' Beiore using your So Close Crib Monitor: - Read and follow all instructions caretullv. - Reed and observe all warnings on the product and in this instruction booklet, - To prevent entanglement with the adapter cord, NEVER place the cord in or near a crib or playpen. DO NOT place the Recharging Base anywhere its AC adapter cord could be within reach of children - ALWAYS KEEP THE RECHARGING BASE, TRANSMITTER, RECEIVER AND AC ADAPTERS OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. - This product is not intended to be used as a medical monitor and its use should not replace adult supervision. - It is essential to check reception regularty Please see the Testing Reception section tor complete instructions. - The Recharging Base is intended for indoor use only. - NEVER use the Recharging Base, Transmitter or Receiver near water. For example, do not use near a bathtub, bathroom sink, laundry tub, kitchen sink, in a wet basement, etc. - Always unplug the AC adapters from well outlets during long periods of non-use. - Position the Recharging Base, Transmitter, Receiver and AC adapters to allow adequate ventilation and prevent these components from overheating. 0To prevent overheating, keep the Recharging Base, Transmitter, Receiver and AC adapters away irom heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves or other appliances (including amplifiers) which produce heat Also keep these components out of direct sunlight. - Use only the AC adapters provided. To Charge the Unit: IMPORTANT: You will need to fiilly charge the Babys Unit BEFORE THE FIRST USE and approximately every 43 hours ofuse. 1. Locate the Recharging Base. A green LED will illuminate, showing that the Baby; Unit is cnnnefl'ed and charging (Figure 1). (NOTE: It'the Baby/s Unit is on backwards, the LED will not illuminate.) it takes approximately 8 hours to fully charge. NOTE: When charging, it doesnit matter what setting the Babys Unit is on (Channel |, channel u or oFf). 3. After the Baby's Unit is fully charged, place on crib, bassinet, or playard as desired. When plugged in, the AC adapter will be the source of power. 4. For AC Power Use: Locate the Parent’s Unit and its AC adaptert Connect the AC adapter into the side oFthe Parent’s Ul’lith Connect Th! AC adapter into a power outlet (Figure 2). CAUTION: DO NOT use an adapter that did not come with this product. For Battery Use: Locate the center screw at the back of the Parent’s Unit, Unscrew the screw. Pull off the battery door and insert three AAA batteries (see positive and negative diagram on the Parent‘s Unit). Secure the door with the screw (Figure 2). NOTE: IFdesived, slide the belt clip over your belt. Choose a Location: IMPORTANT: When choosing a location to set up your Baby’s Unit and Parent’s Unit follow these guidelines: - For safety, place the Baby’s Unit 4 to 6' (1,5 to 2 m) away fi'om the crib. -The Baby's Unit can be placed on the mt rail orthe Recharging Base. Use the Parent's Unit far enough away from the Baby’s Unit so as not to get feedback, ~ During use ofthe monitor, ifthe sound quality deteriorates you may be reaching the limits ul’ihe monitor's range. lfthls happens, you will need to move the Parent's Unit in closer proximity to the Baby's Unit. 030367$nst_5_110503 11/7/03 10:45M “$7 Operating Your 80 Close Crib Monitor To Use the Baby’s Unit and Parent’s Unit: 5. Turn the Parents Unit to the On position. Choose a channel. Be sure that the same channel is selected on both the Babys Unit and the Parent's Unit (ngl’e 3). Check the battery LED on the Baby’s Unit to be sure the unit is charged. lfthe Low Battery LED is illuminated amber, you need to recharge the Baby/5 Unit. 6. Place the charged Baby's Unit on a crib rail, playard or bassinet near the baby (Figure 4). Press down gently until it latches on to the rail. Pull up to be sure it is securely latched. A CAUTION - Possible entanglement injury, Keep out of baby's reach. Remove Baby's Unit from crib or playpen when baby begins to push up on hands and knees. - Do not add additional strings or straps to aiiach lo crib. NOTE: To remove Saws Unit fi'om rail, depress the inside Release Lever with your finger and pull the saws Unit offthe rail. 7. Adjust the volume by turning the knob on the side Ofthe Parent's Unit (Figure 5). Range lndiwor Failure: 8. The Range Indicator Feature on the Parent‘s Unit lets the parent know the quality ofthe connection between the Parent’s and Babys Units. IFthe indicator is green, there is a good connection. The 5 sound lights on the Parent’s Unit indicate the sound level ofthe baby. The more noise your baby makes, the more sound lights will illuminate. CAUTION: Test the Parent's Unit before each use. It Is essentlal to check reception regularly. IMPORTANT: The first time you use your Baby’s Unit, go through the section “To Test the Reception” With two adults. To Test the Reeeptlnn: 10. Place the Baby's Unit an the crib rail (or other comparable location}. Have an adult speak into the Babyfs Unit at various levels (soft to loud) while another adult checks the Parent’s Unit for the proper sound and reception. Try the Parent’s Unit in every location that it will be used.
