Important Safety Information Read all instructions. Failure to follow all instructions may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury. Installation Precautions 1. Install only according to these instructions. Improper installation can create hazards. 2. Wear ANSI-approved safety goggles and heavy-duty work gloves during Installation. 3. Keep installation area clean and well lit. 4. Keep bystanders out of the area during Installation. 5. Do not install when tired or when under the influence of drugs or medication. 6. Read all instructions and safety precautions in the vehicle’s manual onto which the Wiring Connection Kit will be installed. 7. Install on negative ground 12 VDC systems only. 8. Do not install this product yourself unless you are technically competent to do so. If necessary, have a qualified technician install the Wiring Connection Kit. 9. Use the correct lights and electrical set‑up for your trailer. If the trailer is OVER 80" wide, install three additional Red Marker Lights (not included) onto the rear of the unit and connect using the Red wire. If not using the Red wire, coil and attach securely to trailer frame. 10. If the towing vehicle has rear turn signals separated from its stop lights, additional hardware and installation procedures will be needed. Contact a qualified technician for guidance. Use Precautions 1. This product is not a toy. Do not allow children to play with this item. 2. Use as intended only. Not for marine use. Do not submerge. 3. Inspect before every use; do not use if parts are loose or damaged. 4. Maintain product labels and nameplates. These carry important safety information. If unreadable or missing, contact Harbor Freight Tools for a replacement. Installation Instructions Risk of serious personal injury. Turn the vehicle off before assembling or making any changes to the Wiring Connection Kit. Wiring Diagram Use Splice Connectors to attach the Yellow, Green and Brown wires of the short trunk connector to the towing vehicle’s wiring. a. Connect Brown wire to the towing vehicle’s tail light wiring. b. Connect Yellow wire to the vehicle’s left brake and turn light. C C Connect Green wire to Vehicle R.H. Brake and Turn Connect White wire to Vehicle Frame Strip the end of the White ground wire and attach it to the metal part of the towing vehicle’s frame. C C Connect Brown wire to Vehicle Running Lights c. Connect Green wire to the vehicle’s right brake and turn light. 2. Connect Yellow wire to Vehicle L.H. Brake and Turn Trailer Ground Point Splice Connector Green Wire Yellow Wire Brown Wire C White Wire 3. Marker Light Marker Light C Before each use, inspect the general condition of the Wiring Connection Kit. Check for: • misaligned, cracked or broken parts • damaged electrical wiring C • any other condition that may affect its safe operation.
