ASCO 641 Lighting Contactor Panel

Standard and Custom Solutions for Area and Security Applications
The ASCO 641 Lighting Control Panel offers contractors
a complete, single-enclosure solution that includes
multiple ASCO Lighting Contactors and a range of
related controls and accessories. It saves space and can
be installed quickly, with a minimum of on-site wiring.
All 641 Lighting Control Panel components are
factory wired and tested to
help ensure proper system
operation and long-term reliability. Integrating components into a single enclosure
eliminates the need to order
from multiple manufacturers
and the scheduling, billing
and multiple contacts that
requires.
The ASCO-engineered
panel meets applicable code

standards. In fact, certain
lighting contactors are UL
listed for short circuit withstand current ratings.
The panel also is fully
documented to ease troubleshooting, if ever necessary.
It’s based on ASCO’s 100year tradition of applied
technology and the quality
assurance that’s designed
into every ASCO product.

The 918 Lighting Contactor Is the Heart of the 641 Lighting Control Panel
The ASCO 918 Remote
Control (RC) Lighting Contactor is the heart of the ASCO
641 Lighting Control Panel.
It provides reliable and

convenient lighting control
in a variety of applications.
It is rated at 30 amperes to
600 volts AC and is listed to
UL 508.

Solid-state control modules enable energy management systems, microprocessors, photoelectric cells,
timers and similar control
devices to manage the lighting contactor.

The lighting control
panel is ideally suited for
ballast lighting, tungsten
and general-purpose loads.
The ASCO 641A Lighting
Contactor Panel satisfies
requirements of large-area
applications. 641S meets
requirements for security applications and 641 AS meets
requirements for both.
Applications include
large areas, stadium parking garages and facilities
using TOD (Time of Day)
photo-sensor control for
automatic on-off operation.
Other applications are signs,
interior and exterior building lighting, interior safety
lighting, recreational lighting
and applications suitable for
manual on-off operation.
The 641 Lighting Control
Panel is available in standard
and highly customized configurations. Three standard
configurations offer quicker
delivery, while customized
configurations offer the flexibility to tailor performance
to site-specific requirements.

•	 Feature ASCO 918 RC Contactors. (electrically operated,
mechanically held, designed for lighting applications)
•	 Quieter operation (no AC hum)
•	 Longer life expectancy for contactor
•	 Fully rated for all types of lighting loads, including metal
halide, mercury vapor, quartz halogen, tungsten, and fluorescent

no. 10 AWG wire
•	 Large dial, multifunction 7-day timer with reserve power
feature or digital time clock with battery backup (Models
641A, 641 S)
•	 Clamp-type, self-rising terminal plates for solderless connection with the screws for fast termination

Standard panels feature the
ASCO 918 Lighting Contactor that’s based on ASCO’s
electrically operated, mechanically held solenoid
operator that also is the heart
of all ASCO power transfer
switches.
The solenoid does not rely
on magnetic latches or
impressed current to maintain contacts in the open or
closed position. The contactor offers quieter operation,
longer life expectancy and
eliminates the continuous
power drain associated with
electrically held solenoid
designs.
This contactor is specifically
designed for metal halide,
mercury vapor, quartz halogen, tungsten and fluorescent lighting systems.

Custom Configurations
Custom configurations for
comprehensive lighting control requirements can include
up to 10 lighting contactors
in one enclosure, in addition
to related controls and accessories.
Besides the 918 Lighting
Contactor, the panel also
is available with the 920
Lighting Contactor. Panels
configured with 920 Lighting Contactors become the
ASCO 642 Lighting Contactor
Panel.
Controls and accessories can
include relays, building management interfaces, time
clocks, photocell interfaces,
pilot lights, control switches,
power fusing, and other functionalities.
