The Industrial Notification

Experts

An explosion in the plant...
... A fire.
An alarm whistle sounds.
One, two..how many blasts?
Those who hear it move
toward the appropriate exits.
Those who don’t wonder...
What did they say?
What’s happening?
What about wind direction?
Where is the fire?
Is this the safe way out?

In an industrial
emergency, response
time is crucial. An
effective emergency
notification system can
make a tremendous
difference in the
aftermath of an
incident in the lives
you save and to your
financial liability.

Getting The Message, Loud And Clear
An emergency message isn’t effective if it can’t be heard...
And industrial environments offer a special challenge
because they are noisy, spread out and have a changing and
mobile workforce. Hearing an alarm such as a steam whistle
can be difficult. Three blasts? Four? Does everyone know the
codes? What about visitors and outside contractors?
“GAI-Tronics’ state-of-the-art
system solutions allowed us to
utilize our investment in existing
systems to address future needs. For
example, we didn’t have to “start
over” when addressing emergency
notification; rather, we built on the
investment we already made”
Pulp & Paper Customer

There’s really no way to make sure everyone, everywhere in
the plant understands an emergency message unless you tell
it to them... loud and clear.
A voice notification system has countless advantages over alarm
whistles or horns. Most importantly, live voice
capability enables you to communicate up-to-the-moment
information throughout the facility -- messages that are
important to what is taking place at that critical moment. In
fact, an emergency notification system with live voice
capability is unquestionably the best way to ensure ongoing
communications between plant management, employees,
and rescue teams during and immediately after an incident
has occurred.

GAI-Tronics offers many
options for broadcasting
tones and speech
messages...horns, drivers and
speakers for distributed
amplification.

Our emergency notification system components are Atex,
CUL and UL-listed for use in hazardous environments.
Once installed, our equipment offers continuous and
automatic supervision of equipment functionality. Even
during a power failure, operation and supervision can
continue via battery backup. The emergency message will
always get through.

Z

GAI-Tronics engineers emergency notification systems
specifically to withstand the hazards presented in industrial
settings. With over fifty years’ experience in industries
such as power generation, chemical, petrochemical, pulp
and paper, offshore oil and gas exploration, and other
heavy industries, we have established a reputation for
making products that last.

A

Our rugged communications
components feature noisecancelling microphones,
non-moveable electronic hook
switches and rugged dust-tight
housings. They’re also hearing
aid compatible.

The emergency notification system must work when you
need it. Harsh environments - exposure to the elements,
hazardous gases, dust or chemicals, even abuse - can take
their toll on unprotected system components. Frequent
hardware replacement or recurrent system downtime is
expensive, frustrating and risky.

We combine 50 years of expertise in operational
communications with state-of-the-art microprocessor
technology. The result: the only supervised emergency
notification system with the capability to broadcast a
combination of pre-recorded tones and speech messages,
and live voice pages. Over any transmission medium:
copper wire, RF or fiber. Everyone heard the message.
Everyone understands.

“GAI-Tronics offers us a solution
that successfully addressed all of our
needs. They provided us the system
supervision we required and allowed
us to meet the pertinent OSHA
regulations. Using GAI-Tronics also
allows us to capitalize on the
equipment investments we had
already made; we didn’t have to
purchase another entire system to
address the emergency notification
issues facing us.”

t GAI-Tronics, our emergency notification systems
provide clear and intelligible communications. Our
emergency notification systems feature superior voice
reproduction and Smart VolumeTM Technology - a unique
development that automatically adjusts speaker broadcast
volume according to ambient noise levels. Our acoustics
engineers are expert at overcoming sound barriers,
reverberation, shadowing and high noise levels in the
most volatile industrial environments.

Different Operations Require Different Systems

E

At GAI-Tronics, we perform an individualized
analysis to evaluate your specific emergency
notification needs. Our approach to system design
is modular -- allowing reconfiguration of
components, addition of capabilities, or migration
to new technology whenever it makes sense for
your operations.

Whether engineered to interface to an existing
communications systems, or configured to
accommodate multiple speakers, strobes,
pullboxes, paging stations, even RF links, your
requirements will always be met. System
components are self-diagnostic and can interface
to existing fire and gas detection systems, and
process control equipment.

Y
E

Although sophisticated and comprehensive, our
system operation is anything but complex. System
users require minimal training -- the outcome is
confident, reliable operations.

As part of our complete
system design we offer an
acoustical survey designed to
evaluate the requirements of
your facility.

Your employees are a valuable asset to your
company. Today, under OSHA and similar
regulations, employers are shouldered with great
responsibility for safeguarding their employees.
These regulations include strict guidelines
regarding requirements for emergency notification
