System Description
The Locus Traxx Portable wireless system enables fresh produce shippers to deliver
produce with a freshness confidence. The system does this with a series of radio
systems that wirelessly track product location, temperature, and other condition
and, or shipment sensors. Sensor modules termed “Smart Tags” transmit their
information via a 802.15.4 local wireless network back to a central portable or fixed
unit. The portable, or fixed units, concatenate this local sensor information with
position data from a dedicated GPS receiver and transmits the data package to a
central motoring facility through either a GSM cellular or Iridium network.
Installation
Hooking the Portable System Unit Up
1. Remove the portable unit from the Pelican case. On the bottom side of the
device, verify that the Green? LED is now flashing indicating that the unit is
awake.
2. Place the portable unit against the rear right vertical bar. Press the bottom
of the unit the bottom chuck is firmly engaging the bar. Similarly press the
upper lock assembly into place. Ratchet the upper lock assembly until it
firmly holds the bar.
3. Remove the Smart Tag unit(s) from the Pelican shipping case and place on a
shipping container to be monitored. For optimal performance, insure that
the Tag operates approximately half way through the large shipping
container and 4 feet off the floor.
4. Verify that the system is correctly monitoring the tag temperature and
current location by calling 1-800-LOCUSTRAXX and enter the Portable Unit ID
number.
5. That’s all there is to it. Tell the driver to have a pleasant and safe trip!
Monitor the Shipment
1. In a web browser open www.locusraxx.com and login with the user ID and
password provided.
After Shipment Completion:
1. Recover the tag and shipment Pelican box from the truck.
2. With a helper for safety, detach the Portable unit from the truck bar by
de-ratcheting the lock assembly and un-latching the failsafe safety cable.

Radio Comments
Optimum performance of the Smart Traxx system may require repositioning of the
Smart Tag in relation to the fixed or portable device. Excessive attenuation of the
RF communication can result if the line of sight is obstructed by materials that
significantly attenuate the signal. It is therefore advised to keep this in mind when
positioning your wireless system.
Warning: Changes or modifications to this device not expressly approved by Locus
Traxx could void the user’s authority to operate the equipment.
Under Industry Canada regulations, this radio transmitter may only operate using
an antenna of a type and maximum (or lesser) gain approved for the transmitter by
Industry Canada. To reduce potential radio interference to other users, the antenna
type and its gain should be so chosen that the equivalent isotropically radiated
power (e.i.r.p.) is not more than that necessary for successful communication.
communication satisfaisante.
Class B Devices:
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a
Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are
designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a
residential installation. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio
frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions,
may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no
guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this
equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which
can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to
try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:
• Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
• Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.
• Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the
receiver is connected.
• Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.

RF Exposure
