Outdoor skills are critical to the success of the Scouting program.
Training in outdoor skills is required before taking scouts on outings.

Time: Registration: 8:00AM Course: 8:30AM – 4:00PM
Cost: $15
BALOO - Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation for Cub Scout leaders is a one-day training event
that introduces participants to the skills needed to plan and conduct Pack outdoor activities, particularly
pack camping. This training is required for any adult who is in charge of planning a pack campout, and it
is required that at least one adult per pack complete BALOO training in order to submit a tour plan for a
Pack camping trip. BALOO training is offered twice a year by the PA Dutch Council’s Training Team.
Those taking the course should bring their Cub Scout Leader Book, notebook, and a pen/pencil.
Dress for the weather; some of the course will be outside.
Course opening ceremony is at 8:30 am. Course runs to 4:00 pm. Lunch is provided.
Participants are encouraged to bring a COPY of Parts A&B of a BSA Medical Form with them.
You will have fun, learn about resources, gain confidence, and become a better leader.
By completing this registration form, you are registering for the 1-Day BALOO session ONLY.
If you intend to complete the “Outdoor Webelos Leader” (OWL) or “Introduction to Outdoor
Leadership Skills” (IOLS) course(s), which are required for Webelos Leaders and Boy Scout Leaders,
you MUST submit another registration form specific to those trainings.
The course director will share additional information with you shortly before the course - probably by
email. If you have not heard from that person by the Wednesday before the course, please contact them.
