2008 Basic Victim
Advocacy Training (VAT)
The 2008 Basic Victim Advocacy Training is
fast approaching. Just about two weeks until it
begins. So far we have 47 advocates from CASAs,
Sexual Assault programs, District Attorney’s O ces,
Survivors of Homicide and Domestic Violence
agencies registered. It’s a good mix of people and
discussions are sure to be interesting. At the end of
this training, graduates are able to apply for the Basic
Victim Advocacy Certi cation thru NOVA (National
Organization for Victim Assistance).
ere is still space available if anyone is interested in
attending this training. e next Basic VAT will not
take place until 2010 so take advantage of it now. Go
to the CVRC home page, click on VAT Information
and it will take you to a page with a registration link
and information about the text and chapter questions.
e registration cost is $350 that includes lodging,
meals and classroom materials (except the text). Its
a bargain and provides you with an opportunity to
be among your peers, take a needed break from your
work schedule, increase your knowledge and get
support for the very hard work you do.

New Employee Spotlights
New Employee Spotlights
My name is Tammi Lambert, and it is with excitement and anticipation that I begin
working here at CVRC. I am an enrolled member of the Jicarilla Apache Tribe, of
the Ollero clan, the Mountain People. I am an oil painter, a voracious reader, and a mom
of two soccer playing kids: Imani, who is 14, and Olivia, who is allegedly 6. Originally
from Los Angeles, I came to New Mexico over 15 years ago to be closer to my Native
roots and to nish school. Since receiving my bachelors degree and my Juris Doctorate
from UNM, I have been practicing as an attorney for nine years in the areas of domestic
violence and crime victim rights. For the past four and a half years I worked as a policy
advisor in the Governor’s O ce, and had the honor of being able to initiate and lobby
several vital victim rights laws into the statute books. I see my tenure at CVRC as my
next step forward, and I am excited to be a part of the CVRC team.
I can be reached at 505-841-9432 or by e-mail at Tammi.Lambert@state.nm.us
Im Margie Lang, formerly from the Governor’s O ce of Victim Advocacy. I have
been selected for the position of Grants Program Specialist and will work with Robin
(VOCA) and Sheila (VAWA) to provide programmatic and administrative support with
the VOCA and VAWA grant programs. I am grateful for the opportunity to work with such
a professional team. During my tenure with GOVA, I provided oversight and advocacy to
crime victims, coordinated public awareness and education programs, and participated in
coordinated community response teams, as well as many other activities regarding crime
victim rights issues. I was born and raised in Ohio, but have lived in New Mexico for 33
years. Im married to the man of my dreams, and between us we have 3 adult children,
2 granddaughters, 2 cats and plenty of social activities for entertainment. I love travel,
photography, gardening, hiking, biking, museums, beaches/oceans, and activities involving
family and friends. I look forward to working with people statewide who are dedicated in
helping crime victims and families.
I can be reached at 505-841-9432 or by e-mail at Margie.Lang@state.nm.us

so welcome. ank you all. I just moved back here to Albuquerque in late March from Las
Vegas, Nevada a er being there for almost two years. Before that, I was a probation o cer
in Sandoval County and worked there for 5 years. Most of my adulthood has been spent in
Europe where I lived from 1982-2001. Europe is my second home but it was time for me
to come back home. Im married to Keith and we have four daughters and 4 grandchildren
(three grandsons and one granddaughter.) You can just imagine the chaos that lls our
home during the holidays. We love it though. Im looking forward to working with all of
