Instructions for Assignment 1: Assignment: This programming assignment meets the course objectives of knowledge acquisition and design of solutions by requiring the development of programs that demonstrate understanding of the topics and concepts in operating systems. In this programming assignment students will be required to implement scheduling algorithms and compare their performance. In this assessment emphasis will be given in providing correctness of programs following the algorithmic procedures which were delivered in lectures and are in the textbook. Weighting: 10% Submission Deadline: 01/09/2017 23:59 Submission Procedure: Via Blackboard Submission Instructions: The assignment must be done and submitted individually. Check the deliverable for the assignment and strictly follow the file/folder naming conventions. Assignment Cover Sheets (ACSs) has been made available. A completed and signed ACS must accompany all assignment submissions. Since the assignment submission is electronic (via Blackboard) it should also be electronically signed. NOTE: Assignment should be submitted as a single ZIP folder containing everything (including ACS). Submission of multiple files (each containing a part of the assignment) is not acceptable. Marks distribution: Can (Assign1Feedback2240.pdf). be found in the assignment feedback document Marks announcement: The marks will be available in Blackboard. If you have any questions about the marking, discuss it with your demonstrator and if necessary with the course coordinator. Returnable: The assignment is returnable, however, only feedback is returned. It is strongly recommended that students keep a copy of any material submitted. Plagiarism: The assignment (code and report) will be checked for plagiarism; therefore, students are advised to maintain the academic integrity strictly. Penalty for late submission: The mark for an assessment item submitted after the designated time on the due date, without an approved extension of time, will be reduced by 10% of the possible maximum mark for that assessment item for each day or part day that the assessment item is late. Note: this applies equally to week and weekend days. Application for Adverse Circumstances Applications for adverse circumstances are to be submitted via the electronic system for all assessment items. Discussion Board A dedicated discussion board for this assignment is created in the blackboard. Students are encouraged to make use of the board for any discussion related to this assignment.
