayed in upper right on screen. -Check the remaining memory Display for selecting record memory Internal (On-board) memory will be used if there is no external memory. But, if there is external Memory, select memory by pressing A-B/REPEAT key Manual Record -- Files recorded using the RIR-900 will be encoded as MP3 files. To record Radio (FM/AM RECORD) ① Select the FM/AM broadcasting station you want to record. ② Press the Record button as shown in the diagram on the right to start recording. When recording: --- Upper right Record LED is ON (RED). --- The screen display should change as shown when recording is in progress. --- A file for the recording is created automatically. --- The recorded file from FM radio is saved to the FM folder, and AM radio to the AM folder. *You can select the FM/AM folder by choosing NORMAL STYLE from PLAY Style. * It is recommended that recording is carried out in an area with good reception because when recording conditions are not good you may get noise/interference. Receiving FM/AM radio Use earphones to listen to FM/AM radio at the best possible sound quality, and use the antenna provided by inserting earphone jack when listening by speaker.
