Convair portable evaporative coolers contain no harmful CFC gases and provide
cooling that is refreshingly clean. Air is drawn into the unit and cooled naturally as it
passes through water moistened pads. Nothing could be simpler, cleaner or healthier.

Filter media
This Australian manufactured Convair
lter pad uses a high tech Chillcel®
“honeycomb” design that provides
maximum surface area and optimizes
cooling performance. Air is forced to
come in contact with evaporating water
which delivers maximum cooling eect.
Most imported units come from China
and use a very ineective “towel”
system with up to 20 times less heat
exchange area than Convair Chillcel®.
Air is able to bypass the lter media
and not receive any cooling eect
from the water.

through a moistened lter pad.
Fan system
Convair has an advanced fan which is
designed to deliver maximum airow
with minimum noise. The fan and
Chillcel® design ensures that air is drawn
from the rear of the unit and forced to
pass through the saturated lter pad.
Most imported units have a small
tangential fan that draws air into the
front grill and re-circulate this air with-
out it passing through the lter media.
If air does not pass through eective
lter media, the cooler will not deliver
any cooling eect.

The fan system should deliver maximum airow and ensure even distribution of air through the
lter media. It should also be designed for quiet operation.
Water distribution system
Convair has a patented water
distribution system that ensures the
lter media stays totally saturated.
The unique channel design resists
clogging and delivers a steady, even
water distribution at all times.
Many imported units have a water
distribution system where water is
pumped into a trough at the top of the
unit and distributed to the lter media via
small holes. These holes are easily blocked
by sediment and result in sections of the
pad not staying saturated. Dry sections of
the pad allow air to rush through without
delivering any cooling eect.
