Brand History: AOP™ Ball, Check and Needle Valves Oilfield Services, Inc., founded on Aug. 15, 1972, in the southern part of Oklahoma City, Okla., initially provided standard wellhead services to southern US oil and gas producers. Only five years later, in 1977, after the company was purchased by Kaneb Services, Oilfield Services, Inc. was renamed as American Oilfield Products (the beginning of Cameron’s recognizable AOP™ brand today). In 1988, the company purchased Inson Industries and began manufacturing API 6A and 6D gate valves, followed by a choke line in an acquisition of KF Industries, which helped to secure its status as a supplier for upstream North American and international markets. Expanding their product line further, American Oilfield Products began producing floating ball valves, threaded check valves and needle valves. Only in 1997 was the name American Oilfield Products officially changed to AOP Industries. At this time, AOP Industries built and moved into a new 60,000 sq ft (5574 sq m) building in Moore, Okla. The portfolio of ball, swing check, needle and threaded check valves was supplied to end users through a specialized network of representatives and stocking distributors. AOP Industries was acquired by Cameron in 2004, and held a unique place in Cameron’s brand portfolio – now known as the trademarked AOP brand – moving back to its origins in Oklahoma City in 2011 to utilize Cameron’s existing technologically advanced facility there. Backed by Cameron’s commitment to quality, customer service and product improvement, AOP valves deliver dependability at an affordable price.
