Uniforms and rank patches stay the same, except for the new Tigers.
Webelos & Arrow of Light will continue to earn pins.
Method of program delivery & means for advancement predominantly from den/pack meetings and activities.

Program Changes (effective 6/1/15)
• One Oath, One Law -- all BSA organizations will use the Boy Scout Oath and Law.
• All new scouts, beginning June 1, 2015 must earn their Bobcat Badge using the Scout Oath & Law.
• The Academics and Sports program to be retired - activities are now incorporated within each Adventure.
• Terms "Achievements and Activity Badges" are now replaced by Adventures, implies being more active.
• "Ethan" - Ethan is a Cub Scout who will guide Scouts through each rank in the new Cub Scout program. He’ll
appear in each adventure in their new handbooks, and he will always be a year older and one rank ahead of the
Scouts
• Instead of Character Connections, they have a "Character Compass" used to illustrate how one of the Boy Scout
character traits applies to a particular adventure.
• "Homework" is now called "Home Assignment" - samples included and can be photocopied.
• Each rank has a required Duty to God Adventure - activity is age appropriate and family-based.
• Immediate Recognition - "Adventure Loops," no beads or arrow points, for Tigers, Wolves & Bears.
• Advancement reports are not needed to purchase adventure loops, however, you must still provide advancement
report for rank badges.
• Webelos and Arrow of Light ranks earn - "Adventure Pins" instead of activity pins or badges.
• It is no longer necessary to earn the Webelos rank before earning the Arrow Of Light rank.
• Transition guidelines for scouts who have earned the Webelos rank by 6/1/15, see the reverse side of page.
• In addition to the 7 Adventures, each rank must complete Child Abuse exercises & earn the Cyber Chip Award.

Tigers (no longer Tiger Cubs): 6 req'd adventures + choice of 1 elective (from 13 ), orange-edged
adventure loops
Wolf:
6 req'd adventures + choice of 1 elective (from 13 ), red-edged loops
Bear:

6 req'd adventures + choice of 1 elective (from 13 ), blue-edged loops

Webelos: 5 req'd adventures and 2 electives from 18 options shared with AOL,
adventure pins diamond-shaped with green borders
Arrow of Light: 4 req'd adventures and 3 electives from the same 18 shared with
Webelos, pins are arrow-shaped with brown borders.
*All elective adventure loops or pins are monochromatic- coinciding with rank colors, except for Webelos & AOL. All
of their elective pins are oval-shaped and brown, see images online.

CUB SCOUT LEADERS
• Leader Guides are more "user friendly," providing you with an outline, resources and sample activities.
• Each Adventure is designed to take approximately 3 meetings to complete. Remember Duty to God is familybased. Most of this Adventure is completed with the scout's family.
• "Seven" is the magic number- seven Adventures for all ranks, less confusion going to subsequent ranks.
• Webelos rank earned as of June 1, 2015, two options:
OPTION 1
May continue to work out of the
current handbook and complete the
Arrow of Light requirements as stated.

OPTION 2
Begin using the new Webelos Handbook and the Webelos Den
Leader Guide for the Webelos adventures.
Must complete the four defined required adventures.

→ Either activity pins or adventure pins
may be used to satisfy elective
requirements.

To satisfy the requirement for three electives, they may utilize
EITHER the new adventure electives OR activity badges earned
under the current program but NOT USED TO FULFILL WEBELOS
RANK REQUIREMENTS.
