When to replace the batteries When the batteries low icon appears in OUTDOOR temperature field, replace the batteries in the remote unit. If the ieon appears in the INDOOR temperature field, replace the batteries in the main unit Cautions: 0 Use only fresh batteries of the required size and recommended type 0 Do not mix old and new batteries, different types of batteries ( standard, alkaline, or rechargeable ). Getting Started To ensure proper functioning of the RF reception from remote unit, please follow this power up procedure. 1. Insert of new batteries into the Main unit and press RESET ( See Batteries installation and batteries replacement ). 2 Insert of new batteries into the transmitter and press RESET on the transmitter( See Batteries installation and batteries replacement ). 3. The Remote field on Main unit show the correct temperature. If the clock is fail to receive the Remote unit temperature data alter power up, blank “--.-“will be displayed. 4. The WWVB signal reception will be started automatically alter power up, this take typically 3~5minutes in good condition, the WAVE 0K icon will be appear to indicate successful reception. If the clock fail to receiver the signal in the first reception after power up, it will repeat a 10 minute reception sequence every 30 minutes for 3 hours, if still no signal received, the clock will repeat the reception every 3 hours until the signal can be received. In case the clock is not able to receive the WWVB signal, the time can be manually set ( refer to Manual clock setting ) Manual clock setting Time Set At the back of the clock, slide the switch to TIME SET and the time will keep flashing on the display Then press HR or MIN button to set your desired time and slide the switch to the LOCK position to complete the time set. Calendar Set At the back of the clock, slide the switch to CALENDAR and the date will keep flashing on the display. Then press the MONTH, DATE and YEAR button to set your desired calendar setting and slide the switch to the LOCK position to complete the calendar set. Time zone Set At the back of the clock, slide the time zone switch to desired time zone. Automatic time update The clock will automatically update its time every day at 0:55(12:55am) Eastern Standard Time(EST). If the automatic time update fails, the clock will repeat the update every three hours until it is successful receiving the signal. Manual time update Reception can be started anytime by pressing the WAVE button. Note: Frequent use of this feature may affect battery life Wave 0K Display The Wave OK box will be displayed which indicates successful reception during the last search for the WWVB signal. The WAVE OK box may not be displayed daily due to interference between your location and the transmit station. 12HR/24HR International Time Display Set Press the 12HR/24HR button to choose the desired display format “AM” and “PM" will be displayed only in 12HR format. Centigrade ( C ) or Fahrenheit ( F ) set Press the CIF button to choose the Centigrade or Fahrenheit readout. Note that the remote temperature display on the main unit is dominated by the selection on the C/F of the main unit. Whatever the display unit of the remote unit is, it will be automatically converted to the chosen one of the main unit. Remote unit Receiving status indicator The status indicator indicate the following stage of the received signal M NO SIGNAL DETECTION SIGNAL DEFECTING SUCCESSFUL RECEPTION Losing Synchronization of Remote & Main Unit If the clock is fail to receive the remote unit data afier power up or fail to receive the remote data for 5 consecutive times, the remote temperature field display “--.-“, press RE-SYNC to force the receiver to start receive signal. If remote temperature cannot be received, check: 0 The remote unit is still in place. 0 The batteries of both remote unit and main unit, replace as necessary. 0 The transmission is within range and path is clear of obstacles and interference. Shorten the distance when necessary, Interference Signals from other household devices, such as entry controls, door bells and home security systems, may interfere the remote unit and main unit to cause temporarily reception failure. This is normal and does not affect the general performance of the product. The transmission and reception of temperature reading will resume once the interference stopped. Location of the Main unit and Remote unit The main unit receive a radio wave much like a TV or radio. Be sure to locate it near a window or some other locations where reception is good. Avoid the following locations, which can interfere with proper reception. 1. Inside or near concrete/steel buildings or structures, unless the clock is close/next to a window Next or close to power station 3, Inside moving vehicles ( automobile, train, airplanes etci ) which radio transmission or electronics will interfere the reception of radio-controlled clock 4. Too close to household appliances ( computer, TV, video/audio, fax machine, speakers ). 5. Near construction sites, traffic lights, roadside, neon lights etc Close to or on top of metal surface/plates. Also choose location for the main unit and remote unit that are within 60—90feet ( 20- 30meter )of each other. The construction of your home or office might affect the transmission range between the main and the remote sensor If you have a choice of several locations, try each to see which provides the best performance. Using the Stand The main unit has a built in stand which can flipped open, it can support the main unit on a flat surface, Or you can close the flip and mount the unit on wall, Drive the screw into the wall until the head extends about 1/8 inch from the wall, then locate the keyhole slot over the screw head and slide the clock down to make it secure. Reset the Clock Press the RESET button when the RF Thermo Clock does not operate normally Note: Once resetting the RF Thermo Clock, the main unit will start to search remote unit for 5 minutes and start receive the WWVB signal ( Refer to Getting Started). Take care of your RF Thermo Clock 0 Avoid exposing your RF Thermo Clock to extreme temperatures, water or severe Shock. 0 Do not put your RF Thermo Clock in conditions of excessive force, shock, dust, extreme temperature or humidity Any of these conditions may shorten the lifl of the clock, 0 Do not tamper with any of the internal component of the RF Thermo Clock. This will invalidate the warranty under the above condition. 0 Use only fresh batteries. Mixing old and new batteries may cause battery leakage. Warning: Changes or modifications to this unit not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user’s authority to operate the equipment.
