The RWDCA, with the cooperation of the AI industry, is pleased to
present Volume 7 of the Red Sire Showcase. Volume 1 included 64 sires,
Volume 2, 120 sires, Volume 3, 149 sires, Volume 4, 111 sires, Volume
5, 76 sires, Volume 6, 84 sires and Volume 7 features 86 Red and Red
Carrier sires from around the world! 20 of these sires are POLLED! This
publication condenses a great deal of information into a handy, pocket-sized
booklet and is the most popular publication of the RWDCA.
Proven and Young Sires are located in separate sections and alphabet-
ized to make this publication more user-friendly. (Young Sires start on pg.
6, Proven on pg. 61) By request, a NEW NAAB listing is on pg. 4.
PERCENTAGE OF BREED BLOODLINES: For those bulls that
are not 100% Holstein in the RWDCA Herdbook, the actual bloodlines
by breed are listed by percentages in the upper left hand corner (Example:
Savard-Red is 92% Holstein, 8% Simmental). Abbreviations include: DB
- Dutch Belt, H - Holstein, I - Illawarra, L - Lineback, MR - Meuse-Rhine-
Issel, M - Milking Shorthorn, MO - Montbeliarde, NR - Norwegian Red,
SM - Simmental, SR - Swedish Red.
IMPORTANT: The RWDCA Open Herdbook identies bloodlines
by breed, not percentage of registered bloodlines.
PROTEIN PERCENT: All U.S. pedigrees are published in true
protein, which is .2% less than crude protein used in other countries. For
pedigrees with crude protein, it is labelled cp.
This publication highlights several bulls from Western Europe, where
Reds are very popular. These bulls offer new bloodlines and unique qualities.
Also featured are a few bulls from other red breeds. A growing number of
polled (naturally hornless) sires are included, 6 of which are homozygous
polled meaning all of their offspring will be polled. These are notated as
PP in their registered names. All sires in the book are registered with the
RWDCA. Selecting sires that t your breeding goals has become much
easier.
The RWDCA appreciates the cooperation of all those whose sires are
included. Thank You for providing this excellent breeding guide! Extra
copies are available free on request and will be in stock throughout 2012
and early 2013. Volume 8 is scheduled for July 2013.
