THANK YOU for purchasing the Thomson Seatpost. The following
instructions should be read completely before installation. If you have any
questions regarding installation or service of this product, please contact your
local dealer. We recommend that a professional bicycle mechanic install and
service this product.

Do not attempt to install if you are not familiar with cutting and de-burring
cable housing and cable. Cable may need to be cut to length. Cable tension
must be set correctly for dropper post to function correctly. We strongly
recommend you have a professional bicycle mechanic install your Thomson
Dropper Post.

PLEASE NOTE:
The only piece of the assembly that could cause damage by being assembled
improperly is the spherical washer. The spherical seat in the washer must face
the spherical seat underneath the head of the bolt.
The Thomson Covert Dropper Post is easy to setup and use.

Warnings:
• Do not, under any circumstances,
open or attempt to service the internals of the Thomson Dropper.
Evidence of opening the post will
void warranty.

Tools Required

•

•
•
•

Allen Wrenches (4mm, 2.5mm, and 2mm )
Cable and Housing Cutter
Torque Wrench

Do not, under any circumstance,
attempt to shorten the Thomson
Dropper by any method. Cutting
will cause post to fail and can
lead to injury. Cutting post voids
warranty.

•

Do not exceed 45-inch
pounds/5Nm of torque on collar
bolt holding post in frame.

•

Remote housing must be able
to move freely. Do not zip tie to
frame too tightly. It is best to use
hydraulic brake line clips to attach
housing to frame.

2

Screw the Red Covert Actuator into the base of the post by
hand. Do not use tools to tighten.

Determine the housing length you need, trim if needed.
Pick a location for the cable tensioner and cut housing at
that point. You should now have a long piece of housing
and a relatively short piece of housing. This should only be
done using cable and housing cutters. Take care to remove
any burrs at the cut ends of the housing.

3

Run the cable through the long section of housing, the
tensioner and the short section of housing. Be sure to place
housing end caps on first.

4

Push housing and cable through frame toward the open
seat tube. Hook cable in in Red Covert Actuator at base of
post, push post and housing together into frame, set post
at desired ride height and tighten seatpost collar to no
more than 5Nm.

5

Mount lever on bar and tighten snugly using 2.5mm Allen
wrench.

6

Run free end of cable through the tiny hole on the top of
the lever, it will come out underneath the lever. Pull cable
hand tight and using 2mm Allen wrench tighten set screw
on side of lever to hold cable in place.

7

Cut cable and push cut end into relief on left side of lever.
This is much less awkward than trying to install a cable
crimp.

8

Using tensioner tighten cable until lever just stops having
free movement.

9
10

Saddle should be installed using a torque wrench and a 6”
long 4mm Allen wrench. Both saddle clamping bolts should
be torqued evenly to 6Nm.

Go ride.

Care and Cleaning:
• Do not clean post with high-pressure spray.
• Clean by hand with soap and water, dry and apply silicone-based
spray to inner, moving portion
of post. Do not use citrus based
degreaser to clean post.

mounted remote lever cable.
• Do not store or operate outside

•

temperature range –13°F to
140°F (-25°C to 60°C)
Do not hang bike from saddle.

Fasteners in handlebar remote and cable fixing mechanism on post are very
small and can be easily lost during
installation. Do not work over carpet.
Work in a well-lighted space over a
rubber mat in case you drop fasteners.
