Left Wins: Repair compression damage to false Spar, PN 344A4G at station 190. Damage
consisted of : Distortion of the top and bottom spar flange. No buckling or cracks were found.
Other possible related damage was found at station # 85 , leading edge skin joint between the
first and second skins. The row of flush rivets, AN426AD4 in each skin were loose and pulled.
1. False spar as shown on Schweizer dwg. 34.10,1G, includes material list. Repair doubler drawing shown below-
2. Cold straightened affected area Per 43.13-18, Chap 4, Par. 58 H. ( Repair methods and
Precautions for aluminum structure.,, Straightening stringers or intermediate frames).
3. Installed locally fabricated Channel reinforcement (.05 2024-t3 ) from W.S. 185 to
W.S. 191, per AC 43.13-18, Chap 4, Par. 59,b.
4. Rivet size and spacing Per AC 43.13-18, Fig. 4-16, Cracked stressed skin and
AC 43.13-18 Table 4-9 and suggest by Schweizer drawing # 34404G dated
Aug. 27,2001. Reinforcement at spar rveb contains 12 ea. Equally spaced AN470AD4
Rivets each side of damage and 3 ea. AN426AD4 each side of damage in both upper
And lower flanges.
LEADING EDGE SKIN RIVET REPLACEMENT
1. For Access to the damaged rivet row; Installed standard Schweizer oval access cover and
doubler on underside of left wing,
Forrvard of front spar at W.S. 80 per Schrveizer Drawing 100403C dated June 25, 2001.
Doubler is .032" x 4" x 6" 20247-3 with .050 flanges. Patch is .032" x3" x4.5"
2024 T-3. Extra rivets used per NOTE #3. Patch is riveted in place with CM248-4 rivets.
1. AII rivet holes are dimpled to accept AN426 AD4 and CR2248-4 rivets per note #4
2. Replaced loose, double row, AN426AD4 rivets on outboard end of inboard L.E. skin and
the inboard end of the second leading edge skin at Station 85.
3. The repaired areas were preped for filler and painting.
Continued Ainvorthiness
Annual Visual inspection of the two repair areas to determine that the repairs are secure.
