Built-in digital camera
and microphone
The VAIO TR’s MOTION EYE built-in video camera lets you
take still and motion pictures at almost any angle. It rotates
easily from front to back so you can focus it on yourself for a
video chat or net meeting. Just press the CAPTURE button,
which acts like the shutter button on a camera to launch
Network Smart Capture and shoot. To ensure you come
across loud and clear without howling in your voice during a
video chat, the VAIO TR’s built-in microphone is placed
away from the speakers and in the closest position to your
mouth. The LED lights up to let you know you’re recording.
Wireless style
Simply flick on a switch to go wireless! It’s as easy as
that with the VAIO TR. Send pictures or video taken with
Network Smart Capture in an instant to anyone, anywhere*,
anytime. Or if you feel like a chat, turn the MOTION EYE
built-in video camera on yourself and go online. Cafés,
restaurants, shopping malls, hotels, airports or stations
with ‘‘Hot Spots’’* suddenly become handy locations to
hook up with friends or for a Net meeting. And with the
VAIO TR’s long life battery, you have all the stamina you
need for your wireless experience.

built-in combo drive gives you mobile entertainment and visual
communication capabilities anywhere, anytime. With its high contrast
Clear Bright LCD and Bass Boost sound system, you can experience true
DVD entertainment while commuting on buses, trains and planes or
whenever you like. And thanks to its Wireless LAN capabilities and
MOTION EYE video camera, you can go online for a video chat or Net
meeting and keep in touch with your world when you’re on the move. Of
course, you’ll have all the stamina you need to go wireless and be
completely entertained!

Weighing a mere 1.41kg and 36.5mm thin, the VAIO TR carries
easily in your hand, briefcase or handbag. Via its versatile
built-in combo drive, you can play games, watch DVDs, read
CDs, and write CD-R/RW discs wherever you go.
Power and stamina
The VAIO TR takes advantage of innovative Intel® Centrino™
mobile technology to not only deliver the robust power
needed for sustained high performance, but also extend
battery life in actual usage situations. With a standard battery
the VAIO TR delivers up to 6 hours* of mobile power, and with
an optional PCGA-BP3T** battery performance can be
extended to an impressive 9 hours*! That’s ample time to get
your work done and watch a movie when traveling long
distances.

Beautiful, bright DVD images
Wider than a regular XGA screen, the VAIO TR’s
magnificent 10.6˝ Clear Bright LCD (1280 × 768) is ideal
for DVD playback. Its designed glare filter and AR
(Anti Reflection) coating sharpen contrast and minimise
reflection to reproduce beautiful, rich colour images at all
times. A wider viewing also means it’s easier to find a
comfortable viewing position or to share the screen with
friends.
Exciting sound reproduction
Located above the screen, the VAIO TR’s speakers are
ideally positioned for movie viewing: about the same level
as your ears. They are also optimally tuned for clear and
natural sound reproduction with rear speaker ducts on the
back of the screen to improve audio clarity and an Auto Gain
Control function to minimise distortion during playback.
What’s more, the VAIO TR features Bass Boost (Mega Bass)
— the same original technology used to enhance sound
characteristics in Sony CD and MD Walkmans. Simply press
Fn + B to activate for deep rich bass tones. Bass Boost is
adjustable for your own headphones.
Sleek AC adapter
The slim, lightweight design of this compact AC
adapter makes it easy to carry wherever you go.
Designed by Sony, it features the VAIO brand
logo and illuminates at the connector when
receiving power. What’s more, an additional
PCGA-AC16V6 adapter is also available as an
option, making it easy to switch to a second
power supply in a different location.

Redefining function and form
The superbly crafted VAIO TR is designed to provide
greater user freedom and style. Gently bevelled edges
on the V-slant design make opening easier and
complement the smooth operation of latchless
technology. The LED indicators are cleverly located on
the front bevelled edge for easy recognition. And real
usage buttons, which include the CAPTURE button,
Volume buttons, and a Magnify button to adjust screen
resolution, are conveniently positioned on the side of
LCD. For a refined finishing touch, the VAIO TR wears
a VAIO mirror finish logo, a reflection of Sony’s
commitment to excellence.
Fast and easy connections
In today’s connected world, you’ll want to link with
various peripherals, as well as access and share data in
all sorts of ways. The VAIO TR supports USB 2.0
connection with two connectors, links with large monitors,
and connects to networks with absolute ease anywhere,
anytime. Via the i.LINK connector or MagicGate Memory
Stick direct slot* you have a fast, direct link between your
Handycam or Cyber-shot and portable devices, such as a
Network Walkman or a CLIÉ handheld**.

Adobe® Premiere® 6 LE
Sony’s original DVgate Plus software allows high-precision
digital importing, editing and exporting of movies in various
movie formats. You can import movies from DV or
MICROMV Handycams* by simply connecting and using the
one click button. Imported scenes can then be cut and
connected, or edited further via Adobe® Premiere® 6 LE.
Finally, your edited movies can be exported to DV or
MICROMV Handycam equipment (MPEG1 and MPEG2 file
export also possible). DVgate Plus makes every step easy.
This professional video editing software lets you easily create
and edit your own Hollywood quality videos. VAIO Edit
Components Ver. 3.0, Sony’s special plug-in for Premiere,
lets you edit MPEG files with ease, monitor images on an
i.LINK connected TV during editing, and add any of 34
editable VAIO transitions in addition to the 15 provided by
Premiere. It also enables seamless coordination with DVgate
Plus, Sony’s DV editing software. With VAIO and Adobe®
Premiere® 6 LE, you can finally realise your movie making
potential.
Simply by connecting your VAIO with your digital camera via
USB cable, or inserting Memory Stick media, you can
automatically import photos to VAIO’s hard drive. Since
photos are displayed as thumbnails on the screen, browsing
is a breeze. You can also create a photo album in three steps
with Photo Album, then print it out or save it as a PDF file
and attach it to email. Or write and draw on your photos,
place your photos in chronological order with Calendar View,
create screensavers and slideshows with background music,
and much more.
Creating and editing your digital images for print or posting
on the Web has never been easier, thanks to Adobe®
Photoshop® Elements. These state-of-the-art image editing
tools free you to explore your creativity. Using a set of
flexible image capture options, you can create a totally
original look with the photos you have taken with a digital or
traditional camera. And with versatile delivery features, you
have more choices in what you can do - print, email or post
on the Web for all to see.
This advanced music mastering software lets you import
analogue music - including old LP records and cassette
tapes - edit the music, and write your own high-quality
optimised CDs. It also lets you save edited music as WAV
files and add them to the SonicStage ‘‘play list’’. Leading
features include Super Bit Mapping, support for recording in
a 24bit/96KHz** sampling mode; and four professional third-
party effector modules: SONY OXFORD Equalizer, Waves
Renaissance Bass, Waves S1 Stereo Imager, and Waves L1
Ultramaximizer.
SonicStage
Personalise your music with Sony’s original SonicStage
music software. Download music easily from the Internet and
record/store music freely on your hard disk for ‘‘play’’ like a
jukebox. When you want music ‘‘to go’’, just ‘‘check out’’
tracks onto a Memory Stick for a portable audio device. The
Net MD standard supports rapid data transfer to MiniDisks.
Also create original CDs, and even make MP3 CDs by
collecting MP3 files registered as a ‘‘play list’’ to record
approximately 15 hours of music in a single CD-R disc.
Network Smart Capture
Sony’s original Network Smart Capture is a handy tool for
visual communication. It allows you to capture still and
moving images not only from the MOTION EYE camera, but
also from a Digital Handycam* connected via i.LINK cable.
To share the moment with your friends, simply capture it and
attach it to email anytime, anywhere. Network Smart Capture
also features Fixed Point Observation mode, which enables
you to take images automatically at intervals with a Web
camera. The images can be uploaded in real time to your
own Web site.
Almost anything you can imagine, you can create and communicate on VAIO. Powerful software capabilities
make professional level image editing and music production simple and fun for everyone.
