Generating Beats from Sample Slices:
Click on a sample in the instrument list,
then, click on the “Sampler” tab on the top bar.

Click on the “Slice” button,
then click on the sample in two place two (or more) slice markers.

Make sure this button is not pressed.
It switches the view when each new slice
is added, which is annoying for our purposes

Now we need to use the tool to extract our beats.
Click on Tools > CSC499 > Beat Extract Tool to open the tool.

Click on “Build Executable” (Only necessary the first time,)
and then click on “Load Beats as Slices.”

You should now see that new slices have been added corresponding to each beat of the audio file.
You can edit these slices, or undo (ctrl z) to remove them and tweak your inputs.

Generating Automation from Beats.
Click on the “Slices To BPM Automation” button to transform these slices into an automation curve.

Click on the “Edit” tab to go back to the editor page.
Click on the Master Track on the far right of the pattern editor (you may need to scroll if there are a lot of tracks)
Click on the Automation Editor button.
Click on the BPM automation track.
You should see automation points added for each beat in the editor like below.
