Features
The APart SUB2201 subwoofer is designed to reproduce a smooth and punchy bass on a small footprint.
The 6th order bandpass cabinet produces a dry yet deep bass using only a single 10 inch long
stroke woofer.
This subwoofer is the ideal partner for APart MASK speakers in an active setup, with crossover
frequencies up to 150 Hz. The black version is equipped with a 35 mm metal adapter on top, allowing
stands for placing top cabinets.
In order to get the most satisfying sound, it is essential that you read this section carefully prior to
connecting the subwoofer to your system.

Unpacking
This speaker has been carefully packed at the factory. Open the carton box and remove the speaker from
the packing. Do not use sharp objects to open the box.
Place the speaker on a flat and stable surface.
When the product shows signs of damage caused by transportation, contact your dealer immediately.
Damage due to transport and rough handling is not covered by the manufacturers warranty.

Installation
It is generally believed that low frequencies are nondirectional and therefore, placement of a subwoofer
within the listening room is not critical ... however : placing your subwoofer near one or more boundaries,
increases the SPL by 3 dB for each boundary (for low frequencies). When using multiple subwoofers, try to
place the speakers side by side, this results in ‘acoustic’ coupling, further increasing the reproduced SPL
and punch. Remember : more bass means more speakers.
Placement close to a room corner, will increase the amount of bass output, while placing the subwoofer
along the middle of a wall, or out in the middle of a room will decrease the amount of bass output.
Experiment with a number of different placement options to find the one that best suits your particular room
and musical taste.
Other locations will provide varying degrees of low bass impact and blending with your front speakers. We
recommend listening to your system, with the subwoofer in different room positions, to obtain a location
with an optimum response.
If you hear too little bass : try moving the subwoofer(s) further towards the room corner or try reversing the
polarity of the satellites (phase reverse).
IMPORTANT NOTES: this speaker will perform flawlessly only when you follow our amplifier and system
recommendations. For possible and supported speaker/amp combinations, ask your dealer or take a look

Do not apply clipped or overloaded signals.

Connection
The subwoofer has no built in crossover or amplifier or protection system. We strongly recommend
to use the subwoofer in an active configuration only. Both speakon™ as well as standard speaker
wire connectors are provided.
We recommend the use of high quality speaker cable : 2.5 mm² for distances up to 15 meters.
For longer distances, use 4 mm² or more.

Important safety instructions
Before pushing your loudspeaker volumes to the edge, take a few minutes to read these
instructions carefully.
1. Keep this manual for future reference.
2. Clean only with dry cloth.
3. Do not operate near heaters or place it on other apparatus which produce a lot of heat.
4. Take care for the speaker leads. Never use damaged leads and install them in such a way
that no one can walk on it.
5. Only use accessories specified by the manufacturer.
6. Make sure the mounting surface can easily support the speaker’s weight.
7. Use only industry-accepted rigging tools and methods.
8. Choose the right speaker for the right job.
9. Use sufficient loudspeakers and avoid death spots.
10. No main power shall be connected to the loudspeakers.
11. This apparatus should only be serviced by qualified personnel. If not, the warranty might be void.
12. Removal of the grill causes risk to loudspeaker damage.
13. Use cables of the right gauge, certainly for long runs.
14. Use cables with clear colour codes and maintain polarity throughout the whole system.
15. Switch amplifiers on with the volumes turned completely down to avoid loud clicks and clacks.
16. Avoid loud feedback for this is a main speaker killer!
Music colours our lives but too much sound might damage yours and other’s hearing permanently!
Being exposed to loud sound levels over a long time can cause severe hearing loss.
Don’t forget to consult the local law directions regarding producing sound in public places. In some
countries ear protection is obliged when the continuous sound level over 8 hours time is 80dB (A).
