ACCOMPLl SHMENT Thi s Service Bul l e t i n may be accompl ished as f o l lows: INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Refer t o Figure 1 and v i s u a l l y Inspect b o t h t h e LH and RH s t a b i l a t o r hinges, a t t h e fuselage a t t a c h p o i n t , f o r broken, loose o r working r i v e t s as f o l l o w s : a. Inspect f o r cracks i n p a i n t around t h e circumference o f a r i v e t head. b. Inspect f o r b l a c k d i s c o l o r a t i o n which appears as residue working o u t from beneath the r i v e t head. c. Inspect f o r any gap between t h e r l v e t head and a i r p l a n e skin. 2. I f none o f the above c o n d i t i o n s e x i s t and t h e LH and RH s t a b i l a t o r hinges appear t o be i n a normal and secure c o n f i g u r a t i o n , no f u r t h e r a c t i o n i s necessary a t t h i s time. 3. I f any r i v e t on e i t h e r t h e LH o r RH s t a b i l a t o r hinges i s found t o be working, a l l r l v e t s on both hinges nust be replaced w i t h P/N MS20470AD-5 o r -4 (as appropriate) r i v e t s o f the appropriate l e n g t h f o r m a t e r i a l thickness. Refer t o the Shop Manual and remove t h e s t a b i l a t o r . NOTE Replace t h e r i v e t s i n h o r i z o n t a l rows (one row a t a time) t o maintain s t a b i l a t o r hingelfuselage alignment. See i l l u s t r a t i o n . 5. I f an oversize fastener I s r e q u i r e d , enlarge the h o l e as r e q u i r e d t o accept a P/N CR2249-5 o r -4 (as a p r o p r i a t e ) Cherrylock r i v e t (NAS1738-5) o f t h e approp r i a t e l e n g t h f o r materia thickness. ! 6. I f r i v e t replacement has been accomplished, replace the e x i s t i n g screws, washe r s and n u t s on b o t h t h e LH and RH s t a b i l a t o r h i n es with new P/N AN525-10 screws, new P/N AN960-TO washers and new P/N AN365-10 2 nuts. S 7. Refer t o t h e Maintenance Manual and r e l n s t a l l the s t a b f i a t o r . 9. Reinspect the LH and RH s t a b i l a t o r hinges as described i n a, b and c above a t each 100 service hour i n t e r v a l (normal catagory) o r each 25 s e r v i c e hour i n t e r v a l (acrobatic catagory) u n t i 1 f u r t h e r n o t i c e .
