FACTS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT YOUR FIRE RESISTANT SAFE The fire protective insulation in all fire resistive safes contains latent free moisture in crystal form which may cause a humid condition. Heat from a fire will cause the crystals to vaporize and provide an effective barrier against heat entry. Sometimes the latent free moisture is noticable as dampness in new equipment, so we suggest allowing the safe door to remain open for several hours each day during the first week or so after purchase. Weekly thereafter, open the door periodically to allow air circulation. Do not locate the safe in a damp area. SOME OF YOUR VALUABLES DESERVE SPECIAL PACKAGING Because your safe will release moisture to create an effective barrier should fire strike, articles susceptible to moisture damage require special care. Stamps, coins, photographs, etc. should be placed in a well sealed humidity resistant container packet or heavy (boil proof) sealed plastic bag to prevent moisture damage. PERIODIC MAINTENANCE Although your safe has been manufactured to the highest quality specifications and will be expected to give a long life of good service, a certain amount of maintenance should be performed on a regular basis. 1. The bolt bars moving in and out of the safe door should be lubricated once a year 2. After warranty, we recommend the lock be serviced by a qualified safe man or locksmith every two years.
