What is AP?
AP stands for Advanced Placement. This
course may count as college credit if you
score a 3 or above on the AP exam. APES
looks at the earth’s natural systems, the
human population, and how those two
interact, as well as ways we can improve
on that interaction in order to create a
more sustainable relationship.
Student Responsibilities:
1. Have universal respect
2. Be punctual
3. Be a Raider, not a hater. (Treat
others like you’d like to be
treated.)
4. Be better than yesterday
Consequences:
Note: I reserve the right to escalate these
consequences should it fit the infraction.

4. Office Referral
Personal Supplies: How you keep up
with this class is up to you. You will,
however, need to go pick up a textbook
ASAP, as we use those often.
Class Supplies: Please bring tissues! All
other donations (colored pencils, markers,
pencils, glue, etc) will be gladly accepted,
but are not required. ☺

Grading Policies:
-MAJOR GRADES: 50% (retake for 70)
-MINOR GRADES: 40% (retake for 70)
-DAILY GRADES: 10% (no retakes)
Lab Safety
It is your responsibility to know and follow
lab safety rules at all times. Horseplay,
performing unauthorized experiments,
and other unsafe behavior cannot be
tolerated. Please remember to refer to
the safety contract in this packet often.
AP Testing Info
As this class has not yet undergone an
update from College Board in some time
and our textbooks are about a decade old,
I STRONGLY encourage you to purchase a
test prep manual. Biozone is a good one
with lots of visuals, and as 5 Steps to a 5
has fantastic summaries of the concepts.
