Almost all of our wrestlers competed in 15-20 matches over the 5 day span. The overall quality of the camp can easily be observed by the fact that only Max Elling completed the week with a clean slate. Max defeated the PA District 11 Champion and State Qualifier Charlie Sell from Bangor 1-0 in the championship final. There were some highly competitive matches, and our boys were challenged throughout the week. Now for the results...the team finished the week an amazing 15-0, and took home the camp championship for the third straight year!!! The Liners now carry a 45 match consecutive win streak at camp. However, not everything was smooth sailing. The team won 5 duals that were separated by only a one match swing. Our finals match pitted us against a combined team of 9 Warren Hills wrestlers and wrestlers from Montoursville, PA (a school that we needed to go to criteria to defeat last year at camp). Our team came out on top with an 8 bout to 6 bout victory. For the team win, the boys collected the camp championship drawstring bags, and Max Elling was crowned our team's outstanding wrestler!!!! Again, congratulations to the attendees for all of the successes and for representing Phillipsburg proudly. Max Elling OW. Phillipsburg completes the clean sweep with another championship defeating a Warren Hills/Montoursville team 8-6. Meyer and Don Agans with huge wins. Streak moves to 44!!! Phillipsburg defeats Chestnut Ridge 11-7 in the semis. Tyler Agans and Rob Melise reversed decisions from our previous match. Phillipsburg defeats a tough Penn Grove team by a score of 9-5. The streak continues at 43. Next up: a rematch with Chestnut Ridge in the semis. This brings the streak to 42 straight wins at camp and this year’s team is now 12-0! Liners survive their toughest challenge yet as they defeat Chestnut Ridge (PA) by a 10-8 score. Josh Ramos & Lance Wissing sealed the win. With the match tied 8-8...Ramos came up with a huge fall. The match not only added a win, but gave the team criteria advantage. The win streak at Lyco Camp moves to 40 straight!!! The Liners survive a close one against Jersey Shore (PA) by a score of 8-7. Tim Hinkle and Robert Melise come up with huge wins to seal it. In the final match of the day, the Liners had a back and forth battle with Raritan. After going up 2-0 and then falling to 2-4... The Liners rattled off 8 straight victories to win 10-4. So many close matches in the dual....always fun scrapping with Raritan. Another clean slate for the Liners as they pick up two more wins to move to 8-0 on the camp. The streak continues at 38 straight!!! Brian Meyer and DJ Wissing both knocked off returning PA state qualifiers from Warrior Run in the afternoon session. Our second match was a close one against Penn Manor (PA), but DJ Wissing came through with a big win to seal the victory (10 bouts to 8).
