3. Personal safety

Safety Warnings
WARNING Read all safety warnings
and instructions. Failure to follow the warnings
and instructions may result in serious injury.

1. Work area safety
a. Keep work area clean and well lit.
Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents
b. Operate only in a well-ventilated area.
Paint thinners and solvents may
be harmful if inhaled.
c. Do not operate the sprayer in explosive
atmospheres, such as in the presence
of flammable liquids, gases, or dust. The
sprayer is able to create sparks resulting
in the ignition of the dust or fumes.
d. Keep children and bystanders
away while operating a sprayer.
Distractions can cause you to lose control.
2. Electrical safety
a. Sprayer plugs must match the outlet. Never
modify the plug in any way. Do not use any
adapter plugs with grounded sprayers.
Unmodified plugs and matching outlets
will reduce risk of electric shock.

a. Stay alert. Watch what you are doing and use
common sense when operating the sprayer.
Do not use the sprayer while tired or under
the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication.
A moment of inattention while operating the
sprayer increases the risk of injury to persons.
b. Dress properly. Do not wear loose
clothing or jewelry. Contain long hair.
Keep hair, clothing, and gloves away from
moving parts. Loose clothes, jewelry, or long
hair increases the risk of injury to persons as
a result of being caught in moving parts.
c. Avoid unintentional starting. Be sure the
trigger is off before connecting to the
power supply. Do not carry the sprayer with
your finger on the trigger or connect the sprayer
to the power supply with the trigger on.
d. Do not overreach. Keep proper footing
and balance at all times. Proper footing
and balance enables better control of the
sprayer in unexpected situations.

Use safety equipment.
Wear ANSI‑approved safety goggles,
a NIOSH‑approved respirator,
heavy‑duty work gloves and
non‑skid safety shoes when priming,
painting, cleaning, or servicing.

4. Sprayer use and care

b. Avoid body contact with grounded surfaces
such as pipes, radiators, ranges and
refrigerators. There is an increased risk of
electric shock if your body is grounded.

a. Do not force the sprayer. Use the
correct sprayer for your application.
The correct sprayer will do the job better and
safer at the rate for which it was designed.

c. Do not expose sprayers to rain or wet
conditions. Water entering a sprayer will
increase the risk of electric shock.

b. Do not use the sprayer if the switch
does not turn it on and off. Any sprayer
that cannot be controlled with the switch
is dangerous and must be repaired.

d. Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for
carrying, pulling or unplugging the sprayer.
Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges
or moving parts. Damaged or entangled
cords increase the risk of electric shock.
e. When operating a sprayer outdoors, use
an extension cord suitable for outdoor use.
Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use
reduces the risk of electric shock.
f. If operating a sprayer in a damp location
is unavoidable, use a Ground Fault Circuit
Interrupter (GFCI) protected supply.
Use of a GFCI reduces the risk of electric shock.

c. Disconnect the plug from the power
source before making any adjustments,
changing accessories, or storing sprayers.
Such preventive safety measures reduce the
risk of starting the sprayer accidentally.
d. Store idle sprayers out of the reach of
children and do not allow persons unfamiliar
with the sprayer or these instructions
to operate the sprayer. Sprayers are
dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
e. Maintain the sprayer. Check for misalignment
or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts
and any other condition that may affect the

5. Service
a. Have your sprayer serviced by a qualified
repair person using only identical
replacement parts. This will ensure that
the safety of the sprayer is maintained.

Paint Sprayer Safety Warnings
1.

INJECTION HAZARD!
Although this paint gun is airless,
it still puts out paint at a very high
pressure. Through improper use, paint
can be injected through a person’s skin,
leading to serious injury, possibly amputation.
If paint is accidentally injected into someone’s skin,
contact a doctor immediately. Do not treat an injection
injury as a simple cut. Injection can lead to amputation
and requires immediate surgical treatment.

These will damage the spray gun and void the warranty.
9. Do not spray flammable materials in vicinity
of open flame or near ignition sources. Motors,
electrical equipment, and controls can cause electrical
arcs that will ignite a flammable gas or vapor. Do not
store flammable liquids or gases in vicinity of this unit.
10. Keep fire-extinguishing equipment
present and in good-working order.
11. Keep pump away from spray area to avoid
contact with solvents and paint fumes.
12. Use Paint Sprayer with water-based or
mineral spirit-type materials only.
13. Do NOT use bleach, low-flash naphthalene,
acetone alcohol or toluene when cleaning
Paint Sprayer equipment.
14. Do NOT use solvents with flash points less than
70° F (21° C) to clean equipment. These may
cause an explosion. Examples of acceptable
cleaning solvents are water, mineral spirits and
lacquer thinner. Note that some of these solvents
may be inappropriate for certain kinds of paint;
follow the paint supplier’s recommendations.

Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS).

2. Do not point your sprayer at anyone, including
yourself. Do not place your hand in front of
Spray Gun’s nozzle or attempt to deflect paint
spray with your hand during use.
Gloves and clothing don’t offer adequate protection
from toxic paints, sealers, water-proofers, or stains.

15. Follow the material and solvent manufacturer’s
safety precautions and warnings.

3. Do not come into contact with a fluid stream
created by a leak in the paint hose.

17. When flushing Paint Sprayer system,
use lowest possible pressure setting.

4. Do not leave Paint Sprayer pressurized
while unattended.

18. All hoses and spray gun accessories used with Paint
Sprayer must be pressure rated at or above 3000 PSI.

5. Do not clean Spray Gun tip while it is
still connected to paint hose.

19. The Paint Sprayer must be plugged into
an outlet that is grounded in accordance
with all local codes and ordinances.

6. Keep the trigger and the electrical
cord plug clean and paint-free.

16. Keep paint hose away from sharp objects.
Bursting hoses may cause injury.
Examine hoses regularly and replace if damaged.

20. Use caution while spraying on windy days.

7. Do not run Paint Sprayer while empty.
Damage to the unit may occur.

23. Remove Spray Tip or turn to cleaning position
BEFORE cleaning or flushing Paint Sprayer system.
24. Do not use pliers to tighten or loosen
high pressure connections.
25.

Sparks from improper grounding
can ignite fumes!
Follow all local regulations regarding the
use of fluid supply containers and solvent
pails used with flushing the Paint Sprayer.
Use only conductive metal pails placed on a grounded
(concrete) surface. Do not place pails on
nonconductive surfaces (such as cardboard or paper).
Ground all metal pails by clamping one end of a ground
wire to the pail and the other end to a
grounded structure (such as a nearby pipe).
Maintain grounding, even when flushing or relieving
pressure from Paint Sprayer into metal pail.
The force of the spray can knock a metal pail over,
so hold down the metal pail and keep the metal part of
the spray gun set against the grounded metal pail when
pressing the spray gun trigger.

26. Maintain labels and nameplates on the sprayer.
These carry important safety information.
If unreadable or missing,
contact Harbor Freight Tools for a replacement.
27. Avoid unintentional starting. Prepare to begin work
before turning on the sprayer.

30. WARNING: Some dust created by power sanding,
sawing, grinding, drilling, and other construction
activities, contains chemicals known to the State
of California to cause cancer and birth defects or
other reproductive harm. Some examples of these
chemicals are:
• Lead from lead-based paints
• Crystalline silica from bricks and cement or other
masonry products
• Arsenic and chromium from chemically
treated lumber
Your risk from these exposures varies, depending
on how often you do this type of work. To reduce
your exposure to these chemicals: work in a well
ventilated area, and work with approved safety
equipment, such as those dust masks that are
specially designed to filter out microscopic particles.

31. WARNING: The cord of this product contains
lead and/or di (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP),
chemicals known to the State of California
to cause cancer, and birth defects or other

Extension Cords

Grounding

1. Grounded sprayers require a three
wire extension cord. Double Insulated sprayers
can use either a two or three wire extension cord.

TO PREVENT ELECTRIC SHOCK AND
DEATH FROM INCORRECT
GROUNDING WIRE CONNECTION:
Check with a qualified electrician if you are
in doubt as to whether the outlet is properly grounded.
Do not modify the power cord plug provided with the
sprayer. Never remove the grounding prong from the
plug. Do not use the sprayer if the power cord or plug
is damaged. If damaged, have it repaired by a service
facility before use. If the plug will not fit the outlet,
have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician.

Grounded Sprayers:
Sprayers With Three Prong Plugs

2. As the distance from the supply outlet increases, you
must use a heavier gauge extension cord. Using
extension cords with inadequately sized wire causes
a serious drop in voltage, resulting in loss of power
and possible sprayer damage. (See Table A.)
3. The smaller the gauge number of the wire, the
greater the capacity of the cord. For example,
a 14 gauge cord can carry a higher current
than a 16 gauge cord. (See Table A.)
4. When using more than one extension cord to make
up the total length, make sure each cord contains at
least the minimum wire size required. (See Table A.)
5. If you are using one extension cord for more
than one sprayer, add the nameplate amperes
and use the sum to determine the required
minimum cord size. (See Table A.)
6. If you are using an extension cord outdoors, make
sure it is marked with the suffix “W-A” (“W” in
Canada) to indicate it is acceptable for outdoor use.

3-Prong Plug and Outlet
1. Sprayers marked with “Grounding Required” have a
three wire cord and three prong grounding plug. The
plug must be connected to a properly grounded outlet.
If the sprayer should electrically malfunction or break
down, grounding provides a low resistance path to
carry electricity away from the user, reducing the risk
of electric shock. (See 3-Prong Plug and Outlet.)
2. The grounding prong in the plug is connected through
the green wire inside the cord to the grounding system
in the sprayer. The green wire in the cord must be
the only wire connected to the sprayer’s grounding
system and must never be attached to an electrically
“live” terminal. (See 3-Prong Plug and Outlet.)
3. The sprayer must be plugged into an appropriate
outlet, properly installed and grounded in accordance
with all codes and ordinances. The plug and
outlet should look like those in the preceding
illustration. (See 3-Prong Plug and Outlet.)

7. Make sure the extension cord is properly wired
and in good electrical condition. Always replace
a damaged extension cord or have it repaired
by a qualified electrician before using it.
8. Protect the extension cords from sharp objects,
excessive heat, and damp or wet areas.

to protect from overspray (paint mist).

tighten with two wrenches.

To Relieve Sprayer Pressure

Note: Always set to Prime mode between uses.

to safely release most pressure.

3. Point gun into paint pail and activate Sprayer
Trigger to relieve an remaining pressure.

Priming Spray Gun
This procedure is used for first time operation and also to
flush storage fluids out of the Sprayer.
Priming Water-Based vs. Oil-Based Paints
Oil-based Paint:
Flush with mineral spirits followed by warm clean water.
WARNING! TO PREVENT FIRE:
When using mineral spirits, ground gun by holding
it against a metal container while flushing.

4. Turn Prime/Spray switch to Prime mode.

Water-based (Latex) Paint:
Flush with warm clean water.
Priming and Startup Steps

as well as air bubbles will be purged from system.

bucket for 30 to 60 seconds then switch Power to Off.
3. Submerge Suction Tube in water or flushing solvent.

IMPORTANT: If solvent will not flow through hoses,
try pressing the red inlet release button underneath
the pump to loosen the inlet check ball.

8. Remove Suction Tube from water or flushing
solvent and submerge in paint pail.

12. Switch power On. Point gun into
waste bucket and pull trigger.

9. Switch power On.
13. Turn Spray/Prime Switch to Spray mode and
continue to spray into waste bucket.
14. Stop spraying. If the motor stops, the pump and tubes
are primed. If it does not stop, repeat priming steps.
15. Start Painting.

10. Paint should work itself from Suction Tube to Sprayer to
Priming Tube until paint discharges from Priming Tube.

11. Switch power off. Remove the Priming Tube
from the waste bucket and clip to Suction
Tube and submerge in paint pail.

Painting

Painting Techniques

Before painting, ensure the Sprayer has been primed
(see Priming and Startup steps) and verify
that Nozzle Tip is aligned properly.
Note: Remove or cover objects that you want
to protect from overspray and paint mist.

Keep the gun approximately 1 foot from the surface.

1. Keep gun straight and move arm across at a steady
rate while staying one foot from the surface.
1. Once primed, adjust nozzle to Spray setting.

2. Do not fan the gun or paint will be uneven.

2. Start spraying at the lowest setting on the Pressure
Control Knob and increase pressure as needed by
turning clockwise to create a good spray pattern.

Clearing Spray Tip

Occasionally, the Spray Gun Tip will become clogged with
paint. Follow these instructions to clear Spray Gun Tip.

5. Spray into waste bucket until clog clears.

6. Release Trigger.

2. Adjust nozzle to eject setting.

3. Turn Spray/Prime Switch to Spray mode.

Cleaning

5. Place Priming Tube in empty waste bucket and
submerge Suction Tube in water or flushing fluid.
1. Turn power off and turn Prime/Spray switch
to Prime mode to relieve pressure.

Flush until fluid
in hose is clear.

2. Unthread Spray Tip and remove.

6. Plug in Sprayer and turn on power.
Sprayer will start pumping and water or flushing solvent
as well as air bubbles will be purged from system.
Let fluids discharge from Priming Tube
into waste bucket until fluid is clear.

OFF

7. After fluid in Priming Tube is clear, switch Power to Off.
3. Drain paint from Tubes.

8. Turn to Spray mode and switch power to on.

4. Separate tubes.

13. Release trigger, turn power off and turn Prime/
Spray switch to Prime mode to relieve pressure.

9. Spray paint into paint pail.

10. Change to waste bucket as paint thins.

11. Turn to Prime mode.

12. Continue to flush until clear.

Long Term Storage
When cleaning for long term storage (more than 48 hours).
It is very important that the Paint Sprayer is not stored with
any water or water-based material left in the Pump, Hose,
Tubes, or Spray Gun. This will corrode the product.

6. Hold a rag over the paint
hose outlet.

IMPORTANT: Clean the
Sprayer before storage.
See “Cleaning” on
pages 16-17.
7. Switch Power to ON for
five seconds, then turn the
power OFF.

disconnect Tubes from

10. Wipe the sprayer with a clean cloth. Store in a
clean dry location out of reach of children.

Almacenamiento por periodos prolongados
Cuando realice una limpieza para un almacenamiento
por un periodo prolongado (más de 48 horas).
Es muy importante no almacenar el pulverizador de pintura con
restos de agua o materiales al agua en la bomba, manguera,
tubos o pistola pulverizadora. Esas sustancias causarán la
corrosión del producto.

PARA EVITAR DESCARGAS ELÉCTRICAS Y
LA MUERTE POR CAUSA DE UNA CONEXIÓN
A TIERRA INCORRECTA DE LOS CABLES:
Consulte a un electricista calificado si tiene
dudas acerca de la correcta conexión a tierra
del tomacorriente. No modifique el enchufe del cable
de suministro eléctrico que se proporciona con el
pulverizador. Nunca quite la pata de puesta a tierra
del enchufe. No utilice el pulverizador si el cable de
suministro eléctrico o el enchufe están dañados.
Si están dañados, antes de utilizarlos hágalos reparar
por un centro de servicio técnico. Si el enchufe no
entra en el tomacorriente, solicite a un electricista
calificado que instale un tomacorriente adecuado.

Cables de extensión
1. Los pulverizadores con puesta a tierra requieren un
cable de extensión de tres alambres. Los pulverizadores
con doble aislamiento pueden utilizarse con cables de
extensión de dos o tres alambres.
2. A medida que aumenta la distancia desde el
tomacorriente, se debe utilizar un cable de extensión de
mayor calibre. Utilizar un cable de extensión de calibre
inadecuado causará una fuerte caída en el voltaje de la
red eléctrica, lo cual ocasionará pérdida de potencia y
posibles daños en el pulverizador. (Vea la Tabla A).
3. Cuanto menor es el número de calibre del cable, mayor
es la capacidad de éste. Por ejemplo, un cable calibre
14 puede conducir mayor corriente que un cable
calibre 16. (Vea la Tabla A).
4. Cuando utilice más de un cable de extensión para cubrir
la longitud total, asegúrese de que cada cable tenga al
menos el calibre mínimo requerido. (Vea la Tabla A).
5. Si utiliza un cable de extensión para más de un
pulverizador, sume los amperios de las placas y utilice
esa cifra para determinar el calibre mínimo requerido
para el cable. (Vea la Tabla A).
6. Si utiliza un cable de extensión en exteriores, asegúrese
de que esté marcado con el sufijo "W-A" ("W" en Canadá)
que indica que es aceptable para uso en exteriores.
7. Asegúrese de que el cable de extensión esté
bien conectado y en buenas condiciones eléctricas.
Cuando un cable de extensión esté dañado,
siempre reemplácelo por otro o hágalo reparar por
un electricista calificado antes de utilizarlo.

Enchufe y tomacorriente de 3 patas

La pata de puesta a tierra del enchufe está conectada a
través del alambre verde del cable al sistema de puesta a
tierra ubicado en el pulverizador. El alambre verde del cable
debe ser el único alambre conectado al sistema de puesta a
tierra del pulverizador, y nunca debe conectarse a un terminal
con corriente. (Vea "Enchufe y tomacorriente de 3 patas").

Los pulverizadores que llevan la marca "Se requiere puesta
a tierra" poseen un cable de tres alambres y un enchufe
de tres patas para puesta a tierra. Se debe conectar el
enchufe a un tomacorriente con adecuada conexión a
tierra. En caso de mal funcionamiento eléctrico o avería
del pulverizador, la conexión a tierra brinda a la corriente
eléctrica una trayectoria de baja resistencia para alejar
la electricidad del usuario y reducir el riesgo de descarga

3. El pulverizador debe conectarse a un tomacorriente que
esté adecuadamente instalado y conectado a tierra y que
cumpla con todos los códigos y ordenanzas. El enchufe y el

¡PELIGRO DE INYECCIÓN!
Si bien este pulverizador de pintura no
utiliza aire, dispara pintura a muy alta
presión. Si se hace un uso inadecuado,
la pintura podría inyectarse a través de
la piel de una persona, lo cual ocasionaría
una lesión grave y resultar en una potencial amputación.
Si la pintura es accidentalmente inyectada en la piel
de una persona, póngase en contacto con un médico
inmediatamente. No trate una lesión por inyección
como trataría una simple cortadura. La inyección
de pintura podría llevar a la amputación, y requiere
tratamiento quirúrgico inmediato.
2. No apunte el pulverizador hacia nadie, incluido
usted mismo. No coloque la mano delante de la
boquilla de la pistola pulverizadora ni intente desviar
la pintura pulverizada con la mano durante el uso.
Los guantes y la ropa no ofrecen protección adecuada

explosión. Ejemplos de solventes para limpieza aceptables
son el agua, los alcoholes minerales y disolvente para
lacas. Tenga en cuenta que algunos de esos solventes
pueden ser inadecuados para ciertas clases de pintura;

1. Seguridad en el área de trabajo
a. Mantenga el área de trabajo limpia y bien
iluminada. Las áreas oscuras o abarrotadas
propician accidentes.
b. Utilice el equipo únicamente en áreas bien
ventiladas. La inhalación de diluyentes para
pinturas y de solventes pueden ser perjudicial.
c. No opere el pulverizador en ambientes
explosivos, como por ejemplo aquellos donde
pueda haber líquidos inflamables, gases o polvo.
El pulverizador es capaz de producir chispas,
lo cual generará la ignición del polvo o los vapores.
d. Mantenga alejados a los niños y a los
circunstantes mientras opere el pulverizador.
Las distracciones pueden hacer que pierda el control.
2. Seguridad eléctrica
a. Los enchufes del pulverizador deben ser
compatibles con el tomacorriente. Nunca
modifique el enchufe de ninguna forma.
No utilice enchufes adaptadores con pulverizadores
que tengan conexión a tierra. Los enchufes no
modificados y los tomacorrientes compatibles con
ellos reducen el riesgo de descarga eléctrica.
b. Evite el contacto corporal con superficies
conectadas a tierra como tuberías, radiadores,
cocinas y refrigeradores. Si su cuerpo está
conectado a tierra, el riesgo de sufrir una descarga
eléctrica es mayor.
c. No exponga a los pulverizadores a la lluvia o
la humedad. De ingresar agua a un pulverizador,
aumentaría el riesgo de descarga eléctrica.
d. No fuerce el cable. Nunca tire del cable
para trasladar, arrastrar o desenchufar el
pulverizador. Mantenga el cable alejado del
calor, el aceite, los bordes puntiagudos o las
piezas móviles. Los cables dañados o enredados
aumentan el riesgo de sufrir una descarga eléctrica.
e. Cuando utilice un pulverizador en exteriores,
utilice un cable de extensión adecuado para uso
en exteriores. Utilizar un cable adecuado para uso
en exteriores reduce el riesgo de descarga eléctrica.
f. Si resulta inevitable tener que utilizar un
pulverizador en un lugar húmedo, utilice
un insumo protegido por un interruptor de
circuito por falla a tierra (GFCI). Utilizar un
GFCI reduce el riesgo de descarga eléctrica.

3. Seguridad personal
a. Manténgase alerta. Preste atención a lo que está
haciendo y utilice el sentido común al operar
el pulverizador. Cuando esté cansado o bajo la
influencia de drogas, alcohol o medicamentos,
no utilice el pulverizador. Un momento de
distracción mientras opera el pulverizador
aumenta el riesgo de lesiones personales.
b. Utilice prendas adecuadas. No utilice prendas
sueltas ni alhajas. Átese el cabello largo.
Mantenga el cabello, la ropa y los guantes
lejos de las piezas móviles. Las ropas holgadas,
las joyas o el cabello largo aumentan el riesgo
de lesiones personales como consecuencia
de quedar atrapados en las piezas móviles.
c. Evite el arranque accidental. Asegúrese de que
el gatillo esté desactivado antes de conectar el
suministro eléctrico. No transporte el pulverizador
con el dedo en el gatillo ni conecte la herramienta
al suministro eléctrico con el gatillo activado.
d. No se extienda demasiado. Mantenga una
postura firme y buen equilibrio en todo
momento. Un buen apoyo y equilibrio permiten
controlar mejor el pulverizador en situaciones
inesperadas.
e.

Utilice equipo de seguridad. Cuando
pinte o cebe, limpie o realice tareas de
mantenimiento al pulverizador, utilice
gafas de seguridad aprobadas por el
ANSI, máscara para polvo/respirador
aprobado por NIOSH, guantes de
trabajo de alta resistencia y calzado
de seguridad antideslizante.

4. Uso y cuidado del pulverizador
a. No fuerce el pulverizador. Utilice el pulverizador
correcto para la aplicación. El pulverizador
correcto hará el trabajo mejor y más seguro,
y a la velocidad para la cual fue diseñado.
b. No utilice el pulverizador si el interruptor no
lo enciende ni apaga. Cualquier pulverizador que
no pueda controlarse mediante el interruptor es
peligroso y debe repararse.
c. Desconecte el enchufe de la fuente de
alimentación antes de realizar ajustes,
cambiar accesorios o guardar el pulverizador.
Estas medidas de seguridad preventivas reducen el
riesgo de arrancar el pulverizador accidentalmente.
d. Cuando no lo utilice, guarde el pulverizador
fuera del alcance de los niños y no permita
que personas que no conocen el pulverizador o
estas instrucciones lo utilicen. Los pulverizadores
son peligrosos en manos de usuarios inexpertos.
e. Realice tareas de mantenimiento al pulverizador.
Verifique que no haya piezas móviles desalineadas
o empastadas, piezas rotas o cualquier otra
condición que pueda afectar el funcionamiento
