Graphic Arts Merit
Badge Workshop

You are invited to what could be a once-in-a-lifetime chance to earn the Graphic Arts merit
badge using 100-year-old printing presses. The requirements for the merit badge will be met
using the 600-year-old letterpress printing process. With minimal advanced preparations,
you will be able to leave at the end of the night with the merit badge complete.
The workshop will begin promptly at 6:00 pm in the Graphic Communications Lab
located in the Clark Street Branch Building of Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, 60
Parkside Avenue, Lancaster, PA. Directions to the college and a campus map can be found

You need to review the requirements for this merit badge. The
requirements are available through the purchase of the pamphlet at the
Scout Shop, 630 Janet Avenue, Lancaster, or download the workbook/
requirements at www.918club.org/events.
You will need to complete requirements #2, #5b and #7 before
the workshop in order to complete the merit badge that evening. For
#5b requirement, bring with you a sample of the five types of binding
with each one marked with the binding type and your name & troop
number on a post-it note. For requirement #7, type the information
called for in exploring career opportunities in the graphic arts. You
will need to come with a completed merit badge form signed by your Scoutmaster.
This workshop fills up fast so register as soon as possible by contacting Ken
Kulakowsky at kkulakowsky@netzero.com to reserve your spot. Go to www.918club.org/
events and download the registration form. Fill out the form and send it and a check for $10
to the address on the form. The $10 covers all materials necessary to complete the badge, a
t-shirt, your printed memo pads and postage for the return of your printed project & merit
badge card. The workshop is being sponsored by the Lancaster .918 Club and Thaddeus
Stevens College of Technology Graphic Communications Department.
