About DC One Fund
The DC One Fund Drive is the District government’s
only ofcial philanthropic fundraiser.
DC government employees pledge their support
annually to nonprofit organizations in the
Washington metropolitan area.
The District government has authorized the United Way of the
National Capital Area and the United Black Fund, Inc. to serve as campaign
administrators of the 60th One Fund Drive. The District of Columbia will
continue to have fiscal responsibility and policy management
for the One Fund Drive.
The One Fund lists more than 800 nonprofit organizations that will benefit from
your generosity in this year’s drive. Many employees find that spreading their
gifts over the year through payroll deduction makes it easier to support the
DC One Fund. Gifts to the One Fund can also be made by payroll deductions,
cash and/or check, via paper pledge form, or by visiting dconefund.org.
Regardless of the payment method you select, your generous contribution helps
to make the greater Washington community a better place for all.
DC ONE FUND “EACH ONE, GIVE ONE.” 1
The District of Columbia
Government is joining forces with
United Black Fund, the United
Way of the National Capital Area
and Local Independent Charities
to help make our community a
better, safer, and healthier place
to live, work, and do business.
We will launch our annual “DC One Fund” campaign in mid-
October 2014. This year, I am expecting even more from our
committed government workers. I have raised the bar and
set the 2014 campaign goal at $1,125,000. I am confident
that we can reach or even exceed that goal, making this
year’s campaign one of the most successful ever. To meet
our goal, we are asking for your support of a worthy cause
by contributing to the DC One Fund through biweekly
payroll deductions.
We’ve all felt the impact of these tough economic times.
Our local nonprofit organizations have been impacted as
well—and they need our support more than ever. With your
generous contributions, these organizations will be able to
continue in their efforts to offer health and human services
to District residents and other persons throughout the
region. We ask that you sincerely consider giving a little to
help those people in our community who have little more
than hope. When we help our neighbors, we help ourselves
and we enhance our community.
A DC One Fund Agency Coordinator will be contacting you
to discuss the details of this year’s campaign. Also, feel free
to get started today by visiting the DC One Fund pledging
website, dconefund.org OR the DC One Fund informational
website, onefund.dc.gov.
Thank you in advance for your consideration and support.
We look forward to seeing you at the DC One Fund
Campaign Kick-Off Event in October and agency fairs
throughout the campaign which concludes in December.
Sincerely,
Message from the Mayor and
DC One Fund Chairman
Thomas Faust
Director, Department of
Corrections,

Why should I donate through DC One
Fund?
The DC One Fund is a convenient tool for you to make a
donation to the nonprofit of your choice through payroll
deductions. If you itemize deductions on your taxes, this is a
simple way to track your donations. Also, please remember
that every donation of any dollar amount makes an impact in
our community.
When does the One Fund campaign end?
Campaign will close on December 15, 2014 at 11:59 PM.
How do I find my agency’s coordinator?
Go to onefund.dc.gov and click on “DC One Fund
Organizational Chart with Agency Coordinators (PDF),” which
is located at the bottom of the homepage. The second option
is to send an email to dconefund@dc.gov with your agency’s
name and we will respond to you with the name, email, and
phone number of your agency’s coordinator.
My nonprofit is not a member of United
Way or United Black Fund, how do I get
my nonprofit on the list of DC One Fund
charities?
If your organization resides in the District of Columbia,
you can participate in the 2015 campaign by obtaining an
application for independent organizations at onefund.dc.gov.
Your organization must reside in the District of Columbia to
participate. You may also contact United Way of the National
Capital Area or the United Black Fund to discuss additional
membership options.
Can I do a one-time donation?
Yes, you can. Go to dconefund.org and click the “pledge
now” button, login, and then you may donate using the one-
time payroll deduction option or the credit card option.
Can I give $25 or less to my favorite
charity?
United Way of the National Capital Area, which is the lead
administrator of the DC One Fund drive, will not send
donations of $25 or less to an individual nonprofit. If an
employee wants to designate funds to his or her nonprofit
of choice, the total annual contribution must be at least
$26. Donations of $25 or less will be treated as undesignated
contributions.
Can I change the amount of money
allocated or the nonprofit to which my
donations are allocated?
Yes. You will need to email Brandi Lester at
blester@uwnca.org OR call the United Way NCA Helpdesk at
(866) 583-8742.
If my username and password for
dconefund.org is not working, how do I
fix it?
Please contact your Agency Coordinator OR email
dconefund@dc.gov OR call the United Way NCA Helpdesk at
(866) 583-8742. This information is located directly above the
Login username and password section on the dconefund.org
website.

About United Black Fund
The United Black Fund works citywide to get rid of weapons of
destruction, and to change the thinking of people who use them. We
work with domestic violence activists to create safe havens and to bring
services into troubled homes and troubled relationships. We work
with the leaders of the returning citizens movement to help those
who paid their debt to society find their place as productive and
positive citizens.
We help agencies working in communities where poverty is
intense, and in neighborhoods where our kids too often live
without responsible adult guidance and adult
sponsored activities.
