PLEASE READ THIS IMPORTANT INFORMATION
1.

RESERVATIONS: Contact the Council Service Center to check availability. Reservations may be made beginning June 1 of each year.
Facilities are reserved on the basis of the date on the completed application and full fees being received at the Council Service Center.
Tentative reservations (those phoned or e-mailed) will be held for no longer than 10 days, pending receipt of the application and full
payment. If the application and fees are not received within 10 days, the site reservation will be cancelled without further
notice.

2.

REFUNDS / CANCELLATIONS: There will be no refund for cancellations for no-shows. Reservations may be changed up to two weeks
prior to arrival provided the requested facility is available. If it becomes necessary to close a facility due to inclement weather or other
emergency, you will be notified and be given the opportunity to reschedule. Do not assume that the camp will be closed- contact the PA
Dutch Council Service Center at (717) 394-4063, Camp Bashore (717) 865-4583, or Camp Mack (717) 626-8711 if in doubt.

3.

LEADERSHIP STANDARDS: Two-Deep Leadership is required for all trips and outings. The primary leader in charge must be at least 21
years of age. Leaders responsible for the group must have current Youth Protection Training, and be registered members of the BSA. TwoDeep leadership must be maintained at all times during the outing. Separate facilities are required for females participating in an overnight
activity.

4.

CUB SCOUT & WEBELOS CAMPING: Cub Scout Packs MUST adhere to the PA Dutch Council Cub Scout Camping Policies available at
padutchbsa.org/documents. Adults giving leadership to a Pack overnighter MUST show proof (training certificate) of completion of Basic
Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) training. For Webelos outings, the adult in charge must have completed Webelos Leader Outdoor
Training. All Cub Scout and Webelos weekend camping activities should occur as parent/son activities with an adult/youth ratio of 1:1. Units
who fail to meet these requirements will not be permitted to stay in camp, forfeiting all fees.

5.

CHECK-IN & CHECK-OUT PROCEDURES: All units / groups must check in with the Campmaster or Ranger upon arrival in order to get
up to date information relevant to your stay. You will be asked to present a copy of this permit, a roster of participants, and if an approved
Tour Plan. IMPORTANT: Units without these documents will not be permitted to stay in camp. You will also be asked to present
copies of any training credentials such as NRA, BALOO, WLOT, BSA GUARD, SAFE SWIM, SAFETY AFLOAT, etc… depending on
circumstances of your outing. Arrangements for checkout and site inspection can also be made during check-in.

6.

BUILDING CAPACITIES: are set by the local Board of Health and/or Fire Marshall and are not to be exceeded under any circumstances.
Units that exceed the listed building capacity must tent overflow campers outside, or rent additional facilities. Smoke and Carbon Monoxide
detectors are installed for your safety. It is both illegal and extremely dangerous to tamper with or disable them. Violators may lose
camping privileges- please tell Camp Ranger or Campmaster if you have a malfunctioning alarm.

7.

EMERGENCIES / INJURIES / SERIOUS INCIDENTS: All must be reported to the Ranger or Campmaster as soon as possible. Provide
as much detail as possible.

8.

VEHICLES & PARKING: ALL vehicles must be returned to the parking lot or designated area for the duration of the outing after unloading
gear at cabin or campsite. Please notify Campmaster or Ranger if there is a special reason that an exception should be made. (i.e.
disabilities, injuries, illness, etc.) Passengers are NOT allowed to ride in the back of pick-up trucks or trailers under any circumstances. All
vehicles must be covered by current public liability and property damage insurance. Improperly parked vehicles may be towed at owner’s
expense

9.

PROHIBITED ITEMS: Weapons of any kind (slingshots, firearms, paintball guns, crossbows, etc.), Fireworks, Alcoholic Beverages, Illegal
Drugs (controlled substances), Motorized ATV's (snowmobiles, 4-wheelers, dirt bikes, etc.) and Electric, Kerosene or Gas heaters. Violation
of this policy may result in confiscation of item(s), eviction from camp property, and legal prosecution if applicable. No pets are permitted in
PA Dutch Council Camps, with the exception of those belonging to permanent residents (Camp Rangers) and those persons requiring a
service animal. Owners are responsible for any damage or injuries caused by their pets.

10. WATER & BATHROOM FACILITIES: The shower house facilities in camp are seasonal. If your group makes use of them, please help to
keep them clean, and notify Campmaster or Ranger of any problems. We have several locations throughout camp with frost-free hydrants.
Check with Campmaster or Ranger for the most convenient location to get water for your site.
11. TRASH & LITTER: Please leave your campsite/cabin cleaner than you found it. Before check-out, police the entire area for trash or litter.
Place ALL trash bags in dumpster. *** PROPANE CYLINDERS *** PLEASE put next to dumpster in recycle bin- the Ranger will properly
dispose of these. Pack out any dead batteries- (flashlight, radios etc…)
12. CAMPFIRES / FIREWOOD: Campfires may be built in any established fire ring or fireplace. Do not move fire rings or build new ones
without permission of Campmaster or Camp Ranger. Do not bring in outside firewood. Firewood is provided at the lodges and is to be used
in lodge woodstoves only. All units reserving cabins are required to leave a $50 firewood deposit per building rented with the
Campmaster or Camp Ranger. Deposits will be returned upon check-out after verification that an equal amount of firewood used by the
group during the weekend has been replenished. There is an ample supply of firewood in the surrounding woods. Any fallen timber may be
cut up and utilized as needed. Any group that cuts down or damages live or standing timber will be held financially responsible. There is
also a supply of wood available to refill the firewood boxes through coordination with the Camp Ranger. The use of chainsaws is restricted
to operators who are at least 18 years old and have successfully completed the BSA Chainsaw Safety Training Class and are pre-approved
by the Camp Ranger. Please observe fire safety rules at all times – never leave fires unattended. Certain weather conditions (high winds or
drought) may prohibit or limit fires in camp; you will be notified by the Campmaster or Camp Ranger if such conditions exist.
13. COPE/Climbing/Shooting/BMX: These activities require separate reservation forms and agreements. Complete reservation forms for
these activities must be received no less than two months prior to the desired activity date.
Camp Bashore and Camp Mack each may have specific policies and procedures that apply to those facilities found there.
Your Campmaster or Camp Ranger will provide a copy at time of check-in.
