Instruction Manual Bluetooth® Smart Sensor Model: BT-02 General Description The Bluetooth® Smart Sensor works with Embertec APS models that are Bluetooth ready. Please visit embertec.com to identify the range of models that work with this sensor. The Infrared Bluetooth® Smart Sensor activates the Power Saving sockets, monitors activity and is also used to set the Active Powerdown®. It comes with a 9.8 ft/3 m cable, LED light and two button control. It can also be controlled via your Android/iOS mobile device, by downloading and installing the emberconnect™ app. The Bluetooth® Smart Sensor receives signals from any of your remote controls and recognizes when you are interacting with your Audio Visual (AV) components. The Bluetooth® Smart Sensor is also used to set the time period for the Active Powerdown® feature. The default setting for Active Powerdown® is 60 minutes. Once the associated Embertec APS unit has been installed, place the Bluetooth® Smart Sensor in a convenient location that is in line of sight. Close to your television is the best position and within normal operation of your existing remote control(s). BT-02 Bluetooth Smart Sensor Instruction Manual Basic Functions 1. The Bluetooth® Smart Sensor is designed to All standard functions of the Classic sensor including IR detection, LED warning and change settings. 2. Detects IR from Users remote. This is used to confirm User is still using their equipment. 3. Communicates via Bluetooth wireless communication. This communicates to a Bluetooth enabled mobile phone/tablet with an app that enables setting parameters (timing/etc) manual turning on/off and displaying power measurements. 4. Has a cable with RJ11 plug to connect to the ESUS strip. 5. Has a warning LED on the front to alert Users that the power will soon be removed from their equipment unless they press a button on an IR remote (for connected equipment). 6. Has a SET button to set timing from 1 hour or 2 hours. If the sensor has not detected IR for the set period, it flashes the warning LED on front of the sensor to alert Users. 7. Has MUSIC button which sets the timing to 8 hours. 8. Has LEDs on top of the sensor to advise User of which timing mode the system is in being 1 hour, 2 hour or 8 hours (M=music mode). Quick Bluetooth® Guide • • • The Bluetooth® Smart Sensor can be controlled by your compatible iPhone®, iPad® or Android™ device running the emberconnect™ app. To unlock the full potential of your Embertec APS, install the emberconnect™ app. Control your Embertec APS unit directly Switch the Power Saving sockets ON or OFF direct from your phone or tablet. See when your Embertec APS unit is about to switch off power to the Power Saving sockets. If it’s not convenient, you can delay the switch off with emberconnect™. • Easily control Active Powerdown® settings to suit your lifestyle. Set the time before your Embertec APS unit saves you money by switching off power to unused AV equipment connected to the Power Saving sockets to 1 or 2 hours. • Easily enable BedroomMode™ Set the brightness and flash duration for minimum disturbance in a bedroom. • Easily enable MusicMode™ Temporarily override Active Powerdown® while you party, listen to music, or watch a video marathon. • See your power use emberconnect™ shows you how much power your AV equipment is using right now. BT-02 Bluetooth Smart Sensor Instruction Manual Connecting your mobile device To enable the emberconnect™ app to communicate with the Bluetooth® Smart Sensor your mobile device must first pair with the Bluetooth® Smart Sensor. With the emberconnect™ app installed, please follow the steps below: 1. Select the emberconnect™ app on your mobile device. 2. Ensure the Bluetooth® Smart Sensor is properly connected to the Embertec APS unit. 3. Plug in the Embertec APS unit and wait approximately 3 seconds for it to be ready. 4. Press and HOLD the MUSIC button on top of the sensor for 5 seconds. The LED on the front of the sensor will start flashing quickly for 1 minute. 5. The Bluetooth® Smart Sensor is now ready to pair with your mobile device. 6. In the emberconnect™ app, press the + button to start the pairing process. 7. A dialog box will appear after a few seconds, you should now type the pairing code: 000000 (6 zeros) in and press OK. 8. Follow the remaining on screen prompts to complete setting up your Bluetooth® Smart Sensor. 9.
