THE OTOVENT® METHOD Ask your Doctor about Otovent, and stop the discomfort of ear pain. The Otovent® Auto Inflation system offers otitis media with effusion (OME or glue ear) patients a proven first-line treatment option in relieving ear pain and pressure. It is a nonsurgical, drug free treatment and has been recommended by ENT specialists for over 20 years. The patient inflates a small balloon using their nose and at the same time the pressure equalizes and relieves the symptoms in the middle ear. Blowing up the balloon helps to open up the Eustachian tube, making it easier for fluid to drain from the middle ear. Providing successful relief of ear pain for more than 20 years, Otovent® is a highly effective, yet inexpensive, alternative to surgery and drug therapies. It is natural, painless, and takes only a matter of seconds to perform. IT’S SIMPLE. If the Eustachian tube becomes blocked – usually due to a common cold or allergies – the middle ear will fill with fluid rather than air, pulling the eardrum inward. After a while this fluid can become thick and glue like. This condition is known as Glue ear or Otitis Media with Effusion (OME). With glue ear your child will not be able to hear properly and it may be painful due to negative pressure. Glue ear is very common, as many as 8 out of 10 children will experience it at least once before they are 10 years old. The soothing effects of Otovent® provide pain relief while making it fun for children. The Otovent® procedure can be performed anytime, anywhere. This painless treatment takes only a matter of seconds to complete: 2. Inhale deeply, close the mouth and inflate the balloon by blowing through the nostril until it is the size of a grapefruit. You will know the treatment works if there is a pressure change with or without a “click” in the ear. In a healthy ear, the pressure is equalized by swallowing or yawning. However, when these actions do not help, a negative pressure will build up in the middle ear. If left untreated the child can develop glue ear. Glue ear can cause hearing loss and be very painful for the child, leaving the doctor few alternatives as to how to treat the associated pain. Otovent® provides natural, gentle, and effective relief of pain and pressure associated with chronic fluid due to middle ear infections. Because of its natural action and results, the Otovent® method is being recommended worldwide as an alternative to ventilation tube ear surgery. Otovent® may provide the only treatment your child needs to alleviate the symptoms of middle ear fluid. 1. Connect the balloon to the nose piece. Hold the round part of the nose piece firmly against the right nostril with one hand. Press the left nostril closed with the left hand. 3. Repeat the procedure with the other nostril. HOW DOES OTOVENT® RELIEVE THE PAIN? By inflating the balloon 2 to 3 times daily, symptoms are relieved quickly and effectively anytime, anywhere with the included travel case. Otovent® opens and ventilates the eustachian tube using positive air pressure (auto-inflation). This action allows the fluid that has collected in the middle ear to drain down the back of the throat. The auto-inflation relieves the pain until the body can naturally fight off the infection. Children and adults get back to normal day to day activities faster without extreme medical intervention or recovery time. Scan the QR code with your phone to view our instruction video.
