High-performance automobiles are complex, but driving one doesn’t have to be. COMAND — our standard Cockpit
Management and Data system — features a large color-LCD screen and integrates the radio, CD player and optional
DVD-based Navigation System and portable phone, to simplify multiple tasks and put important information easily
at your fingertips. Some COMAND functions can even be accessed through steering-wheel mounted controls and
a multifunction display in the speedometer face. Simple, iconic controls let you adjust the 10-way power front seats
easily, while the standard in-dash 6-disc CD changer is cleverly concealed behind a motorized wood-trimmed door

HARMAN/KARDON sURROUND sOUND
The standard harman/kardon® LOGIC7® digital
surround-sound system features 12 speakers and a
7.1-channel amplifier, and provides multichannel digital
surround sound for FM radio, CD playback and optional
SIRIUS Satellite Radio. Using technology originally
developed for the professional recording industry and
optimized for the CLS-Class interior, it immerses you
in sensual sound.
4-ZONe ClIMAte CONtROl
With four individual digital temperature and airflow
controls and a separate rear-cabin control panel,
your comfort is assured. The climate control system
is so advanced, it employs a sun sensor that helps
it compensate for directional sunlight.

A 5.5-liter V-8 pumping out 382 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque is impressive, but with
the CLS 550, it’s only the start. The V-8 engine’s broad, flat torque band means responsive
acceleration at any speed — including a spirited 5.4-second 0-to-60 sprint.1 Enhancing the
experience is the industry’s first 7-speed automatic transmission. With a wider range of gears
than traditional automatics, you can always be in the ideal gear for rapid acceleration, while at
cruising speeds you can enjoy a quieter ride and improved fuel economy. The well-mannered
7-speed even adapts to your driving style: drive more enthusiastically, and it shifts at higher

If the CLS-Class pushes the envelope of design, the CLS 63 AMG’s 507-horsepower V-8 makes sure it’s nothing
less than express delivery. Handcrafted by a single technician who affixes his signature to it, each engine features
such racing-derived ingredients as aluminum pistons forged for strength, crankshafts individually balanced
to reduce vibration and camshafts aggressively profiled for a spine-tingling rush to redline. Using a unique
AMG engine block with four valves per cylinder, the V-8 results in a 465 lb-ft rush of torque starting at just
2,650 rpm. With a driver-adaptive 7-speed automatic transmission offering the manual control of steering-wheel
mounted paddles, 0 to 60 mph in a scorching 4.3 seconds1 can be yours in a snap.

Airmatic DC semi-active air suspension
provides optimum ride comfort, yet instantly
firms up as driving dynamics demand crisp
response. Airmatic can also automatically
lower the suspension at highway speeds for
improved stability and aerodynamics.
For legendary control, the CLS-Class employs
a 4-wheel multilink suspension featuring antidive
geometry for exceptional poise, even under severe
braking. A Mercedes-Benz innovation, the 5-arm
rear multilink design controls rear-wheel movement
with outstanding precision, making it an excellent
choice for rear-wheel drive — the choice of driving
enthusiasts for its pure power delivery and precise
steering feel.

The CLS-Class has ESP, a handling advantage that allows it to
react quickly and confidently to the onset of skidding in curves.
ESP continuously monitors your steering and braking actions
while you’re cornering and compares them to the actual vehicle
path. If it senses the onset of understeer (plowing) or oversteer
(fishtailing), ESP brakes individual wheels and/or reduces excess
engine power, to help keep you on course.1 ESP also incorporates
traction control to help control wheelspin during acceleration.
The Adaptive Damping System lets
you tailor your driving experience
with three selectable driving modes —
two for Sport and one for Comfort — at
the touch of a button. ADS-II continually
optimizes ride and handling by individually
adjusting each wheel’s shock-absorber
rate every time the wheel changes
its direction of up-down travel.
Mercedes-Benz research has shown that drivers tend not to brake
hard enough, soon enough, in an emergency. Our engineers
developed Brake Assist to help overcome this tendency. Upon
sensing panic stopping based on the speed at which you depress
the brake pedal, BAS automatically applies all available power
braking boost immediately. By helping to eliminate the delay
caused by human nature, BAS can potentially reduce your
overall stopping distance when it matters most.
The CLS 550 features an advanced 4-wheel disc braking system,
including 4-piston front calipers for impressive stopping power.
Equally impressive are the dual-circuit, power-assist 4-wheel disc
brakes. Lift your foot off the accelerator quickly and the system
sets the brake pads nearer to the discs for even quicker response.
Turn on the windshield wipers and, periodically and imperceptibly,
the brakes are applied to keep them drier and ready for action.
PRE-SAFE continuously monitors driving conditions to help sense
and prepare for an impending accident. If certain circumstances
suggest a possible accident is imminent, PRE-SAFE takes action
to help protect you better. Electric tensioners tighten the seat
belts of the belted front-seat occupants. PRE-SAFE adjusts the
occupied front passenger’s seat to put the occupant in a more
favorable position for air-bag and seat-belt effectiveness. Should
the accident be averted, PRE-SAFE will release the seat-belt
tensioners.

The CLS-Class uses advanced technology and robust materials to create a virtual fortress for its four
occupants. High-Strength/Low-Alloy (HSLA) steel is used in many areas throughout the vehicle. Roof
pillars employ three layers of steel. Full-width front and rear crossmembers, along with a reinforced
floorpan, doors and door sills, combine to provide formidable protection in a variety of impacts.
Advanced front and rear crumple zones progressively deform to help absorb the energy of an impact,
while underhood components are staggered to help prevent them from stacking up in a severe frontal
impact, thereby reducing the likelihood of intrusion into the cabin. An ellipsoidal front bulkhead helps
channel some of the forces of a severe frontal impact under, over and around the passenger cabin.

If the CLS-Class senses certain rollovers, it will automatically deploy the seat-belt
ETDs to help reduce occupant movement and, if deemed necessary, inflate the
Window Curtain Air Bags.2
The CLS-Class features the 10-way protection of an 8-air bag system composed of
dual-stage front air bags, front and rear side-impact air bags and full-length Window
Curtain Air Bags that deploy along the front and rear side windows on the affected
side, to help protect both front and rear occupants from head injury and broken glass
in certain side impacts or rollovers.2
Reinforced doors, side sills and floorpan are part of an integrated safety design
that also includes high-strength seat structures, all of which work in concert to
afford considerable protection in side impacts. Four side-impact air bags and Window
Curtain Air Bags further enhance occupant protection.
While the protective systems of the CLS-Class are quite complex, our underlying
philosophy of safety is really quite simple. First, the most survivable accident is the one
that never happens. To that end, along with its responsive handling, the CLS-Class features
pioneering Mercedes-Benz safety technology such as the Electronic Stability Program
(ESP®), all-speed traction control and emergency-sensing Brake Assist. If avoidance is
impossible, the CLS is equipped with PRE-SAFE, a revolutionary safety advancement that
actually prepares the vehicle for an impending impact. Plus, there’s the consummate
protection of an advanced Integrated Restraint System that includes eight air bags along
with seat-belt Emergency Tensioning Devices (ETDs) for each seating position, all wrapped
in a tremendously strong body structure. Because even though we hope you’ll never
experience an accident, we’ve been continually researching and innovating to better
protect you in those precious moments for well over half a century.

An example of truly visionary thinking, active headlamps monitor your steering angle
and driving speed, then shift their beams to either side to better follow the curvature
of the road ahead. Part of the CLS-Class Premium 2 Package, the active Bi-Xenon
headlamps increase usable illumination of curves by up to 90% over conventional fixed
headlamps. Bi-Xenon headlamps produce a bright blue-white light to provide better vision
over longer distances when using either low or high beams. They also incorporate
dynamic level control to help cut glare, as well as high-pressure washers. The Premium
2 Package further includes Active Curve Illumination, which intensifies with the turn
signals to help brighten your way into dark driveways or alleys. They are also activated
by the steering at speeds up to 25 mph, to help improve visibility on a curving roadway.
The CLS 550 also incorporates corner-illuminating foglamps as part of the Premium 2
Package. (Premium 2 Package not available with AMG Sport Package and CLS 63 AMG.)

The first of its kind, optional Distronic reduces the need to continually adjust your cruise
control setting. By employing a radar signal to monitor your distance from vehicles ahead,
the system adjusts to help maintain your preset speed and following distance automatically.

Parktronic can help you avoid objects that might be outside of your sightline when parking
your CLS-Class. When ultrasonic sensors in the front and rear bumpers detect objects in
their field of view, audible signals and illuminated displays on the dashboard and rear-cabin
ceiling help you maneuver with confidence.

It’s like having a music library of over two million songs in your Mercedes-Benz. Optional SIRIUS Satellite
Radio — standard on the CLS 63 AMG — integrates with the standard audio system and controls. Your SIRIUS
subscription brings over 125 all-digital coast-to-coast channels, with 65 commercial-free channels of music,
from rock to country and classical to jazz, plus over 60 non-musical channels that cover news, sports —
including live games from the NFL,
® NHL® and NBA — and such well-known names as Discovery Channel, E!
and Radio Disney.

Multicontour front seats — standard on the CLS 63 AMG — allow pneumatic adjustment of the side bolsters,
thigh supports and dual lumbar supports of each front seat, for more personalized comfort.

Retail handsets can be connected to the Multi-Handset Interface4 (MHI) Hands-Free Communication System
in one of two easy ways: a range of MHI cradles or a new MHI Bluetooth® interface5 module. All devices click
in place on the MHI contact plate in the center console of vehicles equipped with MHI. Cradles provide the
best performance for users who talk on the phone often, require optimum reception, have big address books
and need to review text messages in the car. In contrast, the Bluetooth interface module is ideal for light
phone users who don’t want access to address book and received call lists in the car. It services their needs
via a convenient wireless connection between the handset and MHI system. No need to dock the phone
in the car; just leave it in your pocket and enjoy hands-free conversations over the sound system. Better
yet, now there’s a wide array of Mercedes-Benz-approved retail handsets compatible with the MHI. Sold

This optional enhancement of the SmartKey system lets you unlock your
CLS-Class by grasping the outside door handle — without removing the
key from your pocket or purse. Startup is equally easy: put your foot on
the brake, tap the top of the gearshift and you’re ready to take off. After
you park, touch a button on the outside door handle to lock the car.

This modular system, available either as a factory option or dealer-
installed accessory, uses GPS satellites to determine the location of
your car. Detailed driving instructions are provided through the audio
system and on the COMAND system’s large color-LCD screen. Maps
of the contiguous U.S., Hawaii and Canada are contained on a single

This convenient option allows you to close the fully open trunk simply by
pressing a button on the driver’s door or inside the trunk lid. A button
on the SmartKey motors the trunk lid fully open too — a great
convenience when approaching with your arms full of packages.

Standard on the CLS 63 AMG and optional on the CLS 550,
heated front seats offer three levels of soothing warmth. Active
Ventilated front seats, optional on both models, use miniature
internal fans to circulate air through perforations in the
upholstery, and include the heating feature.

These all-season floor mats are a great way to keep the carpet of
your CLS-Class in top condition. Deep channels trap large
amounts of water, mud and melting snow. They’re easy to clean
and available in Black, Grey or Tan, with four mats per set.

Extended mobility tires, a CLS 550 option, can be driven a limited
distance after a loss of air pressure in a tire. The Low Tire Pressure
Warning System alerts the driver if a significant loss of pressure has

Tele Aid puts a variety of services at system subscribers’
fingertips with three simple buttons: the SOS button, the
Wrench button and the i-button.
• SOS button: In case of an emergency, push the SOS
button for a Tele Aid Response Specialist who can notify
police, paramedics or other emergency personnel of
your vehicle’s location. SOS is automatically triggered
in the event of an air-bag or seat-belt Emergency
Tensioning Device (ETD) deployment.
• Wrench button: If you need Mercedes-Benz Roadside
Assistance, push the Wrench button. Service personnel
will help you identify the trouble and dispatch Roadside
Assistance if necessary.

i-button: Push the i-button to contact the Customer
Assistance Center or to be connected to your
Mercedes-Benz dealer. You can also reach the
Concierge Service, receive Route Assistance and access

The Tele Aid Luxury & Convenience Package builds
on the services of the Tele Aid Security & Care service

Mercedes-Benz. Upgrading to the Tele Aid Luxury &
Convenience Package is as easy as pressing the i-button
and speaking with a Tele Aid Response Specialist.
• Personal Concierge acts as your personal assistant
on the road. The Tele Aid Concierge Service offers
you the gift of time and convenience by fulfilling your
requests for nearly “anything, anytime, anywhere” at
the touch of a button. You can also use the Online
Concierge, which allows you to access your Personal
Concierge via your computer or even your PDA from
the convenience of your home, office or anywhere
Internet access is available.
• Traffic Information provides up-to-the-minute details
on traffic conditions along your route.3

who has the resources to locate and help you get to

24-hour Roadside Assistance
The first of its kind, the Mercedes-Benz Roadside
Assistance Program is still the only one that remains in
effect for the life of the vehicle. Our Roadside Assistance
technicians draw on years of experience and training to
get you back on the road as quickly as possible.4
Mercedes-Benz Warranties
Our New Vehicle Limited Warranty runs for 48 months
or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. And anytime
during the new vehicle warranty coverage, you can also
purchase a Mercedes-Benz Extended Limited Warranty
that will provide additional protection when the New
Vehicle Limited Warranty expires.5
The Mercedes-Benz Maintenance System
We’ve made caring for your vehicle easier than ever. With
the Mercedes-Benz Maintenance System, the service
intervals are fixed and predictable — every 13,000 miles
or one year (10,000 miles or one year for AMG models).6
Your vehicle will even remind you, about one month before
service is due, via an automatic display on the dashboard
that also tells you which type of maintenance service is due.
The no-charge Service Welcome
Getting proper care for your Mercedes-Benz is easiest
when you go to the people who know your vehicle
— and you — best: your Mercedes-Benz Center’s Service
Department. To help you get acquainted, just bring your
vehicle in for a no-charge first visit between 1,000 and
3,000 miles, where your dealer will perform a diagnostic
check as well as address any questions you may have.
It’s part of our no-charge Service Welcome, which also
provides your first tire rotation at no charge anytime before
6,500 miles.7
