Instructions to be followed while using multimeter
1. Set the range and parameter first and then connect the Multimeter for
measurements
2. Do not change the setting of the multimeter when the probe is connected to
the circuit. Remove the probe, change the setting and then reconnect to make
measurements
3. Do not measure resistance value in-circuit when the circuit is switched on.
Switch off the power to the circuit and then measure the resistance.
4. Do not measure voltage when the multimeter is set to measure current. It will
damage the multimeter.
5. Some models of multimeter have a separate terminal to measure current. Insert
the probe in that jack to measure current. Do not forget to put back the probe
in the original terminal to measure voltage. Leaving the probe in the current
terminal is one of the main reasons for 'blown' multimeters.
5. Do not measure voltage when the multimeter is set to measure resistance.
6. If the multimeter shows a LOW BATTERY indication, change the multimeter ( or
the battery).
7. Use correct probe convensions while inserting in the jacks of the multimeter.
Red is positive or live. Black is ground or common.
