Nos. 9590 and PT18M) and 1, 2, 4 , 8, and 12 hours in the hour timer (Cat. Nos. 9591 and PT18H) • Automatically turns off lights/fans after preset time • LED indicates preset time selected and count down • An LED indicates when the timer is about to turn off • Dimmed LED to act as a locator in the dark • Easy programming mode with 1 minute increments • Bypass mode that allows the timer to stay on permanently. (ASPIRE Model Shown) Button 1 Button 2 Button 3 Button 6 Button 4 Button 5 OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS • To turn on the load press any of buttons 1 through 5. • Load will turn off either by pressing button 6 or after the selected time delay • While the load is on, if any of buttons 1 – 5 are pressed, the timer resets to the selected time • The LED will be updated as the timer counts down and indicates the approximate time remaining. • The LED on button 6 will blink for one minute before the timer times out LED Indicators Timer Bypass Mode This mode is to allow the user to use the timer as a regular switch (no time out). To put the device in this mode, press and hold button 6 for 2 seconds until the LED on button 6 starts blinking and then release the button. The load will turn on and stay on until the user momentarily presses button 6 again to turn it off. Timer Programming Modes The timers come pre-programmed but can be customized to very specific durations. To re-program the timer, there are 2 methods - a quick mode that sets predefined values to the timer, and an advanced mode that allows the user to program each button separately. Quick Programming Mode : • Press and hold buttons 1 and 6 together for 5 seconds • The LEDs on buttons 1 and 6 will start to blink alternately • Release the buttons. • LED will start to scroll indicating that the device is in the programming mode • Press the desired set of values according to the choices shown below • The scrolling LEDs will stop and the selected button LED will temporarily blink to indicate that the device programming has been completed. Minute Timer (9590 & PT18M) Button 1 5, 10, 15, 30, 60 minutes (default) Button 2 5, 10, 20, 30, 60 minutes Button 3 5, 15, 30, 45, 60 minutes Button 4 1, 5, 10, 15, 30 minutes Button 5 1, 10, 15, 20, 30 minutes Hour Timer (9591 & PT18H) Button 1 1, 2, 4 , 8, 12 hours (default) Button 2 1, 3, 6, 9, 12 hours Button 3 2, 4, 8, 12, 24 hours Button 4 30m, 1, 2, 4, 8 hours Button 5 15m, 30m, 1, 2, 4 hours Advanced Programming Mode (Minute and Hour timers): • Press and hold buttons 5 and 6 together for 5 seconds • The LEDs on buttons 5 and 6 will start to blink alternately • Release the buttons • LED will start to scroll indicating that the device is in the programming mode • Press the button that will be programmed • LEDs will stop scrolling and the selected button will start to blink • The user will then press any combination of values corresponding to the table shown below that add up to the desired time delay: Button 1 1 minute Button 2 5 minutes Button 3 10 minutes Button 4 30 minutes Button 5 60 minutes Example: If the user wants to program a value of 17 minutes, press button 3 once, button 2 once and button 1 twice (10+5+1+1). • Press the button 6 to finish programming. The LED on button 6 will temporarily blink to indicate that programming has been completed. • The same process should be repeated for each button to be programmed. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS WARNING: • Turn OFF circuit breaker or remove fuse(s) and verify that power is off before wiring. • Never wire any electrical device with power turned on. Wiring the device with the power on may cause permanent damage to the device and void the warranty. • If you are unsure about any part of these instructions, or if the wiring does not match the descriptions given, you should call a qualified electrician. CAUTION: 1. Use only with 120V AC 60 Hz. 2. Must be installed and used in accordance with all applicable electrical codes. 3. If a bare copper or green ground connection is not available in the wallbox, contact a licensed electrician for installation. Do not install without proper ground connections. 4. Do not exceed maximum device ratings. 5. For use ONLY with permanently installed fixtures of these types: Incandescent/Halogen, Magnetic Low Voltage (MLV), Electronic Low Voltage (ELV), Fluorescent, Compact Fluorescent, LED 6. May also be used with motors up to 1/4 HP 7. To avoid overheating and possible damage to other equipment, do not use to control receptacles. 8. Use only #14 or #12 copper wire with these devices. Installing 5 Button Timer Refer to the wiring diagram and install the timer according to these directions. Wire the timer switch according to wiring diagram #1 using the wire nuts provided. 1. The timer black wire will connect to the hot wire (black) in the wallbox. 2. The timer red wire will connect to the wire which goes to the light fixture. 3. The timer green wire will connect to the ground wire in the wallbox. 4. Install the timer loosely using the mounting screws provided. 5. Apply power temporarily and verify that the timer works by pushing any of the 5 buttons to verify the load turns on. If the lights do not work then refer to troubleshooting guide. 6. Turn power OFF and go to COMPLETING THE INSTALLATION. HOT (BLACK) OUTPUT HOT BLACK RED (BLACK) Light Fixture GROUND (BARE) GREEN (WHITE/NEUTRAL) COMPLETING THE INSTALLATION: 1. Secure Timer into the wall box using two mounting screws provided. 2. The circuit breaker should now be turned on. 3. Allow the timer to stabilize for 5 seconds. The timer is now ready 4. Press one of the buttons (1 through 5). The load should turn ON and the corresponding LED should turn ON. Press the button 6 and the load should turn OFF. 5. Install the decorative wallplate. TROUBLESHOOTING: If you have a problem with your Timer, first follow this guide. If the problem persists, call the customer service hotline at 1-866-853-4293 between 8:00 A.M. and 6:00 P.M. EST weekdays. SYMPTOM POSSIBLE CAUSE SOLUTION Light does not turn on. 1. Circuit breaker or fuse is turned off. 1. Turn circuit breaker on. 2. Bulb is defective. 2. Replace light bulb. 3. Poor connection. 3. Verify all wiring connections. 4. Timer may be wired incorrectly. 4. Check wiring. Light does not automatically turn off. 1. The device is in Bypass mode. 1. Press button 6 to confirm that the timer can be turned OFF.
