Kit ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS

BILL OF MATERIALS (V1.2)

Th i s DI Y kit assembly guide assumes that the builder is
familiar with basic thru-hole soldering techniques and has
the abilit y to identify and mount the electronic components
included. A resistor color-code and capacitor code cheatsh eet has been inc luded for ease of reference. A complete
bi ll of materials are included on the opposite column

STEP BY STEP
1 ) Mount D1, D2, D9 and D10 diodes, ensure that the black
b and on the diode matches the orientation of the white band
sh own on t he PCB layout. Solder and clip leads.
2 ) Mount all resistors, solder and clip leads. We recommend
d oi ng a few at a time.
3 ) Next mount IC1, IC2, IC3 and IC4. Ensure that the notch
o n the top of eac h c hip matches the orientation of the notch
sh own on t he PCB s ilkscreen. Solder and clip leads. Take
ca re t o not ov erheat IC pins while soldering, and to not
d i stur b t he pre-soldered surface-mount diodes near IC2’s
p i n s.
4 ) Mount Q1. Solder and clip leads.
5 ) Mount IC5, bending pins so that the protruding metal
p or t ion of the TO220 package is flat against the circuit
b oar d. Solder and clip leads.
6 ) Mount D7 & D8 LEDs , taking care that the shorter of the
two leads ( the c athode) is oriented towards the left side of
the PCB ( while oriented as shown on the previous column.)
Solder and clip leads.
7 ) Mount all ceramic capac itors, solder and clip leads. We
recommend doing a few at a time.
8 ) Mount both electrolytic capacitors, ensuring that the long
lead ( positiv e s ide) is placed thru the square solder pad with
the + sign nex t to it. Solder and clip leads.
9 ) One at a time, mount jac ks, headers, potentiometers and
sw itches and solder in plac e. We recommend to solder only
o ne pin f ir st, then c heck to make sure the part is resting
fl u sh against the PCB. If not, the joint can be reflowed and
the par t r epositioned before soldering in the remaining pins
a nd mounting tabs .
1 0) Inst all a resistor lead c lipping as a wire bridge across
the pins shown under the resistor diagram to the right.
