Rounding to the nearest whole number is the same thing as rounding
to the nearest ones place. When we want to round anything we look at
the place value the are asking us to round to first. In this case, the
ones place.

value rounds up or stays the same. If the digit to the right is 5 or
greater, we round the number up. If the digit is 4 or less, the number
stays the same.
